For this post, the 27th such post I have made over the last 11, almost 12 years, I figured I'd do something a little different. You guys are probably gettign a little bored of the usual Ding style post anyways, so i'll save that up for a big one later on at 30k. In the mean time, instead here is a list of 27 little known, random, and entirely useless facts about Kaolians you probably didn't want to know!

1. I once broke my toe accidentally kicking a door jamb.
2. I'm ambidextrious. I write equally poorly with either hand.
3. I'm fairly allergic to lawn grass.
4. I built a crappy railgun in high school for science class, which actually worked pretty well.
5. The name Kaolian came from the Everquest 1 Random Name Generator and has nothing to do with Edgar Rice Burroughs, Afghanistan, or certain pilots named Morgan who may or may not be secretly my Nemesis.
6. I detest tofu, but i'm ok with Lima beans. I hate Cabbage but I love Brussle sprouts.
7. I have every single paper i've ever written on a computer since 2nd grade saved for some reason. I figure it will be useful in the eventual psychological post analysis.
8. I can't spell words. I've never really been able to spell, but it got much worse after I took my first German classes and has never recovered. It's apperently genetic as very few people in my family on my dad's side can spell. We don't know why.
9. I once had an IT job where one of the primary duties consisted of ironing.
10. I've been stabbed in the back by a crazy person, accidentally shot at by a .38, and punched in the nose by a toddler before. Getting stabbed, even with an ink pen, huts.
11. I've piloted a WW-II era C-47 Skytrain, an 120 foot retired WW-II era minesweeper, and a 1902 vintage steam locomotive briefly.
12. I'm an Eagle Scout.
13. I once had a hair in my ear grow the wrong way and make this annoying scratching sound in my left ear for months until the ear doctor finally noticed it and figured out what it was. It was very annoying.
14. I'm a decendant of Franklin Pierce, amongst other interesting historical figures apperently.
15. I've seen a wild Blue shark while salmon fishing out of Tillamook, OR.
16. I've stood on the remains of 16 wrecked ships for no apperent reason. The oldest being the Peter Iredale.
17. I design and build my own stunt kites.
18. I've never actually seen a mongoose.
19. I've built somewhere around 1,600 computers personally over the years, most of them for other work. I can assemble a computer from a pile of boxed parts to a fully assembled, buttoned up working bootable unit in 15 minutes 34 seconds. We actually had a race to find this out. It was fun. I won a sandwich.
20. I have a Wooly Mammoth Tooth in my rock collection that my Dad found somewhere.
21. I once sold books to a certain "Richard Starkey" in Prescott, AZ when I worked at the Barnes and Noble there. yes, I did get an autograph. I never did figure out why he was in Prescott though, since there really wasn't anything worthwhile there to visit. It was definitly Ringo though.
22. I once told a pun so bad, it caused someone to spontaniously combust. Now I can't visit norway ever again.
23. It's harder than it looks to think up 27 useless facts about yourself, especially knowing that probably no one is going to actually read them.
24. I've been shocked by electricity at least 14 times over my life, most of which occured when I was very young. Yes, that does explain a few things...
25. I play the Trombone and Drums.
26. I wage wars against cows because one of them peed on my space shuttle sweater my mom made while I was wearing it during 1st Grade dairy field trip. Since then, the only good cow is a steak...
27. My toes can make this wierd annoying popping sound, on account of them being too long. I'm not sure why. It makes it handy to pick things up with my toes though. I seem to be the only one in the family that developed the odd toes though. Which really gets annoying during shoe shopping time.

So there you go, 27 things you now know that you'll spend the next 4 minutes trying to un know! See you at 28K!

I once was warned by Kao that he didn't like my old signature and I should "shorten" it.

I didn't think an extra 10 lines or so of me listing my WoW characters was too long so I talked to Darq about it and she basically told me to not make Kao upset, because an upset Kao is a very bad thing. So I changed my signature as fast as I could.

