First off, Id like to go ahead and say that this guide is almost completely the work of Fedex, I found his guide on Allakhazam and I myself used it in getting my crown. Thank you for making such a great guide fedex, Im sure its helped millions of bards in getting their crown. As good of a guide as it is, I found a few things that were a bit lacking that I had to search else where for so Ive decided to add them in. And if you have any problem with me using your guide what-so-ever Fedex let me know and I will try and write my own.

Guide to getting YOUR Opo-opo Crown
Just about 24 hours ago, I received my very own Opo-opo Crown. From my own knowledge, I realised that many people were curious about this extremely attractive headwear. Many couldn't understand what was so good about this Crown which actually does -7 CHR and YET, its said to probably 1 of the best Bard headwear. Here's why.

Introduction to the Crown
Basically, this Crown has a hidden effect which leaves it much to be desired upon. Eating a Panama while wearing this crown gives you +14 CHR, +50 HP & +50 MP. Since the crown itself has a -7 CHR, the final stats of the crown would thus be +7 CHR, +50 HP & +50 MP. Nice huh? Upon receiving your crown your given 3 Panamas so make sure u have at least 4 free inventory slots.
To obtain this crown, a total of 3 Quests will have to be completed, of which the final quest: The Opo-Opo and I, will yield your Opo-opo Crown. Although this is mostly a Bard item, most people just can't resist the look of it.

Windurst Fame
Windurst Fame is some of the hardest fame in the game to raise, and unfortuantly there isn't any single quick quest u can do to raise it like all the others (except norg) and you need rank 7 fame for this quest. To help the people that were having problems with Windy fame here is a post i found by Nekky. THanks alot for the post, i'm sure it will help alot of people.

Quote:

Trying to get fame for this quest now. ^^ Very boring -_- but it will be worth it in the end. ^^ I have a tip on gaining fame for the other bards, though:

(This only works if you have a BLM of 17 with warp, and hopefully a bard of atleast 55 with Balllad II)

Go to windy port on your BRD and sub BLM. There is a home point crystal at about (F-7), save it to there and head over to the fishy guild at(C-8). There is a NPC taru on the dock named Tokaka. Talk to her, and she talks about getting her a Bastore Sardine. Head on over to the guild at the top of the dock (and pray its open ><) and talk to Babubu, buy from her a stack of Bastore Sardine. (or as many as you want, I bought like 8 stacks XD) When I bought them, they were 71 gil each. Anyway, after you have a few stacks and have talked to Tokaka, trade her a sardine. She will say its too small and give you 70 gil for your efforts. Very cool! You only lost 1 gil and gained fame. Not a bad trade off, eh? Anyway, so warp, and your back at the crystal. As soon as you get there, slap the two ballads on and head over to Tokaka again. Talk to her, trade, warp, repeat.

I got my fame to level 7 in about 3 or so hours of this, starting from level 1 fame. ^^ Pretty gewd, beats farming Crawlers for hours! Also, its nice to have a Dark Staff while doing this. And, try and listen to music or talk to some friends on the phone or in your LS while doing the quests, makes it a bit less boring and passes time faster.

Also, here is some extra fame help:

Fame Checker: Windurst Waters - Zabirego-Hajigo - (North F-10 upper right)

Level 1 fame = 0-10 quests
Level 2 fame = 10-20 quests
Level 3 fame = 20-30 quests
Level 4 fame = 30-50 quests
Level 5 fame = 50-70 quests
Level 6 fame = 70-90 quests
Level 7 fame = 90-110 quests
Level 8 fame = 110-140 quests
Level 9 fame = 140+ quests

Level 1: *Name*? Hmm... Sorry, but I never heard that name before

Level 2: *Name*? Hmm... Now, was that the name of the...? No, that was some other lady/man.

Level 3: Oh, you're the *Name* that people are starting to talk about. I've heard pretty good things about you.

Level 4: Why, if it isn't *Name*! I heard some guys talking about you over their dinners at the eatery last night.

Level 5: Hello there, *Name*! There aren't many Windurstians who don't know that name.

Level 6: *Name*! You'd have to be living in a hole somewhere not to have heard that name.

Level 7(Opo opo Crown Time!): *Name*! There isn't a soul in all of Windurst that has yet to hear the tales of your feats.

