So, I leveled bst to about 46 a long time ago when there where big xp cuts for pets. I gave up after paying 10k to get tele ynoats several times in a row every time I tried to xp.

After restarting a couple years later, I got bst back up to Leave at 35. I haven't touched it since then, over a year now.

I haven't leveled any job that low lvl in probly 6 mo+ now. The last was COR and I gave up on that for the most part seeing as how I have RNG and COR did the same thing with the added pain of buffs.

Anyways, as I sit here at 1AM thinking seriously about gearing up my BST yet again for a grindfest with the aid of FoV, I had a couple questions.

1. What does BST get to do endgame? Is it accepted in Salvage or Einherjar? I know it is severely limited in sea/sky and arguably dynamis and limbus based on the lack of charmable pets(not worthless, but using another job is probably preferred). I know it could sit in on a lot of ZNM up to t3 at least, and I really never plan on doing HNM. I have seen the BST strat for rostrum NM fight, but it seems outdated now that everything can be sam burned.

2. If not endgame or NM fights, what does BST do at 75? Just browsing posts here ppl are sore at the concept of lvl 75 BST, it means there's nothing left for them to do with the job.

3. Besides some af/relic/+1 for charm, do BST hope to acquire any endgame gears? Would a haste build just tear hate from pets, being more of a con than a pro? Besides Temp axe, is there anything BST lust for?(gear)

So, whats the deal? What is there to do once at 75??? All my other jobs have their uses, some can be interchanged at the same events, others have been outshined and forgotten due to the usefulness of still others. Would bst be just a grind to 75 and then put on the shelf like my nin and mnk for events, just something to wear for soloing some merits with FoV in sky or w/e?

Bst and endgame don't go together very well. All the Endgames u listed arent bst freindly so if u hav other jobs lvl'd u will be more usefull comming that. Bst in sky is ok... but if u hav rng lvl'd then thats what ppl would like u to come as. Now bst in ZNM and SCNM is pretty good. bst in eihger isnt exaclty ytthe way to go when u hav rng lvl'd. Bst is more of solo' small prty stuff, bst in an alliance can get lost in the shuffle doesnt really stand out endgame stuff.. to compete with the upper DD's bst needs mobs in zones u can use other wise it just average or alittle better than average depending on ur bst gear/skills. Bst is also crowd control and great for missions. Its not ur average job and not like most jobs that are out there very very different. 75bst is can solo tons of nm's... great at assisting ppl that need help with stuff... its just a great fun job. But if theres no mobs to charm like in SEA, Limbus, Eihger, and stuff bst as a DD becomes average it doesnt shine but it doesnt suk. and as far as bst gears its not that earth shattering u can get by on just af... i hav aurum askar hecatomb kirin relic af+1 i got all the gears imo that are great... fully pimped.. but a bst in regualar af can do pretty much same as me as far as charming... and ws #'s arent that far off either...So again if u hav rng lvl'd like i think thats what u saying then yea rng would be ideal. its 5am so i cant relly break it all down but.. im sure someone can explain it better. If u hav fun with it lvl it if u dont dont... its a game hav fun

Bst is good for low manning certain NMs and for a few bcnms. I have done a little end game with it (dynamis/Nyzul). In nyzul it's decent enough for the floor climbs. But not as good for the bosses on Nyzul. Dynamis there are deff better stuff to use endgame. Since you have ranger lvld... any endgame event will most likely ask you to change to ranger if you come bst.

But endgame isn't really what bst is about. Bst is about doing what you want on your own time. Learning mob movment patterns in zones. It's all about the journey. Now don't get me wrong I'm not one of those that believe bst is dead at 75. On the contrary at 75 you do exactly what you did at lower levels. Charm a pet.. kill a higher level mob.. get xp.. get drops. Rinse, repeat. After all this time bst is still my only 75.

As for gear. I am, as I like to call it, a "Charming Bst." I lust after anything that has more chr that I currently have. After that basic DD gear will do just fine, but at 75 you shouldn't have too much trouble with hate.

TBH I did not read your whole post before posting this.. and now that i've read your last paragraph.. bst is prob not for you.

But the only way to know for sure is to give it a go. If at 75 you discover (like many of us have) that you still enjoy killing T's with your em/dec then no, bst won't be forgotten. But if you hate the grind.. and are looking for the light at the end of the tunnel.. sorry. I found no tunnel.. it was light all the way ( even when i was eating dirt)

Edit: Random Pet LS disclaimer.. if you find a good pet ls then things are a little different.^^

1. Not much. You do have some fights where BST (or pets in general) work really nicely. For the majority though, BST is simply a DD - and one that is very often below par, or at least requires a lot more effort for the output. If you have other jobs available, and are not in a pet shell, then it's pretty rare to have a justifiable reason to pull out BST. At least, that's been my experience with it.

2. Mostly what they do prior to 75, just with a broader range of targets.

3. BST will usually go for a solid DD set too. You may not be able to use it solo as much, but in most other cases most of your damage is not from your pet. If that's the case, a solid DD set is a must. Prior to ToAU, BST can wear much of what WAR can, and ideally will. So Sky, king, etc gear is very similar to that.

The normal situation I have experienced, and have seen from most people I know in-game that have BST, is that it gets shelved unless you happen to be doing one of the rare activities where it just works better than most.
The exceptions to that tend to be people who either don't have any other jobs to use (or that have a narrow range of jobs), or that specifically choose to use BST or pet strategies because of personal preference (usually with pet shells).

IMO, the main reason to level BST is because you like it. Unless you're really gunning for a pet shell or something, it's unlikely to open any doors endgame. While at one time it was one of the only viable solo jobs, these days it's more like there's a short list of jobs that really can't solo FoV type stuff decently. There are certainly more versatile soloing jobs for NMs and the like.

That being said, it's a unique job experience, and can be quite fun to play. At the very least, it's off the beaten path. There's just no point to rushing it though, since a lot of what makes BST attractive is the journey itself.
