Stand outs for me include:

Jormungand Season 2. I enjoyed the first season, and am expecting more snipers, more Koko is loco, and maybe some overarching plot this time.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I'm a fan on the manga, and it'll nice to see it animated again. Trudging through the first arc is going to be somewhat tedious though.

Hayate no Gotoku is seeing a remake. I thought the first run had some nice gags, but having already seen them might hurt my enjoyment.

Looks like a pretty weak season. If I catch anything new at all, it'd probably be Jojo just for the absurdity. It looks like the first generation, though, so said absurdity will probably be pretty limited.

Recognized a few names, but I don't recall if I've read the series. Code: Breaker and Magi, in particular.

I don't think I'll have the stomach to watch Litchi Hikari Club. I seem to recall reading some of it a while back. Got to a part (relatively early on) where they Spoilerrape and eviscerate a female teacher and thought "No... maybe not."

Interested in seeing how the Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica movies come out.

I would really love to see Ratman become a series.

I was going through a horror phase . That was a little too... horrible. I don't see it on mangahere.com any more; it might have been removed because it was extremely graphic. They do seem to have a prequel, which I have not read. Nor do I intend to do so...

You're forgetting Jack the Ripper's fabulous entrance.

Also, Locke, @#%^ you for "forgetting" to mention a couple of details about that manga.

Ratman but it's one I want them to wait on the anime, let the manga get a good bit further along so there's less need to condense it into 12/24 and then slap on a random ending

Oh boy. Jojo part 1 is every bit as campy as I remember it. GG subs are definitely the way to go this time, ya tossers.

Hayate no Gotoku was disappointing. It was all over the place as far as genres are concerned, and I was particularly humored by any of the gags.

I haven't been able to find subs for Litchi Hikari Club yet. I'm considerign picking up the manga because the summary sounded interesting and I'm sure a fair portion will be censored from teh broadcast.

Busou Shinki might be intresting.

Continuing to watch Hunter x Hunter and Sword Art Online.

Ixion Saga is the badness SAO so so desperately wants to be.

Ixion Saga knows what MMO players want. Snazzy mounts? Is a raptor horse snazzy enough for you? You want phat lewt? Bitch check out my pimp ass boots. Are you a creepy dude who wants to play as a female character? It's awwright. (Note: dialogue here says "You can touch me if you want." Are you tired of sh*tty RP server naming rules? Do you want to name yourself something sexual and inappropriate? Congrats your screen name "E.D." has been approved. Do you like it when there's a character who looks an acts like a ten year old girl but is really seven hundred years old and thus marrying her wouldn't be crime? Too bad, she's eight and it is. Do you like inexplicably nonsensical fantasy weapons? Get a load of this. Did you think that weapon was awesome? Steal it from his unconscious body.

In one episode the protagonist already has two incredibly pimpin items. If this show was entirely about loot grinding, I'd probably be happy.


Note: I'm glad I was watching this on the computer rather than broadcast, because the most hilarious scene of them all lasted only a single frame. The first time I saw it I thought it was just bad animation. I had to go back and freeze frame it to realize that no, he had in fact cocked his sword.

I have a couple left on the Crunchyroll selection before I've seen everything they offer this season. That said, so far, no misses. Everything I've watched from this season has been something I felt warranted watching another episode.

The Jojo opening hints at going to part 6. David production is a small studio, and I fully believe they intend to pursue as long as it remains financially viable for them. The project could easily have cash flow problems causing it to be limited to part 1, but I don't believe that's the plan. The series has pretty amazing directing, and he does a great job of hiding the tiny budget they have for animation.

My roommates and I do. I'm a little worried it's gonna be all Medaka this season and less of her buddy.

Part of that could be the fact that you've read the books and are constantly comparing them. Personally, having not read the books it doesn't seem that bad to me. Yeah, the pacing seems a little off at times, but nothing detrimental. I'm still loving the show.

Psycho-pass is one of the ones that managed to make my "Definitely watching this" list, and it managed to pull that off before the first episode was even finished. I love all the concepts behind it, and the way it's being told. The characters seem pretty interesting, too. I haven't watched shinsekai yori though, I've thought about it, it just didn't really seem like my cup of tea.


