Item Collector issues? Read this first.Follow

If you're having trouble with the itemcollector, theres a few things you can do to make troubleshooting easier. First please give as much information as possible. For instance, the version of windows your running, any specific error messages you receive, etc.

If your problem is along the lines of nothing happening at all, or a 'no interfaces found' error, please include any information you can about your network connection on the computer its running on, such as what type of network card.

Things to look at before reporting a problem:
When you first start the itemcollector, be sure to go into options, under settings, and enter a name (this is the name your item submissions will show up as), and chose your network adapter from the listbox. You will most likely want to make sure "Start collecting when launched" and "Quiet mode" are also checked. If your a premium member and want your character data synchronized, check the "Upload profiles" box.

Heres an example of what you should expect to see when starting:

EQ Item Collection Engine v 1.21.5.7 starting up...

listening on ADMtek AN983/AN985/ADM951X NDIS5 Driver.
Running in quiet mode.
Uploading profiles.
Username set to: rale

Here, "ADMtek AN983/AN985/ADM951X NDIS5 Driver" is my network card/driver, quiet mode is enabled, my character data will be synched, and my items I find will be attributed to 'rale'.

If your able to collect items but not seeing your profiles updated, double-check that 'Uploading profiles' is there, and that 'Upload Profiles' is checked.

Next, check the text for possible error messages, such as:
"Warning: Not uploading profile, no cookie found.", which means you need to re-log into the site. Unchecking and re-checking 'Upload profiles' will ensure that your cookie exists, aswell.

If you see "Profile uploaded to server." then everything should be working, and the character should be listed on the 'Your Characters' page of this site.

If you see "Server returned an error on profile upload.", then this is a genuine problem. Try zoning again with itemcollector running to see if theres any change. If not, let us know here.

Finally, ensure that 'Test Server' is only checked if you play on test, otherwise it just wont work. :)

New t Item collector, I have a couple of questions first.

1. Does it / should it work on a secure wireless connection to a router / cable modem?

2. Can Item collector work with multiboxing 2 machines.

3. Can Itemcollector work with multi bixing 2 acc on same machine (wineq)?

1 - it should work fine.
2 - Yes, but you'll need to run item collector on both boxes as well.
3 - Yes, but it will only see 1 of them at a time. It will just ignore the 2nd one.

WinXP Pro SP1. I do most of the coding under VS.Net2003, incase you're curious. :)

I think I may know what's causing problems with 98/me users then. It's either because you are using XP, or .Net. Some of the controls and such in XP are not backward compatable with 98/me. Also, writing it in .net requires .net frameworks to be installed on any machine running it. Hopefully most users should have .net frameworks installed since MS was smart enough to include it on the windows update site.

Fortunately, VS.Net can still compile plain C/C++ without using any .NET extensions, and thats what I do. As well, I'm fairly careful about making sure to use only functions that are listed as being compatible with 98 on msdn. Most of the problems so far have just been due to undocumented issues that sprang up. The last one, for instance, came down to being caused by something as simple as the way path-names were being quoted in the filenames for saving profiles.

I still get:

When running the item collector. I have no idea what this might mean. I am running WinXP with an external serial dial up modem connection. Zoning has no effect whatsoever.

The are alot of posts here but i figured i would giveit a try. I have not been able to succesfully use Lucy which is kinda bumming me out cause it sems like it would be an awesome too. Well anyways I've been searching through this thread and everyone is saying make sure your save profiles is check I do not have this ability anywhere on Lucy what gives?
- Save profiles - If enabled, your character's inventory, skills, abilities, and other stats are saved to <charname>-<servnum>.html in the directory you chose.

Sianni: Try setting the memory reading box in the options window.

Dellmon: The profile options were changed a bit, you should just need 'Profile Support' checked, and characters should show up under the list on the profiles window (File->Profiles). If you're still having trouble, check memory reading mode, as its more likely to work in some cases.