Since then Kao has helped me out a lot by picking out which computer parts I need (or should get) for the "new" computer I built about a year ago, and he usually answers me pretty quickly in the Computer Troubleshooting forum if I need a question answered.

Which reminds me.... I am having a Kernel-Power Event 41 problem I should get his input on.... oh... this is the wrong forum. =P

It is home to a bully of a cheese business. There's huge dairy farms and a cheese factory in Tillamook, and they are bullies plain and simple. There's a small town on the Oregon coast called Bandon, that also used to have a cheese factory. About 10 years or so ago, they went out of business and Tillamook bought them out and closed their cheese factory. A few years later, they re-opened it, still calling it Bandon cheese even though it was owned by Tillamook. They then proceeded to threaten to sue every single business in the town of Bandon that used Bandon in their name.

I am not a fan, and I still do my best to avoid buying any Bandon or Tillamook cheese (which there is a ton of in the stores here) because I don't want those @#%^s to have my money.

My husband has long, strong toes. He picks stuff up with them too. He also pinches with them - it really hurts. He has a hard time with shoes too. Supposedly that's because of his high arch. Not sure if the high arch is tied in with the long toes or what?

I have long toes and problems with shoes as well, but that's because my second toe is significantly longer than my big toe, and yet I have duck feet with a very broad big toe joint and pinky toe joint area, and a normal size heel. I generally have to get wide width (or even better, double wide width) shoes and then stuff the heel area with padding.

Or wear stretchy spaghetti strap wedges, that works too.

Yep. The rumor mill after I asked around at the time hinted that the dumpster diving methods I use pseudo-duplicated them.

I used:

1) Seeding. Sell 1 BD, bury it under other crap. Fish it up later, along with other possible things.

2) Testing. Clear a slot, sell a BD, see if it disappears. If it does, dig out trash and rake in the BDs.

Right around when Bazaar finally got turned on, if I sold one, it no longer disappeared if there was an existing stack further down. Consequently I didn't have to do any major digging -- I just cleared one slot, sold one, bought it back and raked in the riches. It wasn't a 100% shot at BDs but it made it a lot easier to dig for them, and not all of the merchants had BDs further down. If I had to guess, it may have been a problem with arrays not referencing things correctly. But it did drop the price of BDs pretty well at the time :D

I dunno, I don't have particularily high arches near as I can tell, but then again its not like there are alot of normal size 15 feet for comparison around here.

Well, the toddler definitly was. The stabbing was math class, the shooting was target practice.

I thought the second toe was supposed to be way longer than the big toe? though mine is appernetly about half an inch shorter than my pinky on my hand. Which seems odd to me.

It depends. Toes come in all sorts of weird lengths. The most normal for those of European ancestry is the first three toes of roughly the same length.

It's funny, in ballet they describe feet with much nicer terms than they really are. My duck feet are called "Grecian" feet. (Found that out when I took ballet years ago.)

When you sold stuff to a vendor in Everquest, you could actually buy back the stuff you sold accidentally...at whatever the vendor would normally sell that item for if it was actually put up for sale. There's a limit to how many different items the vendor could hold before it dumped what you sold into oblivion, but it was a pretty big limit. Originally you could only see like the first 16? different items or so (depending on what the vendor was already selling), even though there was a lot more. Dumpster diving in Everquest basically tried to access those hidden items.

In FFXI terms, think of it like being able to go through an NPC's inventory list and somehow buying Khroma ore that someone else vendored because they didn't know what it was for and didn't want to bother looking it up.

I know you did NOT bring up FFXI to me.

I used to play EQ, but calling it dumpster diving must be something fairly new and by new I mean something that came along in the last 6 years or so. I quit EQ when EQ2 came out and have only been back for a few free weeks and such. I remember how the vendors work and I can kind of remember people buying stuff off them, but the rest of it... not ringing a bell.

I could have been drunk though.

Yeah, we had a different term for it: merchant mining.
