I think the most success in Salvage drop is to be diverse in what you are after. I found most people get the most frustrating experience because they are obsessed with specific pieces. 35 drop rates are bad, but when you average over a few 35 runs, something will drop -- may be not what you wanted the most, but it is possibly your second choice, or an item your friend wanted. At least that will make you feel better that you get a lower priority choice, or your friend gets something nice.
It is also very grinning and dry if you just keep going after the same NM. For the same reason, if you are making a Salvage group, be ready to diverse what the people want. Having 6 people all want Morrigan Robe... you are just making yourself a very hard time.
The Zhavolum 35 NMs have relatively good drop rates compare to other. I think I saw them drop something like 1/4 or 1/5 times. Bhalfau 35s are the toughest -- often you don't even see the NM at all.