Level 8: A day doesn't go by when I fail to hear a tale of your deeds. I am proud to be a citizen of the same great country as *Name*.

Level 9: *Name*! I am honored to have the hero of Windurst in my presence.

Anyway, hoped this helped some. :D Grats to all Bards who have gained their crown, and all who quest for it! Good luck!

Quest 1: Gullible's Travels
This is the first quest you will have to complete, and requires Rank 6 Windurst Fame. In this quest, Magriffon (I-7) would tell you in a cutscene that in order to save a bunch of Opo-opos, he bought food for them etc, and now he's broke, and needs gil. The amount of gil he would ask from you VARIES, but with my Rank 6 Windurst Fame, I was asked for 10,000gil.
After finishing this quest, zone into Yuhtunga Jungle and come back to Magriffon for Quest 2.

Quest 2: Even More Gullible's Travels
Thie is the second quest you will have to complete, and requires Rank 7 Windurst Fame. If you possess Rank 7 Fame, completing the entire 3 quests will be possible. So remember the magic number, 7. In this quest, Magriffon will ask for more gil, and just trade to him the amount of gil he asks for. He would then give you a map and you would have to visit 3 spots in Yuhtanga Jungle, H-10,I-12 and F-7, when you find Blue Rafflesia flowers. Examining to each of the flowers give you a bottle of nectar, and when you've examined the 3rd flower, you will find yourself dizzy, and when you talk to Magriffon again, you will find yourself completing this quest.

Quest 3: The Opo-Opo and I
Finally. Enough of the crap. Now we're into the final and last quest. In this section, I will cover how to get all the items, though a lot of them I will just say get from the AH. In this particular quest, which is activated speaking to Lulupp the Opo-opo (found near the Airship Dock), you need to trade 10 different items to different Opo-opos in a PARTICULAR AND SPECIFIC order.

The 10 items and their corresponding Opo-opos are:
1. Lulupp - Bkn. Mithran Rod (Port Windurst/Fish.Guild)
2. Kukupp - Workbench (Woodworking/Amateur)
3. Mumupp - Ten of Coins (Outer Horutoto Ruins Mob:Ten of Coins)
4. Roropp - Sands of Silence (Castle Zvahl Baileys Mob:Demon Magistrate, Demon Chancellor)
5. Popopp - Wandering Bulb (FeiYin Mob:Utukku)
6. Bubupp - Giant Fish Bones (Temple of Uggalepih Mob:Tonberry Stalker)
7. Tatapp - Blackened Toad (Sea Serpent Grotto Mob:Brook Sahagin)
8. Kakapp - Wyvern Skull (Ifrits Cauldron Mob:Hurricane Wyvern)
9. Lalapp - Ancient Salt (Quicksand Caves Mob:Sand Digger)
10. Nenepp - Lucky Egg (The Boyahda Tree Mob:Knight Crawler)

To make finding these Opo-opos ALOT ALOT ALOT easier... I STRONGLY SUGGEST that you sub RNG or BST for Wide Scan =D V.good trick since some of the Opos Opos run all around Kazham like nobody's business.

Out of these 10 items, there are 4 items which are RARE/EX, which means you cannot buy them from the Auction House, and you would have to hunt them.
The 4 items are - Wyvern Skull, Ancient Salt, Lucky Egg and Giant Fish Bones.
I personally bought the other 6 items from the Auction House with the exception of the Ten of Coins Card, because I did not want to go through all the trouble hunting for them.

Bkn. Mithran Rod : The very first item. Buy this from the AH, it might take a while to get one in, but u can always buy a non broken one and go break it on the Selbina Ferry. But as someone brought to my attention (Thank you Abracadabra), with the new fishing system rods take alot longer to break,so it may be alot easier just to camp the AH for one. However u get it, trade it to Lulupp.

Workbench: Buy this from the AH if you can, it was sold out when I looked but I had lvl 63 Woodworking so I made one. Its a very low lvl craft (8) so just about anyone with any Woodworking skill can make it, and it hardly costs a dime to get to 8 if you want to make it yourself. Turn this in to Kukupp.

