hhmmmm......with SquareEnix's new emphasis on gil sellers/buyers, does anyone really think that zooes will stop? will they be banned? anyone think the prices of some high-quality items will go down (emp hairpin, valk mask)? will we be able to camp NMs now? just wanted some opinions from other people. personally, i think gil sellers will always find ways around the rules, but that's just my opinion.

Maybe I'm just completely ignorant but I'm not convinced the Zooes are gil sellers.

They are weird and don't play like normal people for sure...but they have expensive gear, and I've actually gotten stuff from their bazaar for much less than AH. (mainly clusters)

My LS and I think they might be accounts registered to an internet cafe-type place, where people use the accounts to just mess around and do whatever, which explains why they are usually together and why they are usually doing really odd and random things that don't make much sense.

That's my theory.

And I think what is going to stop the gil-sellers isn't so much the patches as much as the fact that FFXI is going to lose it's player base to WoW and EQ2, and therefore the demand for gil is going to dry up. I've already noticed less players on than usual. Usually around 2000-2500.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Zooe are gil-sellers. The majority of them are DRK or DRG (very good jobs for camping NM's), and almost every one of them I've seen has a level 5 WAR subjob (just in time for provoke! What a surprise), no matter what level their main job is. Those that are around the same level wear the same exact type of armor (usually outdated), and I see some of them constantly camping certain NM's for days at a time. If they were in fact an internet-cafe type of thing, then I don't understand how they could be so high level (some of them at least). It takes a thorough understanding of the game to get to even level 35, much less 50+. Maybe Lenonis is right, but I'm gonna have to side with the majority of Pandemonium and say they are gil-sellers.

I've only had one experience with the zooe's. I had just zoned into Selbina and saw a dead person laying there so i /sea and see a lvl 50 pld but... its a zooe. I asked both in english and with auto-translate for a raise for the dead guy. the only response i got was ????... until i mentioned a reward, then they suddenly understood what raise meant.

There are a couple of Zooes farming Gobbue Tree cutting and Moss drops 24/7 in Zi Tah now. They apparently took over when Ladykiller, Firewolf and Icewolf moved on to better locations. I think that the Zooes are an internet cafe type of thing that also does gil selling on the side explaining why they will party and socialise sometimes yet be doing the typical gil seller stuff later. Thats ok though because like the typical Zooe they arent very good at claiming the Gobbue in Zi Tah and I still am able to get enough cuttings for my gardening projects.

If you guys want to get away from the gil sellers for a bit. I recommend completing the Promyvion missions and getting access the Tavnazian region. Yeah the Promyvions are hard but I think the difficulty of the missions has also kept the gil sellers out of those areas. The Promyvions require top of the line equipment, properly leveled jobs and good teamwork, things the typical gil seller dosent have. So the next time you get frustrated with those missions remember that the difficulty is also keeping the gil sellers from accessing a vast area with alot of rarely camped NMs with some really nice drops..

I'm with you Con (this is Caelia from HolyKnights, by the way. Y'know, Riverd's girl? Yeah. ^^). I usually see them by themselves farming a lot. And if they are with other people (which, to me is rare, cause I hardly see them with anyone but other Zooe's), they're usually just running around not doing much. I could be wrong too. But I do think they're gil-farmers (next time I talk to Riv, I'll find out if he saw them when he was mining in Palborough trying to mine.)

But, you just never know. Maybe they are just regular players, maybe they're gil-farmers/gil-sellers.

Hey Con and Cae (its Surae) i personaly think the Zoo's are gil sellers 1 becaue they are as Con said DD classes so they can take out mobs quickly. They are always in farming spots such as Battalia, Sauromugue Champain (sp), Pashow, yadda yadda yadda, and theres always one in a city if you ever /sea all zoo so thats probably the one selling the stuff or sending it to other players...just a thought

My experience with the Zooes........

I used to think they were gil sellers. And i still do. But, I actually had one of them in a party i was in while camping stroper chyme with my LS. This zooe spoke really decent english considering that she (im assuming it was a female) said she was chinese. Knowing the reputation of the zooes, i didnt want to blatantly piss her off so i said nothing and considered this a great change to learn more.