Having read the manga, I can promise you that so long as the anime stays remotely faithful, you'll get to see the entire student council show off/earn their badass cred. SpoilerMedaka ends up being the first to fight, and is thus exhausted and battered as they deal with the rest of the badguys, and then halfway through, she Spoilergets kidnapped and brainwashed, and zenkichi Spoilerends up having to fight a brainwashed medaka who's finally demonstraighting her abnormal ability SpoilerGirl's a literal Mary Sue. Like, her power is so broken that when the other characters realize what it is, they're just kind of like "...well @#%^." By this I mean, Her ability is to instantly learn how to do anything after seeing it done only once. And this means ANYTHING. Including other peoples' abnormal abilities. And she can use them better. sort of. The funny thing is that despite that, I didn't stop being entertained, because it feels like an intentional parody of Mary Sues done in the best possible way.


True, but even without that, the anime still has a sort of overly fast pacing to it that grates at me. Like they're trying to cram just a little too much into each episode. It's kind of subtle, though.

Having not read the manga and not seen the most recent episode, I just assumed it was all to set up some ridiculous bloodbath for the final 5-6 episodes.

Are any of you watching "The Pet girl of Sakurasou" (sakurasou no pet na kanojo)? It's one of those anime's where the title may throw you off imo. It's really pretty funny.

So far I've only seen one episode. Does it pick up after that one?

I would love to see a 3rd season of Medaka going up against class minus 13. That was so far my favorite story ark so far.

Though it has its flaws, I'd say SAO is still my favorite show of the season. The character development is good, and the pacing has mostly settled in.

Yes. Personally, as much as I like the initial concept I feel it has serious flaws like .hack that make it utterly enjoyable for me. I don't want to be a buzzkill though so I'll just leave it there.

SOA is still my favorite of the season, though I'm not liking the second arc quite as much as the first.

They aren't, except in the regard that I feel both have serious flaws, not the same flaw.

To expound, .hack most grievous crime was perhaps the worst pacing of any series except Bartender. While SAO has some minor pacing issues due to story compression at the start of the series, Kirito is the paradigm of Gary Stu. Elaborating on it a bit involves a few spoilers: SpoilerKirito has access to a special skill no one else has, dual-wielding. This makes him the chosen and the reason for its existence makes no sense. Every female character of significance wants his dick. No character besides him really matters in the fights shown. While the LN might provide more specifics and explain away some of the apparent flaws, in his fight with Kayaba he seemed to violate several rules of the game such as overcoming paralysis with willpower and cheating death. And both he and Asuna seem to nonsensically forgive Kayaba for the murder of thousands of people. When he first arrives in Alfheim he is able to take on several more experienced players extremely easily, despite barely knowing the basics of the game. Leafa doesn't even bothering questioning or finding anything odd about how a complete an utter newbie saved the day. Sugo exists purely for the sake of being Kirito's antagonist in cour 2. He's dickish to the point of absurdity, just so the plot can justify what is inevitably coming to him. His sister Sugu also wants his dick, but it's totally cool because she's just his cousin and that's ok in Japan. She also wants his dick in game, but for the sake of a later plot twist neither of them realise who they are in game, despite her having a freakishly large poster of her character in his room that he's never noticed. Of course she's into virtual reality MMORPGs, why wouldn't you want to play the very thing that put your brother into a coma for two years? And guess what? Alfheim is only the second game they go to? This whole contrivance about having to go back into the online world will happen two more times. Nobody learns their lesson.

I do like the concept of an MMORPG setting, because it allows for interesting rules and mechanisms. Sleep pking being a very real and serious threat was an interesting concept. I wish there was more of that and less of Kirito saving the day by himself and getting the girl yet again.

SpoilerCombat in ALO is extremely similar to SAO. It'd be like being a badass in Dark Souls because you were awesome at Demon's Souls. Sure, there are a few differences, but for the most part, it's plausible. Also helps that he started out with extremely high skills because it more or less imports his SAO character stats.

SpoilerI think the explanation has something to do with his reaction speeds being the highest in the game. There was more discussion about it in the previous season's anime thread.