Ten of Coins : The elusive Ten of Coins. Now I dont know about your server, but mine is almost always sold out of this card. For those of you having trouble finding it, its under Misc. and Cards. I had to go camp this thing, as I was lvl 68 at the time I didnt have any problem getting it, the only thing that made me mad was a THF that got off the same airship as me and beat me there because of Flee, so I had to watch her kill all the cards and then wait for the respawn which was about 10min. Now, to get there you need to go to West Sarutabaruta and enter Horutoto Ruins Outer at the tower between F-10 and F-11 on the map. Once inside just work your way through he maze, after about a minute youll come to a door called Cracked Wall that looks like part of the wall, go through it and youll be in a room with Seven, Eights, and Nines, go straight through and youll see another Cracked Wall, enter this to go to the room with the tens. Now there are 3 Tens in this room, but the problem is they could be 3 Ten of Coins, or 3 Ten of Batons or any combination of the three. Both spawns I was there for there were 2 Batons and 1 Coins, luckily I got my Ten of Coins Card on the first kill, so just keep fighting till u get it. When you get it, turn it in to Mumupp.

Sands of Silence : This one is a bitch. Buy it from the AH as it drops of lvl 57-59 Demons in Castle Baileys, and we all know this place is no walk in the park. It cost me 20k but it was worth it to not have to go to that hell hole. Though I chose to just buy this peice, some people may find it more conviant to camp it. The mobs that drop this item also drop the Whine Cellar Key for BLM AF and are right next to the mobs that drop the Coffer Key, so if you know anyone that needs either of these keys it might be easier just to get a group up and tag along for the sand.(Thanks again Abra) Turn this in to Roropp.

Wandering Bulb : This one too is a bitch. Buy it from the AH as it drops off lvl 55-57 Ghost type mobs in Feiyin, that place is a hell hole and we all know from our experiences with Banshees in Qufim and Valkrum Dunes that Ghost type mobs are no piece of cake, it costs me 62k but worth it for my crown. Turn this in to Popopp.

Giant Fish Bones : This one can suck too, but drop rate isnt completly horrible. Personally, I went to do this as a 68 BRD, with a 68 THF and a 75SMN. Was easy, but If you take a normal tank in there you need a specific healer, because the Tonberry Stalkers which drop the Giant Fish Bones have this ability called Throat Stab which can hurt alot. It can take anywhere from 80-90% of the persons HP. I had the summoner tank with her Avatars so no one died. Personally, this took me about 1 hour, and you can find Tonberry Stalkers near the zone of Temple of Uggalepih. Just move around the area and you should see them all around. Killing Tonberry Cutters gives you an item which is required for ZM Mission 4, so this is like killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Give this to Bubupp.

Blackened Toad : Buy this one from the AH, it drops from lvl 41-48 Mobs in Sea Serpents Grotto so it can be gotton that way easily, but I only paid 2k for mine so it was worth it. And make sure you get Blackened Toad and not Blackened Frog, these monkeys are greedy bastards and wont take the frog for some reason, a frog and a toad are the same damn thing to me. Oh, and also there was none in a Jueno AH, but I got lucky and there was some in the Kazham AH, so try there before you go hunt it. Give this to Tatapp.

Wyvern Skull : This one has a very very high drop rate, and is dropped by Hurricane Wyverns in Ifrit's Cauldron. sh*t. Yes, sh*t. Ifrit's Cauldron isn't you're regular playground where you can walk around without aggro. Practically everybody will get aggro-ed in side, even level 75s, as the Mobs found in the area are mostly Level 70-75. Casting inside is very dangerous, because of the many Bombs you can find inside, which aggro to magic. I highly recommend you bring your Silent Oils and Prism Powders for this one. Safety > Convenience.
Besides Sneak Oils and Prism Powders, you will also need Ice Clusters to get past Flame Sprouts which you will find along the way. Near the Flame Sprouts are usually Bombs so please be careful about casting.

