what job is needed @endgame ?Follow

hey i returned back to ffxi after about 1 and a half year playing WoW...

i have a lvl 60ish blm with 5/5 af, but as i ve discovered blms dont get invited these days cause of the magic unfriendly monsters that were implented with aht urghan.

i also see that there are many blms running around.. so i thought it will be hard to find a dynamis/etc. ls later at 75.

i thought of leveling blu maybe, but i am not really sure if they are needed in pt's... and endgame.

so my question is; what jobs does hades lack in the endgame content? preferably i d like to hear some comments from ppl that are in an endgame ls, or just ur personal view. is it worth to get my blm solo to 75 or should i start leveling something else, if yes, which job? ^^

i ve just made some bad experiences in WoW with my rogue (on nearly evry server there theres a rogue over population and its VERY hard to find a guild that picks u up as a rogue <.<)

Seems that there is always a shortage of Whm, Rdm, and Brd which is all anyone seems to want in party, the Rdm and Brd that is.

Blm still get use in Dynamis. The only mobs that are really bad for Blm are the colibri as they have reflect. The rest may be resistant but people will still take a Blm/Whm as a back up healer to a Rdm and as an enfeebler.

You'll rarely ever run into an endgame situation in which an LS has *too many* BLMs. The problem, as I'm sure you've realized, is getting it to 75, but there's almost always use for another BLM when it comes to endgame activities. As for other jobs, there are pretty much 3 categories as far as I see it.

Jobs that are often needed:
Ninja
Paladin
White Mage
Black Mage
Red Mage
Bard
Summoner
Ranger (when Shadowbind is needed)
Thief (if the LS cares about TH)
Beastmaster (if adds need to be taken care of)

Jobs that are helpful but not necessary:
Monk
Warrior
Samurai
Corsair
Dark Knight
Blue Mage
Ranger (just for straight DD)
Beastmaster (if there are strong charmable mobs around)

Jobs that are rarely ever helpful:
Beastmaster (if there are no adds and nothing to charm)
Thief (if the LS doesn't care about TH)
Dragoon
Puppetmaster

Just thought I would add this in on the Ranger issue, not that I am biased or anything.

Ranger is more needed than Helpful in the following situations:
- When you have winds that need to be thrown.
- When you are kitting mobs. In case you hadn't noticed Melle rarely attack when chasing a mob. Ranger can stand still and shoot.
- In those situations where you are faced with Invincible and Perfect Dodge. That's right folks Holy procs against invincible and Perfect Dodge is no where near Perfect against Ranged Attacks in fact it is more like an evasion bonus against Ranged Attack. Even when used by an NM.
- Those cases where you need widescan.

Just thought I would add that in there.

I'll agree that this is important and definitely something you'd want to bring at least one RNG along for, but at the same time, you've got to consider that there are only 4 monsters in the game that this applies to.

Pretty much every kited mob that I can think of stops running to cast magic or perform an ability every once in a while, which gives the melees a chance to SA+WS, which RNGs can't do. Aside from farming Zipacna, I can't really think of any. Maybe it's useful in Salvage or Einherjar, though. I haven't tried those yet.

All valid points. Being a Ranger I just like to think I am more useful than other DDs.

I think you might want to put Cor up at the top. Personally, I would take a Cor/Brd in anything I do especially when paired with another Brd. 3 songs and 2 rolls is beautiful.

i would recommend rng or blm for endgame.. seems like you can never find any rng's anymore for endgame.. n also you can never have enough blm's for endgame..
