That'd be pretty much no one.

Although a friend of mine has close to 1 million gil. He's been farming like mad. Personally, I'd like to sleep and do some leveling now and again.

me too, I gave up my Ebow a few weeks ago =_= 7.1 million for a bow is too much for me

when my money is about 65% to the previous price it rose up again and make my money only about 45% to its price now

/goodbye EBow

just leave it like that. if most rich people think it's an overpriced item, the price will drop :/

I dont know what is wrong with the economy.. Gilsellers farm items like mad, and still the prices go up? Sounds kinda strange to me, if there are lots of the same item on the AH, then prices -should- be going down right?

On the other hand, if they control that specific item on the AH, then can drive prices up. God i hope SE does something about this soon.. because knowing myself i would still try to get that damn harnass.

I'd watch the AH every time I log in. My DRK friend bought his first sniper about 3 weeks ago for about 650k, then it shot up to 900k-1mil then he watched the AH till the ring went down to about 620k bought it then it shot back up last tuesday.. or sometime during the week.

Ya I have noticed prices going up on things even when there are many on the AH. Astral rings for example. I sold my 1st one several months ago for a whopping 150k. Well just recently I thought about getting another for Promyvions and I paid 279k for it. ;; the prices were fluctuating between 260 and 300k and there were 14 on the market!! Same thing with Earth Staves and other Rings and Earrings..

I saw 2 Zooes in Zi Tah farming the Gobbues there. Used to Be Firewolf and crew but now it looks like the Zooes moved in. No matter I they are still <too weak> to me and I am still able to make a decent amount of gil farming moss and cuttings for my gardening there. Still I think Square really needs to do something about this situation. It seems that the gil sellers have become more rampant in the past couple of months and AH prices have sky rocketed. I know alot of people who have left for WOW and if Square dosent do anything about it they may end up with server filled with gil sellers and no players..

Bad news...it's like this on every server.

For some reason the uber high end items have been shooting up in price.

The problem is only partially the sellers...but the bulk of the problem is that people are BUYING these items for those insane prices.

I could earn a ton of money in a fairly short time (go-go-gadget crafting) but I'd never pay 10 million for an item. Not unless it was the end-all be-all of my job that didn't have anything else near that caliber.

I was looking at archers knives versus hawkers knives. It's like +1 agi and + 1 R. acc but it's almost 200k more per.

No thanks.

I agree, i -would- be willing to save up to 3M for the Scorp. Harnass, but 10M is just too much.. However, the new update is gonna end all of this crap, thank god!

The holiday season is here and the Final Fantasy XI development elves have been busy putting together goodies for all the good boys and girls of Vana'diel.
We are planning our next major version update for Thursday, December 12. The details of the update are as follows:

There will be several new quests and events added to the Promathia areas.

New quests will also be added in Non-Promathia areas.

New monsters (including notorious monsters) will be added.

Over 15 new "orb battles" will be added.

Several new weapons, types of equipment, and items will be introduced.

The difficulty of selected Promathia missions will be adjusted.

Tavnazian Archipelago supply quests and regional teleportation will become available.

Chat filter options will be expanded.

A new Gobbiebag quest will be introduced.

Shortcuts into Promyvion - Vahzl for those who have partially or fully completed the Promathia mission will be added.

"Temporary items" found on the Balltista playing field may now be stored in one's inventory for the duration of the match(es). Also several previous "special" rules will be implemented permanently.

A new point system for rating Ballista participants on their performance will be introduced.

The stack number for several select items will be increased from 12 to 99. In accordance with the adjustments, players will be unable to put items up for auction for a short period of time. Details on this temporary maintenance will be provided soon.

Several previously unstackable foods will now be stackable.

The duration and effect of certain foods will be adjusted.

The Old Sabertooth in Sauromugue Champaign will no longer drop any items.

The variety of items that can be dug up using the "Scavenge" ability will be increased.

A new thief job trait will be added.