Now, there are three entrances to Ifrits Cauldron, the quickest way would be to go in from Yuhtunga Jungle, but the group I was with just wanted to Teleport-Yhoat and enter from Yhoator Jungle. Now the two places that you can enter Ifrits Cauldron from Yhoator and marked on this Map as A and B. I highly recommend going in at A because it takes less time and isnt much more of a walk than B.
If you enter at A as I advised youll go in at the bottom of this map (MAP 1) where is says Yhoator Jungle (G-6), when you enter have everyone sneak and invis and proceed to F on that map, once at F youll come out at F on this map (MAP 2), proceed to C on that make, making SURE no one falls down where the white arrows is next to C, because if you do it will take forever to get back up. Once you get to C youll be back on the first map (MAP 1), follow it around to D (youll also see Yuhtunga Jungle (K-5) written on this map, see how much closer you would have been if youd entered there? Dont feel bad, I didnt either.) Once your at D just run forward slowly and you should see a big valley that has about 4 Hurricane Wyvern) some Ash Lizards (that do not agro, but they DO link, so dont attack them) some Volcanic Gas (these bastards Link and agro by sight and magic, so who ever is pulling make sure they are careful and does not pull any of these, if you do, just sleep them and get back to them) and last but not least, the HNM that is almost always there Vouivre. This guy is a nasty little HNM with stories of it taking a full alliance of lvl 70+ to take down. Now your probably thinking sh*t, how am I going to get around this ass hole. Well, contrary to what Alla says, this guys DOES NOT LINK OR AGRO! YES!! I ran circles around him yesterday with the Wyverns and the guy couldnt care less if I was there, so this guy is absolutely no problem. I advice camping at the white line on (MAP 2) but make sure no one falls down like our DRK did, because it is hell to get back up and he just had to warp out. Just pull the wyverns here and kill them, u shouldnt have much of a problem with a good balanced team. I did it with 69 BLM, 69MNK, 70PLD, 68BRD, 60WHM, and 70RDM, went smoothly, no deaths and actually VERY nice exp, I gained about 3k exp while hunting the three skulls we needed.

Now if your smart and go in the Yuhtunga way, follow these directions.
To get to the spot where Hurricane Wyverns spawn and are found, follow this map and travel to D.
http://www.koolaid-ffxi.org/linkshell/space/Ifrit+Cauldron/Ifrit-1.gif
When you finally reach D, go straight and you will see a huge area where you see your Hurricane Wyverns. There will be Lizards around but they do not aggro, so you can get past them safely.
The spot where they are actually found can be seen on this 2nd map of Ifrit's Cauldron.
http://www.koolaid-ffxi.org/linkshell/space/Ifrit+Cauldron/Ifrit-2.gif
As you can see, coming out of D leads you to this big square area on the map, and that's where you can find the Wyverns.
I personally did this with a full party of level 65s and 75s, assortment. Tank was 75 PLD, and the breath attacks of the Wyverns CAN hurt even a 75 PLD alot. There is a nice cosy spot at the south of the square area where you can camp there. The Wyverns don't do anything much harmful, except for an occasional Dispel-ga, which isn't very threatening.
How long did I spend to get my skull? Fast. On my first kill, I got a first skull drop. In all, we had about 3 Wyvern Skulls in 15 mins. It was like a 99% drop rate. Very nice.

Ancient Salt : These are dropped by Sand Diggers in QuickSand Caves. The weight plates require 1 Galka, 2 Elvaans, 2 Humes, 2 Mithras, or 3 Tarus or any combination of the two. The only pair that doesn't work is two Tarus, u need at least 3, or throw someone bigger in there to open it. (Thanks Shotie)
To find these you have to enter at the southern most entrance in Western Altep. There is a tunnel that at C-11 that u have to go through that takes you off the map, the entrance is down in one of the crevices not far from the mouth of the tunnle. When you go in, make sure everyone has sneak and follow the hall, PAST the first weight plate and on to the second one. Once you go through that door follow the path around, left or right, they both go to the same place. Open up the weight plate and go into the room. There is a BIG hole in the middle of the room, drop down and there are the sand diggers. The drop rate for Ancient Salt can be as good as 15 mins per salt, OR as bad as 7 hours per salt. It all depends on your luck. The time consuming part of this would be the lack of Sand Diggers. You would have to wait for them to spawn, and there are only 4 Spawns in the room which you kill them. I personally just brought a 70 RNG with me and me and him owned the diggers. Just make sure when u see the digger start to cast Quake or Stonaga III that you sleep it, so make sure not to use Foe Reqruim. We got my drop after killing only 8 of them. Turn this in to Lalapp.