Being more helpful than your average player, my LS leader invited her to our LS. She was very happy and greatful to belong. Several days had passed and we saw the zooe on the LS ALL the time. Were talking 24/7. But since that day she was actually in the party, she never spoke. We tried being friendly and accomodating... but to no avail.

We had a meeting and decided to kick the Zooe from the LS. And thats my zooe story.

I just gotta vent a little bit right now cuz im getting really fed up with these zooe pieces of garbage. I was camping Stroper Chyme last night and there were about 5 zooes there as well. I camped for about an hour and decided to give up cuz they were getting all of the claims. I logged out at about 3am. I came back on at around 12 this afternoon and there they are.....the exact same zooes...camping the same exact NM. They are definately gil sellers, and even though they may be friendly, they still sell gil. I am getting so fed up with these people ruining the game for honest players. /cry. All I want to do is get my darn Archers Ring damnit! They swarm the big room where the NM spawns and than spam everything they have on it as soon as one of them sees it...... sorry for my mini rant, but I just had to let off some steam. Anyone know of any NM's that I can camp that aren't infested with the Zooe scum?

Well, I have yet to see a Zooe camping Lizzy, they tend to stray away from her for some reason. You could also try a couple lower NM's like the Golden Bat and Spook, Zooe tend to go for the big bucks NM's. And yes, they are most definitely gil-sellers. I randomly bug them sometimes with /tells like, "{Help me out!}{No money!}" or "{Money}{Can I have it?}{please}" and I've gotten more than one of them to admit they sell gil.

Well, shortly after I posted my last post about the zooe scum, I had a streak of luck. I managed to get 6 or 7 claims of Stroper Chyme in a row, which throughly pissed of the damn gil sellers. Although I didnt get one drop (aside from the occational slime oil) I was more than happy to know that I had beat out zooes on the claim that many times in a row. I would get the claim and they would sometimes do an /fume or /anger. Heh heh, it made my day to piss them off. It started out being around 5 zooes in the area like I said in my earlier post. Well after I started getting all the claims I saw 3 more zooes fall through the hole that leads to the stroper chyme area. That made a total of 8. Realizing that I really couldn't compete with that many people, I decided to take my leave for now, and I am going to go to better pastures soon. And Conquistador, thanks for the info on the other NM's to camp, maybe i'll try a lower level one for a bit. I'm kinda strapped for cash right now and im getting tired of farming, so camping NM's is gonna be the way to go for me.

Since the update there have been less of them on(usually there are like 11 on, lately there has been only 6 or 7), which leads one to believe that they are, in fact, gil-sellers/botters and that they are either 1. going to stop and play the game like the rest of us, or 2. just going to quit. I don't particularly care either way, I've disbanded pts that have had zooes in them and have dished out my share of slaps there way from time to time. I actually have proof from a friend of mine that at least some of them are gil-sellers. He asked one of the semi-english speaking zooes if/why they sell gil. The zooe replied that it is because they live in China and have a tough time getting money. Well, the pity card won't be played on me. There country's lame economy doesn't need to mess up the FFXI economy. I was really hoping that when they made the new servers a few months ago that they would all emigrate, but no, they remain to make life just a little harder on us.

They're gil sellers.

I don't know of any normal families that mined in Gusgen 24/7 for weeks until the new gil sellers arrived.

I know they sure did.

Oh yea, these puppies are gil-sellers alright. Camped Stroper Chyme with Sereph and Yatsuhiko (Both LS-mates), with almost no interruption for the first couple kills. Then... the Zooe began to arrive. First, there was only 1 Zooe in the entire area. Then, another. Soon maybe half the Zooe online at the time were all gathered in Ordelle's Cave (maybe 6 or 7). Luckily, only 1 of the Zooe really presented a problem when hunting Stroper. The one I really found to be a pain in the ass was Trociant, an exceedingly indiscrete voke-botter. I mean, the Chyme would appear on the screen as claimed, his voke would hit it before it even spawned. Sadly, there was no physical proof that he was using a voke-bot, so we couldn't report him.
