DRK Gear for GoV GrindingFollow

I'm coming back to play FFXI, having not played since 2002 for some casual fun now that leveling is much easier. I had some questions about gearing for the GoV exp grind. Essentially, how important is keeping up with gear in these types of alliance page burns? And what is the stat prioritization like for lets say levels 20-65? I would assume that this has changed since you aren't fighting VT++ mobs in these groups.

Just looking at the AH, it's pretty slim pickings, even if I had unlimited funds. A quick scan of available scythes and I see 20 level gaps where there isn't a single scythe in the range for sale. I want to contribute to groups as much as possible, but if it is reasonable/standard to upgrade equipment every 15 levels or so until you get to 60 then that would be nice to know so I don't waste too much time farming and waiting for things to show up on the AH.

In my experience, once you reach lv75/80, those minor skill ups you'd manage to see in a party will take you less than half an hour to earn solo. I chose Great Axe because shield break in a valuable weapon skill, but in the end, it hardly matters. Every so often, it would be a good idea to reskillup at least one weapon to use in parties. It doesn't have to be to cap, but reasonable enough to be used with accuracy food in a party.