Lucky Egg: I personally hope you're about level 53-55 when you're reading this, because it helps alot in obtaining the Lucky Egg. If you are, try your very best to level in Boyahda Tree off Robber Crabs and Knight Crawlers. Knight Crawlers drop Lucky Eggs, but drop rate isn't very good. In about 5 hours of partying, we had 2 Lucky Eggs. It is easily doable with a Level 60 Party. I personally got one from partying, but being the idiot I am I went to go use a warp scroll and accedently ate this thing which sucked balls. So I had to go back with a few friends, 75 SMN and 70RNG and we got another one, it didnt take too long, only about 15 kills. Turn this in to Nenepp. Now Nenepp is a bastard, shes behind a house, and the only way to get to her is to stand by the house and wait for it to come close and you have to be quick and trade it to her, or else shell run back the other way, its frustrating, but youll get it eventually.

Where to find your Panamas
We all know 3 Panamas arent going to last you forever, but lucky these delicious fruits can be easily bought at the Kazham airship dock from the lovely Mithra behind the counter in the corner of the dock. The go for about 75gil a piece depending on your fame so not bad at all for 50mp, 50hp and 7CHA. Also, the cooking guilde in Windurst Waters sells these for about 65 Gil a peice, a bit cheaper but it is a long walk to Windurst, it's up to you. (Thanks Bigdawgy)

I think this is all you need to know about getting your crown. Once again I thank your Fedex for creating the first guide, it helped me a lot.

Edit March 25, 2005, 8:17PM: Added in the part about Windurst Waters Cooking Guild, Brk. Mithran Rod, and the Sands BLM AF.

all tonberries have Throat Stab, and it deals around 80-90%dmg to who ever it hits with it. so technically it could hit someone who has 10 hp for 9 hp. it can miss tho, as it is pretty much like a weapon skill.

I don't understand why anyone takes any route through Ifrit's Cauldron other than this one when they don't have to:

http://www.geocities.com/jyneefur/CloisterFlamesShort.jpg

This extremely short route will get you to the Hurricane Wyvern spot and Cloister of Flames. To alter those directions for skull hunting, simply take the cave at J-8 right after you fall. Head north, and you're there. Fast and easy. I made it on a single Silent Oil.

If you're thinking of entering from Yuhtunga Jungle at K-5 on this map:

http://www.koolaid-ffxi.org/linkshell/space/Ifrit+Cauldron/Ifrit-1.gif

forget it; you can't. That's the exit to the headstone for ZM5, and the only way to get to that part of Yuhtunga is to have someone go the long way through Ifrit's Cauldron and Tractor/Raise you outside.

As for the Mithran rod, breaking it yourself could take a very long time under the new fishing system. Rods just don't break nearly as often as they used to. The Fishing guild sells Mithran rods for 25k, so that (sort of) helps to cap the price a bit. Don't be surprised if broken ones sell for slightly more than whole ones.

Sands of Silence is dropped from the same demons that drop Whine Cellar Keys. If you know any BLMs who need this AF, or see shouts in Jeuno, tag along for that. These are also in the same areas as Zvahl Coffer Key demons, and are easier, so that could be a combined trip as well.

Abracadabra, if i'm reading what you wrote right that can't be done, there's a one way only path that wont allow you to go that way. Thanks for the info of the Mithran Rod, i forgot about new fishing system, but in jueno AH on my server regular rods only go for about 9k, so not bad. And the info on the BLM AF i'll add that in as well.

Bigdawgy: Thanks for the info on panamas, u might have just saved me alot of money, i'll confirm it and then post it.

You left out a little bit of info here:

The weight sensors can be opened with two Humes, or two Mithras, or any combination of the two. When I went to do this with my boyfriend, it just took the two of us to open the doors, since we're both Mithra. ^_^ Might want to add that in, so people who've never been there know about it. ^_^b

Great re-write, I'll give you the same rate-up I gave the original author.

Actually, you can. I took this very simple route myself when i got my skull. After the first drop on the way to the cloister, just turn left instead of right and follow the path until you get to the Vouivre/Wyvern area.

