Gamescom may have come to an end, but the summer convention season isn't over just yet! PAX Prime will be held in downtown Seattle from August 26-28 and we'll have members of the ZAM team on the floor, including Director of Content Cody "Micajah" Bye. He'd love to give out PAX swag to some lucky readers, and all he wants in return is more followers on Twitter!

We'll be giving away PAX gear to people who follow @ZAMOfficial and @CodyBye on Twitter. The more followers the pages get before PAX, the more chances you'll have to win prizes. Check out the constantly updated prize list after the jump to see what you could get simply by clicking the "follow" button!

Ever since I first set foot in Nexon's Dungeon Fighter Online back in September 2009, I've had a heavy fascination with all things "action." Maybe it's just nostalgia running rampant from those days spent playing Marvel vs. Capcom, but I've always felt that if any new MMORPG genre was going to take the throne, then real-time action combat would be it. So when Nexon announced their next action MMORPG, Dragon Nest, to follow on the footsteps of Dungeon Fighter Online and Vindictus, you can bet that I was all over that open beta from the moment it first started. Now, almost three weeks after my first foray into the lands of Lagendia, I can safely say that Dragon Nest is the most fun I've had in an action MMORPG to date.

PvP is now live in Dragon Nest! To access the Arena (seen above), simply select it on your channel list once you're level 10 or higher. Today's patch adds five new PvP maps and two game modes. The maps are Lost Temple, Arena of Death, Snowfield, Valley of Mist and Circular Arena.

The game modes are "Rounds" and "Respawn." In "Rounds," a team will win a round by killing every member of the opposing team. In "Respawn," your enemies will continue to respawn and you'll earn a point for every kill. Teams can be made up of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8 players each for both modes.

Players can earn EXP by battling in the Arena to advance their PvP rank. They can also earn medals and redeem them for items in the Arena NPC Shop.

Nexon has released the official Dragon Nest launch trailer! You can watch it below. Of course, Dragon Nest is still in open beta and hasn't technically launched yet. However, Nexon has said that the open beta test will roll directly into launch, which means players will retain all of the characters, items and other enhancements they’ve made since the beginning of open beta.

In other Dragon Nest news, PvP is coming this week! You can view screenshots of the Arena in our gallery.

Dragon Nest's open beta may have been extended, but Nexon is still adding new content to the action MMO. Today's Enter the Labyrinth patch adds two major features: The Minotaur's Nest level 24 Abyss dungeon and the fully functional Dragon Vault in-game store.

Let's start off with the Dragon Vault. Prior to today's patch, open beta participants were able to test out the store for free using Scales. You will now need to purchase NX to buy items from the store. New items have been added to the Vault, such as the 5-slot Adventurer's Bag for 2,900 NX ($2.90), the 30-slot Adventurer's Bag for 13,900 NX ($13.90) and the skill-resetting Scroll of Unlearning for 19,800 NX ($19.80). There are also a variety of costume items for 1,600 NX each ($1.60), as well as costume packages. There's even a set of White Cupid Wings that give your character a 10% speed boost for 2,800 NX ($2.80).

Do you want to win some NX to use in the Dragon Vault? Enter our Dragon Nest NX Sweepstakes for a chance to win up to 200,000 NX, as well as a poochum plush toy!

As for the Minotaur's Nest, it's a level 24 four-player Abyss dungeon located at the Ashen Ruins. You'll need to complete any level 16 Abyss dungeon to receive the entry pass. Watch the video below to see the Minotaur's Nest in action!

Dragon Nest's open beta was scheduled to end today, but Nexon has extended it for an undetermined amount of time. However, Nexon stated in the awards press release that the action MMO will officially launch later this month for the PC in the United States, Canada and Oceania.

Nexon has decided to extend the Dragon Nest open beta to "continue to work on many aspects of the game." The team has not announced a new ending date for the open beta, but will keep players informed closer to the completion of testing.

In addition, Nexon is extending some in-game events due to unscheduled maintenance over the last few days. Here's the rundown:

  • Enjoy 50% bonus EXP/drop events on August 9 from 4-6 p.m. PDT and August 10 from 6-8 p.m. PDT.
  • Players have been given a one-day extension to use their Scales in the in-game store. Be sure to spend your Scales by August 10 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.
  • The Spread Your Wings event has been extended and the requirements have changed. Level 24 characters that logged in and cleared at least 3 dungeons daily for at least 11 days between July 26 and August 10 at 11:59 p.m. PDT will earn a pair pf permanent Loyal Dragon Wings.

The time has come to bear arms and fight for the righteous goddess Altea in Dragon Nest. However, the road to finding the grail that will restore her reign is blocked by many dangers. That’s why we're teaming up with Nexon and giving away a total of 700,000 Nexon Points to seven lucky contestants! That's a prize pool of $700 worth of NX!

Also joining the prize package are these lovable Nexon Poochum plush toys – an exclusive and very rare collectible. If you're a Dragon Nest player, you've no doubt encountered packs of Poochums in dungeons like Assassin's Den or Forest Sanctuary.

Dragon Nest's server list is going to get a new addition tomorrow, August 2 with the launch of a West Coast server named Elena. This move will give each coast two servers, which should hopefully help alleviate any population issues on the Velskud server.