The potency of etudes will be adjusted.

"Spirit Link" will now heal a wyvern's status ailments.

The accuracy of "Blood Pact" attacks during magic bursts will be adjusted.

The strength of "Blood Pact" attacks will not increase as much when fighting weaker enemies.

The order of messages that appear when using the /nominate, /vote and /propose commands will be adjusted

The fee collected when placing items on auction will be determined by the current auction price, not the store/guild selling price.

In addition to the changes mentioned above, many other adjustments are being made. A complete list of all changes will be available on the day of the update.
Also, we are planning several new events for the end of the year, so keep your eyes open!

Another issue being addressed during this version update is the monopoly over certain monsters and items by a number of players.
The development team is currently working on several methods to combat these types of actions.
Some methods include the introduction of similar items, and new ways of obtaining items.

Articles 23, 24 and 25 of the PlayOnline User Agreement as well as Article 6 of the Finaly Fantasy XI User Agreement specificly prohibit the sale of any in-game money, characters, and/or items on internet auctions, etc.
Any players found participating in RMT (Real Money Trading), whether it be buying or selling, may have their accounts terminated. Please consider the consequences before partaking in actions that may result in the destruction of all your player characters.

Finally, for all existing and future Windows version players, we have developed a new benchmark program to test the playability of Finaly Fantasy XI on your personal computer.
"Vana'diel Bench 3" will not only display the stunning landscape of the Lufaise Meadows, but will also offer a sneak peak into some of the most exciting cutscenes from the Chains of Promathia missions! To download this free software, visit the Final Fantasy XI homepage, or any participating game sites.

This will all happen Dec. 9th I believe.

Could it be the Black Friday of FFXI? :)

This isn't making much sense, after the update the prices on the AH will not simply drop. What's SE going to do, put caps on how much an item can go for? Either I don't get it or the people talking to me dont. How are the prices going to drop? Wont this take time? Also wont gil sellers just work together and get the 10% needed to sell stuff so high? Some like me couldn't, but still, if the majority of the hot items on the AH are put up by gil sellers then this will still take monsths possibly to see an effect. Or am I mising something still?

My 'guess' with update is that they are mostly going to fix items that are notoriously camped by gillsellers such as Archer's ring. They are prob going to leave the stuff that drops from HNMs alone since they are not monopolized by one group. This means that we are prob going to see a big drop in the prices of Sniper's rings while things that come from HNM like scorp harness prob won't be affected by update.

It seems to be that mostly these rich jpns are the ones that are really raising prices of the HNM stuff. Eruo raised price of Noble's Tunic and scorp. harness +1 by 2 mill and Mits raised the price of serket ring from 2.3mil to 3mil!?

The new system is 'supposedly' going to affect all sellable items. But there is a way around it for those who make a living selling foods and other items of popularity. So if that's one of u guys/gals here's an idea: set up shop outside the city/town that your selling to. The most HEAVILY traversed area is of course lower jeuno (UUUUUUGH) so, just sit at the rolanberry zone and sell ur stuff ^^ that way at least u avoid the taxation. Ppl head out one way or another. But the key is to sell things for an honest price based on what ppl make in the game. I'm struggling just trying to keep up with the blm spells cause the ah is so dang xpensive! Keep this in mind when the new system goes into effect and try it out. If its a bust, then o well we tried. And on a lighter note, if they're going to try to lower pricing that way, they should standardize choco prices like the airships are. None of this pay 300G then 1.7k an hour later from the same place! I mean c'mon....

If you'll notice, the update says the FEE will be changed to reflect the sales price, not the taxes. I read this as saying the fee at all AH's will go up, not just Jeuno. I assume that the tax for selling from Bazaars in Jeuno will remain unchanged.
Of course this is an assumtion. Another upside to this that I haven't seen anyone else mention is the cost of selling low priced items in Jeuno like a 500g stack of Earth Crystals may not cost 500g just to put up on AH. That would make me happy!