Also the drop rate isnt THAT great...id say it took ~15 wyverns for the first to drop, then we got about 3/5 more. As always, drop rate isnt predictable...just dont go there 2hring one wyvern expecting a skull drop. ^^

Just for comparison purposes:

I got my Opo-Opo Crown just this last week on Carbuncle. Here's what various items cost me:

  • Broken Mithran Fishing Rod: ~18k for an unbroken one; ~21k for a broken one
  • Workbench: No data (a friend made this for me for the cost of two Lauan logs and four wind crystals)
  • Ten of Coins: I was lucky enough to farm this; the price seemed to be a fairly steady 40k in Windurst
  • Sands of Silence: Not sure why the difference here, but the price was around 5.5-6k in Jeuno
  • Wandering Bulb: Pain incarnate. I could not get this to drop in Fei'Yin, and the ones that showed up on the AH got snapped up as quickly as they showed. A friend snared one at 50k; the going rate before the last three had been around 40k
  • Giant Fish Bones: This took maybe an hour of farming. I could solo the mobs as RDM62, but it was difficult to find them without getting aggro from other local mobs. And my Tonberry hate was...disturbing (551 Grudge with Phalanx). The drop came when working with a blink tank
  • Blackened Toad: 1k. These drop from Mermaid Ring part mobs, so they're really cheap
  • Wyvern Skull: Everyone says these are an easy drop. It took over an hour of killing Hurricane Wyverns almost nonstop to get the three of these we needed. At around 30XP per, I went up easily 1k XP before we finally left Ifrit's Cauldron. I think everyone's just lucky
  • Ancient Salt: An erratic drop at best. I could solo these worms at RDM62, but it took about 10m/worm (I needed to have Convert available for each one) and would get a minimum of 130XP per worm. You'll want a group. With TH2. And copious patience
Edit: Went down for ZM12 with a group. Had to kill a Sand Digger that was going to aggro during the fight. A Sand Digger. As in one. It, of course, dropped the salt. Sigh. Like I said. An erratic drop.
  • Lucky Egg: I saved this for forever once I got it in an XP party in Boyahda. If you ever go to Boyahda for XP, expect to get multiples of these

I guess that was added because of my comments, but what I said was:

    abracadada wrote:

Sands of Silence is dropped from the same demons that drop Whine Cellar Keys. If you know any BLMs who need this AF, or see shouts in Jeuno, tag along for that. These are also in the same areas as Zvahl Coffer Key demons, and are easier, so that could be a combined trip as well.

The coffer key demons are NEXT TO the Whine Cellar Key/Sands of Silence demons. As you drop down the 4 holes, you can (IIRC) hit the top ledge for testimony-dropping Demons, the middle ledge for coffer key-dropping demons and the "corner" coffer locations, the lower ledge for the "central" coffer locations, and the bottom of the shafter for the Whine/Sands demons. The demons get easier the farther down you drop.

Also, the spelling is "Whine Cellar". Without giving too much away, someone was locked in a cellar for being whiny. Remember, SE adores horrible puns.

Thank you all for correcting me, keep up the good work. I went back and fixed my mistakes on the Sands of Silence part.

    dajagr:
I figured out the major price differance between my sands and yours. I mixed up the two when writign this guide. It was the Wandering Bulb that cost me 62k (which has now unfortunatly dropped to 50k) and the sands only cost me 20k. Sorry about that, and tanks for bringing it to my attention. I had about the same drop rate as u on the skulls, it took me about an hour to get the three we needed but sense our lvls were close together we were getting close to about 130exp a kill.

Fedex thank you for your nice comments. It means alot to me, you inspired me to write this guide, thank you.

Dropped 90k on 2 items this weekend:
    - Wandering Bulb 40k
    - Ten of Coins 50k

I was curious, because I need 1 more regular item before I need my other 4 ra/ex ones, if I have the quest flagged as long as I turn the items in in order, can I turn them in one at a time? Reason I ask is once I get my broken mithran rod I'll have the first 5 items ready to hand in. Can I hand them in now, and then the last 5 once I get them? Or do all the items have to be turned into their respective opo-opos at the same time?

Obtained: workbench, Ten of Coins, Sands of Silence, Wandering Bulb, Blackened Toad, Lucky Egg

Still Need: broken mithran rod, Giant Fish Bones, Wyvern Skull, Ancient Salt

Thanks for the guide, I got my Opo Opo Crown Yesterday.