I give up - I've read everything and tried everything that seemed to fit my systems. I cant make this thing work. I have WinXP Pro, DSL running through a Linksys 8 port switch and a GreatSpeed router. I am totally ignorant when it comes to software expertise - I'm the old guy on hese forums. I have everything checked as recommened, I dont have a clue as to ehat sould go into the box next to profile support which when opened gives a window for the EQ item collector and asks for a file name to save; choices are profile ( which I assume is correct ) and C:\sevinst.exe. I chose profile.

For network interface I oroginally had 2 choices:

1. \Device\NPF_{3E3948A1-4B4F-8CB2-DBD63A42BA80}-NET IP/1394Miniport
2. \Device\NPF_{C462947C-700C-4D57-92DA-AA0a578EFD6E}-Intel(R) PRO/1000 CT Network Connection (Microsoft's Packet Scheduler)

When I went thru the process to install the Wan interface director I couldn't find a WAN interface director and I was unable to locat the .inf file for my system ( remember I'm software illiterate) so I went back and installed the following interface:

3. \Device\NPF_{670D04E9-9D31-40B6-8DE2B55A62FAC194}-MS Tunnel Interface Driver.

I have WinPcap, Start collecting when launched, Quiet mode and profile support selected.

When I open up the window for item collector I get;

EQ item collection engine v 2.01 [2.15] starting up...
Useername set to EagleFlight
Profiles enabled

Listening on (whichever of the three above network devices that i have seleceted as I have tried to get this to work'

I think this is a fantastic tool - it just seems that a person needs advanced computer skills to make it work.

Try selecting 'Memory Reading' instead of WinPcap in the settings window. That mode should work as long as you're running it on the same computer as EQ.

Thanks for the response Ralea - I'll try the memory reading tonight when I get on. I played all weekend and when not playing left the traders up. So, I just checked for your answer. Of the 3 network interfaces that I have to choose from, which one would you suggest I use?

Ralea - tried "memory reading" and that didn't do it. I did notice that it didn't matter which network device on memory reading since they're not available as a choice.

Thanks for the advice - guess I'll just wait till there's anj\ easier way to get the downloads - like by clicking one button or something - I give up on makeing it work at this point.

I am trying to get the Item Collector to work with my character and I always get the following message.

Processing queue of 349 items & 0 books.
Connecting to server... (216.155.41.198:23183)
Unable to establish connection...

Once, I was able to get it to add items, but it did not load them all.

I have XP and the Network Interface device the collector shows is 1) \Device\NPF\_{AE8B6811-F305-442C-B947-663FF5B22E69}-Realtek RTL8029(AS)Ethernet Adapt (Microsoft's Packet Scheduler)

Do I have something wrong in Settings?

I've had to remove this. Every time I ran it, it would cause a serious error (similar to Blue Screen of Death, but WinXP) and my computer would reboot. I don't know why it was doing this, but it happened everytime I tried to use it, so I have removed it.

Just wanted to let you know.

1. Can we have a simple button to upload when we choose and not automatically when we zone? I have been in the same zone for a week and zone only upon death. So stats are empty.

2. Please post on the main page when the bugs are pretty much all squashed.

Unless your profile monitor is running different from mine, thats exactly what it does.

I click on file, then select profiles from the menu. This opens a window with all profiles recorded ( I guess picked up from the characters you have played). It shows servers and characters first names. I select a paticular alt then click the upload button. Works every time for me now Smiley: grin

Me too has problems making that tool work, neither with winpcap nor with memory reading it works.

???Might the problem be that I play on the localized german server??? Hmm as I understand the data it's just numbers and it shouldn't matter. The other tool I use (but which wasn't running at the same time) is magelo, which seems to work fine here. Hope that the problem will get solved. It would be a great help to make my Profiles up to date.

