I haven't played FFXI in 4 years. I had a level 48 BLM before I left on this server. Now I've come back and I'm just kind of curious as to where everyone went? Has the server population dropped over the years? Also, what all is new in the game? I have noticed that treasure chests are now dropping!
At any rate, I decided to roll a brand new character named Lionhartx and get back in to this game. Any advice or help is gladly appreciated.

LOL. Usually I am the guy that says “use the forum search feature”, however it seems my ignorance got the best of me. :)
Sad as it is, it seems that all the people I used to play with are no long playing or have switched to different servers. I am quite fond of Diabolos, so I’ll stick around for a bit. Although, it looks like it’s back to “Looking for LS.” :(

No worries, happens to the best of us . . . careful what you say in =10 (FFXI General) though because some of them are a bit touchy.

You're at the level where you have to solo BLM now.
You might want to start another job and acquiant yourself with all the new things for lower level people, like Level Sync, Fields of Valor, and increased XP on Easy Prey mobs (no more 12 XP trash mobs).

So do people not find parties to level any more? I havent made it to the dunes yet, still only level 10. I remember the dunes was the first real party experience one could get. The party system was the thing that seperated this game from all the rest!

People still pt in dunes, but a lot of people will solo to ~20 and quite a few 30+ . . . but there are less players in general now . . . best advice is to make your own pt's.

25-35 Quifm (with level sync to 21-25)
35-41 East Ronfaure [s] (on Colibri)
42-55 East Ronfarure [s] (with level sync to 35-41)
55-65 Wajaom Woodlands (Lesser Colibri, may have to level sync last part of it)
65-70 Bhaflau Thicket (Colibri)
71-75+ Bhaflau Thicket (Greater Colibri)

People really sync that much? Wouldn't all the extra skilling up kind of defeat the purpose of leveling faster? Am I the only one that is tired of fighting pink tucans?