Wyvern Skull took about 5 Hurricane Wyverns to get the drop.

Lucky Egg dropped after about 6 Knight Crawlers.

Ancient Salt dropped after about 6 of the worms after dropping down the hole.

Giant Fish Bones was the longest drop, took about two hours to get the drop.

Overall I enjoyed these quests alot, also some nice cutscenes.

Does anyone know it this crown can be retrieved again if dropped? While cleaning out my mog house and not paying attention, I dumped it. I heard a rumor that it is possible to get another by talking to another NPC. :/ Sorta along the lines of the NPC that returns AF if you tossed it (for a price)... once again I've only heard about that but never had to use it. If anyone has any advice, it'd be much appreciated. Or am I S.O.L.? Thanks

If you drop your AF, you can simpley re-Quest it. If you drop your Opo-opo Crown, you're screwed, there is no way to get it back again on this char.

Has ANYONE gotten the Wandering Bulb to drop? -_- I've been killing Utukku for like 5 hours in Fei'yin now as BRD72. They are easy prey. With a max exp of 16, I've now gained 400+ exp, 7 cotton cloths, 5 revival roots, and 1 Kindred Seal. LOL But no Wandering Bulb. I have a sneaking suspicion they ONLY drop in Eldiemme Necropolis. My reasoning is that there are Treants in Batalia Downs (and none in Beaucidine Glacier).

    Please let me know where you found your Wandering bulb. ;;

Workbench 1,000 ... i crafted mine sicne WW is 40 and materials are way cheap

Ten of Coins 85,000 ... I camped it for 4 hours total and other than occasional NIN/THF had little competition

Sands of Silence 50,000 rarely on AH.... do not have as of yet but going to Play in the northlands soon

Wandering Bulb 60,000 rarely on AH.... do not have as of yet but playing soon

Giant Fish bones Rare/Ex... after 50 kills got drop.... was there with others doing alot of things so we killed Stalkers as well

Blackened Toad 5,000 common... still do not understand why anyone would eat a Toad-K-Bob

Wyvern Skull Rare/Ex... Was about 6 hours of a drop... Went with BSt to charm bats and lizzies and send after Bombs while we killed Wyvern.

Ancient Salt Rare/Ex... took us longer to get to spot than it did for drop

Shameless bump, and shameless self-promotion: I just got my crown.

And what did I learn after going through the entire quest?

Bring a thf with you when you go to get your wyvern skull. I had to kill somewhere in the neighborhood of 45-50 wyverns before it would drop without one. zomg.

Finally hit 65 but I've been trying to collect these items for several levels. Prices on Phoenix seem to be more expensive than other servers for some of these items.

Broken Mithran Rod, bought for 35k
    Workbench, bought for 1k
Ten of Coins, camped, but sells for 100k
Sands of Silence, still need, sells for 40k (or 80k)
Wandering Bulb, still need, sells for 80k (or 40k)
(can't remember which is 40 and which is 80)
    Blackened Toad, bought for 2k

I still need the Ancient Salt, Wyvern Skull and Giant Fish Bones. Keep poking my LS to help me with those. So far, I've spent less than 40k and I'd rather not spend the extra 120k if possible but I will if I have to since I want this crown asap ^^ I haven't even checked to see how often or how quickly those 2 items sell either. It might be harder to camp the AH than the drop itself ;)

Great guide, thank you to all the authors!

For me, I was surprised when I started this quest this week.

First quest (Gullible's Travels): Magriffon asked me for 30K. Evil man.

Second quest (Even more Gullible): Magriffon asked me for 25K. -.- The Rafflesa Nectar I brought back NPCed for about 2770 gil each x3 (so I got roughly 8300 back).

Opo-Opo and I: When the quest is given, an Mithran NPC named Vuih Steccopah appears and tells you you can talk to her again if you need help with the order. However, I cannot find her anywhere in Kazham. Even though I don't need to see her (thanks to this guide), where is she? And out of curiosity, does anyone know what exactly causes Magriffon to ask for so much more gil? Is it rank, fame, job levels, etc.?