I'm honestly not too familiar with the localized servers, and havent really tested anything on them at all. Based on what you posted, I think it might be running a different version of the client then the english servers are? I'll try checking into it a bit when I get a chance.

A clarafication: Is there a way to make it not update upon zoning and only when I do so manually? There is really no need to update all that often in any case.

Server was down for a little bit, it's back up now.

Cognitur: profiles are only uploaded when you click the upload button in the profiles window.

I just discovered another problem,
My character seems to be up to date but I cannot see his Inventory or his bank.
Next problem is that after I updated the character he appears 2 times with the same name (one marked Pussi, one Pussi*) so the uploaded character isn't updated but created new.
Sometimes Backend.exe crashes but restarting item collector works fine.

Will it be possible to just update the char?

How can I have a look at the characters Inventory and bank?

(btw. The item collector and magelo can be run at the same time without problems)

I have a similar problem and noticed that my server name (Lanys T'vyl) is spelled differently between the collector version and the one I had on the web. (Lanys T'Vyl vs Lanys T'vyl <- note the lower case v)

The update occurs keyed off the char name / server name combo - with "different" server names in my case, I get two characters.

I suspect your situation is the same - what server are you playing on?

I don't see any obvious reason it wouldnt be working for you. One thing you can try that should work tho, is going into options and changing the mode setting from WinPcap to Memory Reading. At that point, you should just need to have the profile support box checked, and your characters should show up in the profiles window when you log them in.

The path option for profiles is just where they get saved localy if you choose to export them to a file.

The first item has a line "expiring item 26863" what exactly is meant by that? I've already updated this item into my local database so why is it being shown again even though i'm running quiet mode. Thanks!

The itemcollector times out an item 30 days after it's been updated. It'll try to upload it again at that point, and the server will just refuse it and update the verified date on the item, so you can tell if an item hasnt been verified by lucy for an extended period of time. Basically its just a way to have an idea of if an item's entry might be out of date.

There's a theory that the proc rate for weapon has been now found and goes as follows:

Proc Rate/min = ((100 + (unknown070))/50)

There is a table below from eqemu, another item collector database which shows the raw unknown070 values which lucy doesnt show yet via raw. This table and entire info comes from the sk forums here: http://www.shadowknight.org/forums/showthread.php?s=d3c930891f04269976201f8c4140d22f&threadid=19192&perpage=15&pagenumber=3 I'm hoping that perhaps this could be a little mini value under weapons that have procs perhaps to give even more info about the items in EQ!

:( Only checks for cookie for IE. Bah -- shouldn't it check for the cookie for default browser. I'm using Mozilla Firefox but I have to log into IE just to upload profile :(

The cookie should last a good long time... I'm not sure exactly when its set to expire, but I've been using the same one for months it seems. I use firefox all the time myself, but I'm not sure if/how to pull cookies from it, so I just logged in once with ie a while ago. :)

I think they are set for 1 year unless you dump them after each session.

Greetings!
I've been using the item collector for awhile now and have been loving it. All of a sudden though I can't upload my evolving equipment list onto my Characters.

I receive this error message when I attempt to upload :

Error: Permission denied, not logged in or not premium.
[b][/b]

I am a Premium member and I am logged in when I attempt to upload.

Any suggestions?

Item collector stopped working for me when GoD came out. I do not have GoD.

Running Windows 98se cant get Profiles to show any help with this issue? This is the message I recieve when I try to check things out for my self

I have exactly the same issue. WinXP/SP1 all expansions but GoD. Tried direct memory with no luck as well.

Is the server down? Trying to connect with the item collector but only getting

I can't even get the item collector to run. When I try I get: "Error2 An error occured while updating, please try again later." Using Winxp pro with all service packs installed. Linksys pci ethernet card. Direct cable connection, no router. Disabling firewall doesn't change anything.

I'm having a problem now. "Createfile failed on backend.exe: 32"
Tried uninstalling and re-installing and still same message. Any suggestions?
