As we expected, the forum thread for the Cataclysm Closed Beta Key Contest was truly epic, but we've pulled all fifty names out of our enormous hat. The Blizzard Creative Writing Contest is back this summer, offering one lucky (and talented) fan the chance to visit Blizzard's headquarters in Irvine, CA and spend an afternoon with the company's own writing team. As if hobnobbing with Blizzard's lore masters isn't reward enough, the grand prize winner will also receive his or her choice between a Diablo III "OVERTHROWN" barbarian diorama or a Frostmourne sword. Seven runners-up will each receive prize packages from the Diablo Archive, the Warcraft Archive, the StarCraft Archive, and the Warcraft: War of the Ancients Archive, "all signed by Chris Metzen, the cover artists, and Blizzard's writing staff," according to the official contest page.

This year fans from anywhere in the world can enter the contest (with the exception of a few states and provinces), unlike the 2009 event. Blizzard is calling for creative fiction based in the Warcraft, StarCraft, or Diablo universe, written in English and composed of 2,500 to 7,500 words. Entrants are instructed to submit their work at the official contest page, using this entry form. Secretive and elusive the Pandaren race is one of the most revered in all of Azeroth … at least to the fans of the ever-evolving Warcraft universe. Although they were once a proud ally to the night elves in Kalimdor, they have since moved on and separated themselves from the rest of the world. So now that the Pandarens are once again showing themselves in Warcraft (in the form of a player pet), World of Warcraft players are as eager to pick up a piece of Pandaren merchandise as they are to nab the latest murloc plush toy.

Thus, when Blizzard partnered with the DC Unlimited toy company to produce a Pandaren action figure, the editors at ZAM were more than a little interested. It all began with a pumpkin... or so the legend says...

For the past two years, Allakhazam has hosted a pumpkin carving contest, beginning as a small, spur of the moment event that ballooned in 2008 when Square Enix offered a Wings of the Goddess PC as a grand prize. Now, in 2009, the contest has gone global and reached the shores of Vana'diel!

This year's Pumpkin Carving Contest will be open to players around the world and everyone will be eligible for all prizes. The grand prize this year is the ominous and intimidating Shadow Lord Statue, provided by Square Enix. Second, third, and fourth place winners will receive Star Onion and Piano Collection CDs. However, being in the top four will not be the only way contestants can win prizes!

According to our current poll on ZAM.com, more than 50 percent of our readers play two or more games at a time. Well, what if your character from one MMO decided to explore the world of another game? That's exactly what we're asking you to envision in our "Venture into Hyboria" Age of Conan contest, which kicks off today and runs throughout the week.

To enter, all we're asking you to do is visit this forum thread and write a short back story explaining how your MMO avatar made it to Hyboria. It can be serious, funny, or silly.  If you want to write a novel, go for it!  If you want to make it short, that's ok too! For example, maybe your Tarutaru in Final Fantasy XI conjured a portal in Windurst that led to Conan's realm, whether on purpose or by accident. Or perhaps your warrior in World of Warcraft felt the urge to go on an epic journey to find others like him who are well-versed in the art of war. You can be as creative and in-depth as you'd like with your story, as long as it tells the tale of your character's arrival in Hyboria.
