LINKSHELL RESPECTFollow

Personally I have never paid for anything like this, all of the people that I have asked to help me with various things (which isn't all that often) have done it out of the kindness of their heart. I think that does, however, put me in debt. When I'm in a position of power in a situation where others could use my assistance, I'm obligated to do so. Unfortunetly I'm still too low level to help with that much, but once I'm high enough I plan on helping as many people as I can, for free. FFXI is a community. By requiring a fee for some things you're undermining the sense of community. Paying for powerleveling is one thing, but helping with AF/Coffer/Rank is something completely different, especially when doing so within a linkshell. The purpose of a linkshell is a group of like minded people that group up to help each other. By charging LS members for AF/Coffer/Rank help you are completely undermining the purpose of a LS. I do not know you, nor do I know your friend. I do know, however, that I have never been refused a helping hand from anyone in my linkshell because I didn't have enough gil to pay them for the help. Sure, your friend wants to make gil, but maybe s/he should reevaluate his/her priorities. Your LS has a right to be upset IMHO, but maybe flaming this person for it is not the best course of action.

Er yeah, its not that I dont mind helping them, I help them all the time. Just walked Keensheen through AF1 (soloed the chaos elemental in field gear and a garuda dagger :-P) and Ironfrog through finishing his PLD job quest.
The problem started when people in the LS started abusing me to the point where it seemed like some were telling me essentially "Because you are high-level, you are obliged to sacrifice all your time to do stuff for us."
Stealthydhalmel/Misaku pitched the idea that for essentially (yet again) running people through rank 4 and rank 5, thus spending my entire day doing nothing but that, that they should chip in and help pay for my efforts (again :-P). Thats when everyone copped an attitude.
Really, I've done plenty of things for people, some that I didnt even know (we were finishing up doing coffer runs in Eldiem Necropolis when some guy, I cannot remember his name for the life of me, asked if I could help him out, I asked the party and we all just let him camp at the entrance while we killed droppers for him), and never expect payment, and even when they insisted on paying me, I would refuse the Trade option because I really didnt want it.
It was just that Stealthy's polite suggestion wasnt taken to well, and thats when it REALLY felt like I was being taken advantage of. >.<
So yeah, I've hopped off of 900 gil chocos right after getting it to Raise a dead guy in La Theine, I've ran into the ass end of Giddeus to link and kill all the key droppers for some random noob, I've run to Garlaige to help another random fellow open the gate, etc etc, and I dont mind doing it at all so long as people dont treat it like an obligation so much as a polite favor. With the way my LS is setup, I dont expect there is much of anything they could do to repay me in the future (truth be told, I'm the highest level on there, by about 20 levels, so...), but I never expected compensation.

It was mostly cause Stealthy/Misaku fronted the suggestion and cause my LS was treating me like a tool that should live, breath, and exist to carry them through stuffs. :-P

I don't believe in paying for help for things such as Coffer Keys, AF gear and those sort of things but when I recieve higher lvl help for these I instead try to help out someone else lower level where I could be of service. A couple days after getting help with my AF2 when I saw a group shouting for trying to get people for rank5 I offered to do their Beadaux portion for them and also helped out a Samurai and Ninja for their AF2's just to have another body. My chances to help someone 20 levels higher than me are obviously few and far between but I feel like I'm paying them back by offering my services to someone else and hopefully keeping a sense of community going.

Kat, would you mind solo'ing my Pld AF3 while you're at it? =P

Well only 53 now but I did just finish my Eldieme Coffer run and tonight will be a merry time fighting Dark Spark, people love that fight though so I'm not too worried, will have to walk out there and get that crystal though seeing as I don't have it yet =) Slacker that I am.

All I gotta say katsako and misaku are great i met as a 40 whm
and they both came to my aid in fighting the WHM AF1 NM \(^.^)/
And i love both for that. :D
