There HAS to be an easier way to do this guy (need about 34 more wings from him)... how is he with a pet-burn strat? Numbers etc... have potentially got 2 bsts and one smn or bst to use - or can do it the way we have been with melee+mage which is ok (easier when friends with full empyreans come along to help tho). Getting there with Farsha (well working on the gathering items stages simultaneously till my inventory explodes) - just wondered if there was a more straightforward strat to make him smoother going?

I don't know if you have one available, but a NIN with AF3+2 shoes is pretty well suited for tanking him if he's careful, because that extra Utsu shadow goes a long way toward being able to more consistently block Lethal Triclip (3+ shadows needed to consistently avoid it) and prevent the loss of cruor buffs.

Got 2 of us with 5/6 items for the +2 shoes on NIN which we should hopefully get tonight... just can't help but wonder if he's got a pet-able trick to him because it's gotta be easier than grabbing friends with empyreans to cheese it up.

Mind you - watching the pickup ally go between our pops... we musta looked like Team Awesome in comparison lol.

Near the Bastion area there's a... well? That little round wooden looking thing. I always thought it looks like a well with wooden lid. Anyways, he paths really really awful around it, so you can kite it forever if you need to (you will eat the spells, but somehow it blocks the tp moves if you're exactly on opposite side). So, I'd say theoretically the bare minimum is one kiter (bst/whm with refresh atma works fine, toss cures on yourself when it's casting or when avatars have hate) and a summoner or two to do the killing. Well, actually 2x summoner could possibly do it if you were very aware who has hate at any given time.

Another way of course is 3-4 summoners and just stagger avatars that they don't all die at same time, no kiting required. He doesn't really hit all that hard. His tp moves are just cheap. >.>

NIN THF BRD WHM RDM should be able to deal with him pretty easily. As mentioned Ninja is the best tank as they are able to block a bunch of TP moves with shadows. RDM and BRD should probably sub whm to spam Cursna when needed. Keep marches up, use pianmssimo. Its important to watch for HP down too, as this is whats going to screw you in this fight. It needs to be erased ASAP, and cures need to be tossed right on top of it (i.e. very difficult for one mage).

As far as pet strategies, 3 SMN could probably handle him. BST pets are way more susceptible to doom and the HP down moves (i.e. one shotted) then SMN pets, but Ive had some success using Nazuma with HP Atma and -PDT build. Unfortunately I havent had the luxury of being able to try too many things with pets as we have been doing him in organized events and theres usually 10 or more people.

If all else fails, Apoc and Empyrean weapons works as usual...

Yeah our current best plan is to grab friends with empyrean weapons and bash the snot outta him (but requires more than the static group we have going).

Actually found him fairly easily tankable on THF the other night when doom got people - but less than ideal to have apocalypse zombie weaponskills going on... met marks for results, but not for style lol.

Based on my experiences fighting this, NIN + WHM could probably kill this guy just fine, though it might take a while. It's actually very smooth sailing unless you get hit by Lethal Triclip or unless you get REALLY unlucky with doom. Hell, you could probably replace the WHM with a BRD and still be fine if you're careful.

What I find to be particularly nice about using NIN to tank this is that NIN is also a decent job at nailing red staggers to get your KIs back.

Recently downed 8 Bukhiseseses and got 14 wings out of it with no TH at all, which -- although that by itself might be a limited sampling -- further cements in my mind that you don't really need TH for this guy; 2x drops is just luck of the draw and probably a 50% chance.

Yeah the drop rate on him is very solid for wings. 17 wings out of 9 kills last night, so only one pop with one wing. We did have TH though, and we procd yellow on every pop, not that yellow has ever been proven to help with Empy item drop rates.

Oh and this might sound obvious but it hasnt been mentioned, tanks should be stocked to the hilt with Holy Water for this fight to ease up on the mages.

Yep, evasion tanks win on him pretty well, but NIN excels because of the amount of shadows.

Thats the thing, the Zombie strat will work, but its generally slower than doing it clean, not to mention you waste time in between pops waiting for people to unweaken.

