On the forums in my old server (Asura) there was a classified page on the forum created by Stormico. Well, I moved to Remora in June 2005 along with my 2 mules.

Items or services are to be sold for gil in-game only or traded. No RMT is allowed. Please leave your contact information, so people can contact you as needed.

A nice little color-coded guide on what you need to advertise.

Seriously though, Trem does have a point, but one that is easily (by most of us anyway) avoided. Like the "I will turn your Hermit rings into Eremites Rings for free" type posts. Nothing in this world is free... And the VERY FEW THINGS that are, you would still be better off avoiding them because there is a GREAT chance it is a scam :P

Only do a straight up trade, never give anything to somebody ahead of time without some sort of compensation in return. And NEVER EVER EVER use the Mog House Delivery service!

Real life example:

Not long ago I sold my E-Bow (Eurytos Bow for those that don't know). Well after about a week I am starting to realize how lame the other bows are in comparison, so I decide to buy another E-Bow. After checking the AH a few times and none being up for sale, I throw out a shout in Jeuno. Well last night, about 5 minutes after my first shout, I get a /tell. "Eurytos Bow, do you need it?" at about 80% of the going rate. Immediately skeptical, I try to hide it and just say "OK". So then I do a /sea name and see he is in Bastok... My guess is he was on his main Char in Jeuno, and logged to his Mule for the scam attempt. Eventually he asks me to send the money to his Mog House, which I reply with "Lol, good one". AFter I refuse he drops his price more, to which I respond, either we meet face to face, or you can go away now.

This is the second time somebody has attempted this, and it amazes me that these people think it will actually work..? But I guess, at some point it DID work or they wouldn't still be trying..??

Also, I am available for help with AF/Quests/Missions as a 75RNG/37NIN, also with a WHM sub available for certain situations. Can almost solo most all coffer keys as well as AF1 items and AF2 NMs with little help. If it is quick and easy and I am bored, I may even do it for the cost of ammo :) But most of the time I have friends asking me for help, so if you are a total stranger, it will likely take a bit of compensation. All this depends on what you need done, and price can be discussed in game.

Im sorry,personally i dont agree with charging for Mercenary work (and it is each to their own with this). We should be helping the lower levels out as we ourselves were helped out (and indeed still are being helped out by people with higher levels than us). If im not busy i dont mind teleporting people, or doing escort runs etc, helping new summoners with buffs at various places across Vanadiel etc.
I know that in the past ive always remembered people who helped me out without charging, and the ones that i paid for help are long forgotten.
A kind action goes alot further than any amount of gil could. The people you help out today could end up being people who help you out next week,next month etc....

A lot of it comes down to the fact that some of us are REALLY busy. When I really have nothing to do I help for free a lot, but I require a lot of gil to pay for the consumables I use each day...

I can either go farm or help you, I don't have time for both. If you pay me we both get what we want. No one forces anyone to pay, you can wait out and get someone to do it for free.. Or you can pay me 100k now and I can guarentee you an eldemine coffer key in less than an hour :P

You could easilly farm 100k in the time it takes you to get a group together and get an eldemine key for free, it really just comes down to time and how you want to spend it.

Time is money, and free help isn't always free when you have to beg hours and days and possibly weeks to get it.

Another thing, is that some of us don't feel comfortable asking for help. I would much rather pay someone and feel like I "paid my way", than feel like I owe someone something cause they helped me.

There are people out there that honestly get enjoyment and satisfaction selflessly giving themselves to help others and I respect that.

There are even more people that only help you to get some sort of favor in reture later or to put themselves in some sort of position to get gratitude...

The point is.. no one in any of these situations has to do anything they don't want to, so nobody is really wrong.