And as an aside, here's what I have done so far, which may help others plan:

Broken Mithran Rod: 18K at Sandy AH, 40K at Jeuno AH.
Workbench: 400 gil at Kazham AH.
Ten of Coins: 100K at Jeuno AH.
Giant Fish Bones: I have yet to get these to drop. At 75, the Stalkers at the zone con TW, but even the EP tonberries do not aggro. However, fighting one without a link can be tricky at times, especially at the zone since so many tonberries crowd the area.

    Prices on Asura
Broken mithra rod: 70-80k (Non broken-25-30k)
    Workbench: 1k?
    Ten of Coins: 175-180k
    Sands of silence: 50-60k
    Wandering bulb: 80k
    Toad: 3k

Hardest part for me is getting people to help kill Wyverns! Even though i have died from the Ash dragon.

Trying to break the rod, got bones and egg, killing Cardians at the moment, solo'd the ghosts for 20 minutes. Next stop the Castle! If you can help me on Asura to fight Sanddiggers/Cactuars in Quick sand caves or Wyverns please /tell Tsutsui ^^

Got my crown last night ;)

Wyvern Skull was easy - just got a 75BST to help out.

Ancient Salt was a royal pain in the neck. Took about 3 hours with a 75THF helping me.

Lucky Egg - Easy, just offered to join a crawlers nest skill up party so long as they killed a few knight crawlers. THF in party so it dropped in no time.

Giant Fish Bones - Took me 3 hours to find someone to help, before a nice japanese BST came along. First tonberry stalker he killed dropped the bones ^^

Now i just have to concentrate on levelling so that i can actually wear it :)

    I'm planning to farm as many of the items for this that I can myself. So far I have the wyvern skull and the lucky egg, though I'm having freakish trouble getting my Giant Fish Bones. I've spent several hours for 3 nights in a row killing stalkers trying to get these with no luck. ; ;
(my tonberry hate has to be insane by now)

Prices of the items on Midgardsormr:
    Broken Mithran Fishing Rod: 70k
    Workbench: 5k
    Ten of Coins: 120-150k
    Sands of Silence: 42-50k
    Wandering Bulb: 70k
    Blackened Toad: 5k

I personally did this with a full party of level 65s and 75s, assortment. Tank was 75 PLD, and the breath attacks of the Wyverns CAN hurt even a 75 PLD alot. There is a nice cosy spot at the south of the square area where you can camp there. The Wyverns don't do anything much harmful, except for an occasional Dispel-ga, which isn't very threatening.

I did this at L75 with just me, a L75 thief who pulled and tanked, plus a red mage. I don't remember the red mages level, but I think he was around 68 or 69 at the time. We camped in a tunnel and the worst danger was that we had to becareful of bats that would spawn behind us at night time. We did it again later with a few more people with the same thief tanking and didn't have much trouble.

Yeah, just getting help to get the items, particularly the Wyvern Skull, was the hardest part. When I shouted for help to farm the item for the Star Necklace, people jumped on me with tells (I assume because it's a precursor to Promise Badge quest). The Opo-Opo Crown is considerably the Star Necklace +2, but it's like pulling nails to get help.

Bought all of the purchaseable items. Tried breaking the Mithran Rod myself to save about 20k. However, as Murphy's Law would have it, when I actually try to break it, in 3 hrs, I couldn't get it to snap.

Fish bones I duoed the first evening with a 75 MNK, then the second evening with a 70 THF. After 2 hrs, got nothing the first evening where I got aggro from one Tonberry Cutter in a room with 8 other Tonberries. They all linked, and it was BCNM40 all over again. I just couldn't keep up with all the DoT they were doing while trying to sleep them, but the MNK eventually finished them all off with ~200hp left. The second evening, we got the fish bones after farming for 3 hrs. I also died twice that evening... I officially hate the Temple of Uggalepih.

Picked up my Wyvern Skull last night. The drop rate isn't as high as this guide suggests! At least it wasn't for us. We needed 4 skulls, which took us about 2.5 hrs. We had several deaths. Radiant Breath is a cone attack that does damage, slow and silence so make sure you bring echo drops! You'll have to kill a bomb or two so make sure you keep up barfira and fire carol just in case you can't stun Self Destruct.