On another note, I finished my Axe last night! Massive respect to the folks in my LS who helped me deal with Bukhis. Tested it by kicking the sh*t out of Fafnir and was pleasantly surprised with Cloudsplitter, which was beating out Rend with a pretty average setup (Approx. +31 MND +45 STR 21 MAB and RDM sub).

congrats on the level 85 farsha!
This makes me want to get off my butt a bit. I've been only 1/2 efforted in finishing up fistule kills. Its just so monotonous... Most my kills are solo though. (real pain when a little bad luck w/ hate reset gets me killed >.<)

I've not idea how long bhukis kills will take me though... farming trigger sets and getting people organized sounds like a few weekends to me....

Yeah it can take time. We've been doing weekly farming runs in Vunk for the last few weeks to not just farm Bukhis, but to get zone wins and minikin for people as they've needed, plus extra Sedna spam for tusks and whatever else.

I think 14 wings last week, 16 wings this week. It's basically been finished in 4 farming sessions on weekday nights excluding 2 wings. In between NM runs I made sure as many people in the LS as possible had Varney KI's, not that we ever found much pressure on him, but it's great to have them lined up before you go in. We went in with 7 Varney KI's ready last night, for example. Out of the three NM's you need for KI's the only one that will give you trouble is the taurus, because of doom. Solo: Yuly destroys Varney, a good -dt build deals with the garouille, but I'd suggest spamming the Taurus with a group.

and thanks by the way ^^

We've been tending to do a batch gold-chest farm session once a week or so, topping it up with killing Lord Barney (who's generally up) for the full sets there... keeps us going through Sednas and Bukhises (mainly for +2s - just grabbing empyrean items as a sideline).

Tend to just get the two of us with BLU levelled to charged whiskers burn spiders down for popsets after working up some lights - I bring one of my chars on WHM and leech on the other one - seems to be a lot quicker and easier than killing that stupid gargouille self-mpk on his spikes in the most spectacular manner NM.

Yep we've been doing the same sort of thing, just with BLM's burning the taurus. The KI's from gold chests are really nice to get rolling in too.

The Gargouille is pretty gnarly if people don't turn fast, or it can pretty much one shot people with enough attack rounds per turn. Two handed tanks (without apoc) are probably ideal I guess, not that we're going to be screwing with it again for while.

I've never touched the gargouille. I've done a group spam of the lesser Taurus.
I've solo'd Varney a few times as well.
I missed the time our ls spammed bhukis, and I dont' know that we have many left that need much from vunkerl.

I'm probably just lazy :P I'll have to organize a bunch of stuff to get it. I like going w/ just 1 or 2 friends, and We've been able to do most stuff in Abyssea this way.

I'll probably do the trigger set farming combined w/ cruor farming in between expeditions for bhukis kills. blah, will probably take me 2 monthes w/ my patterns in playtime. I really hate fighting Tauri.

The funny thing is, after you complete this trial, taurs that aren't Khalkotaur or Bukhis will seem about as tame as a kitten in comparison.

Most things are probably going to feel pretty easy, except glavoid in your case =)

But yes, we pretty much turned the NQ taurus field into a graveyard. And to think, it used to worry me running across that...

I'll take Bukhis over Glavoid any day.

Bukhis has some BS moves too, but as long as you don't get targeted+hit by Lethal Triclip, none of it is capable of 1-shotting (only thing that comes close is doom, but anyone can bring a defense for that in the form of holy waters). And even losing cruor buffs isn't necessarily a Game Over.

As bst? I'd rather fight glavoid than Bhukis and I really don't like glavoid. The reason is easy enough to see. Glavoid is not going to chew through your pets. Bhukis will.

Doom is especially bad for beastmaster now, since we cannot charm and we not have the highest recast for a pet instead of the shortest.

Yeah - it's one that if I was going at it on a pet job I'd take my SMN for - even with max merits in it - Call Beast wouldn't really cut the mustard.

Well I'm now onto the Bukhis stage in earnest - picked up 80 Farsha this afternoon... at 14/50 Bukhis wings (I think - keep finding them in my mog satchel). Gonna be a while till my group do another Bukhis run I think though.
