View more from TERAGDC 2010: North America's First Look at TERA
One of the biggest games of the decade has been developing in the minds of Bluehole Studios for years, and now North American finally see what all the fuss is about. Get ready to pick your jaw off the floor...
When the exhibitor list for GDC 2010 was revealed, most people didn't pay much mind to a company calling itself "En Masse Studios." That is, they didn't pay attention until the curtain was dropped and En Masse declared their intent to publish the upcoming fantasy MMO, TERA. Known as "the next generation MMO," TERA has been turning heads not only for its amazing graphics but also for the fact that it finally brings true console controller-type action to MMOs.
We can hear all of your heads filling with anticipation already, so don't wait any longer and keep reading to take a look at our in-depth sneak peek of TERA.

I think the main reason I stay with WoW is the combat and overall movement of the characters is unmatched anywhere in MMO's and I've played several.
I won't be trying this game.
WoW
80 Orc shaman
80 Troll hunter
and a host of other alts = over 400 days played combined.
EQ2
Omaledea 80 Ratonga Bruiser-retired
Anyway, I am intrigued by this. I feel the idea with the most potential will be the "guild politics" section mentioned at the end of the video, and could introduce a fantastic amount of nuance to the game. Combat could be boring unless there is a large skillset available, but the whole thing shows a fair amount of potential. Of course until more details are available it is difficult to say.
Anyhow, I think a game like this has a lot of potential, but everything needs to be made perfectly, even the slightest misstep in the combat system can cause it to be, well, basically, another fail Korean MMO, like someone said.
I look forward to giving it a try ( for free * as in BETA * hopefully ).
Wait, what?
PSO did that ten years ago.
PSO did that ten years ago.
PSO is not a MMO
It's like diablo II but intead of text chats you had graphical room hubs instead
I don't know, I kinda think I kinda might like it, kinda.
It was posted to the main zam page, stories posted there are then carried on the specific game pages in the zam network. Its how Zam tries to get people to see outside their own interests, maybe turn them on to something new.
As far as I can tell from their web-site, it will be a pc game. No mention of console version which is kinda stupid.

Going across all 3 would give SE a run of their money, with FF14 said to only be ps3 (and PC) the last time I checked.
The graphics look nice, the game play looks cool...but... I'm not so sure on the controls. I like the idea, and if I'm not mistaken Guild Wars has something like this, of being able to Dodge attacks by paying attention to what the Mob is going.
In WoW I can be the BEST (I'm not) DPS out there, but if I can't control hate build up..when I DO take hate I'm GOING to get hit. This game would mean if I pulled hate I could dodge attacks while the Tank regains control. That is a cool idea.
BUT
This is where the downside would be, if there is any lag it could cause a big issues.
I did play FFXI and I did enjoy using a controller, and it took me a good while to get use to a KeyBoard for WoW. Unless the subscription is just too high, and the game is not on the ps3, I could see me giving this game a try.
The "book keeper" race looked cool.

Another Korean MMO. Here's a few things i hate about them :
- lack of end game ;
- you can solo lvl up till max lvl ;
- too much stuff based on RNG ( random number generation ) ;
- unbalanced classes ;
- stupid & dumb game play ;
can't wait for ff xiv o.O
*goes back to ff xiii*
This game shows a lot of promise. There isn't one single good MMO console game out there right now. I mean minus the Final Fantasy series. This game is coming in at a perfect time. It will fill the gap in between World of Warcraft boredom after Cataclysm as well as the version updates in between Final Fantasy XIV. Depending on the subscription model it's quite likely I will give this a whirl if it is available on PS3. If not, their loss. Good game from what I see so far. Good direction for an MMO from the way he described it. So much potential.
