I don't melee in most parties (outside of LS parties where they flat-out expect me to do that, and attempt to tank as well... *sigh* The "oh, hey, let's have the WHM tank treants in Bhaflau" episode was entertaining until it turned into "let's have him tank two at the same time!").

Well, outside of the "okay, we're disbanding in 10-15 minutes" window. At that point, I cease to give a wet fart about normal party procedure (other than keeping people alive, obviously).

(Besides, how the hell else am I supposed to kill things solo for farming? WHM is not designed to sit back and nuke, even /SCH.)

been playing warhammer 40k with an old friend, have had my ass resoundingly handed to me all last week. its' what you get when you leave for a year and your gaming buddy has been doing nothing but tournaments the entire time you've been gone. it was a dark time for heretics and infidels alike. makes me a sadpanda.

I played 40k for a bit. Painted some figures, which was really fun, then got to the game. @#%^ that sh*t. Went back to painting more figures and put them on top of my friend's TV. Then we just drank and played 360.

i'm pretty excited to try some of the names i've heard from over on the west coast but can't get without trading (russian river being the main one, with the bruery another interesting one--hope they bring some black tuesday to night of the barrels). would like to have gotten a chance to try something by deschutes, but that doesn't look too likely. any beer loving DRKs or passersby know anything offhand i should look out for? i've had beers by about half of the breweries listed, but a few of them i've never even heard of.

also, here's 2 throwaway gachimuchi videos, the first "explaining" the second (edit: p.s. the guy with the blond hair is known as "creamstew ikeda", for reasons that are ridiculous, and the nicovideo users mainly laugh at his big @#%^ing face. there are sooooo many videos that have stills of his face but the chin is even more elongated. that sh*t cracks me the @#%^ up)

hmm... good widely available belgian beers are duvel and chimay. another good belgian style beer is la fin du monde, which is made in canada but pretty easy to find in the usa. those are sort of sweet and light, though they have a lot of depth (some chimay is a bit darker, but still on the sweet side, especially if you're used to bud/heineken/corona/etc).

if you're okay with going a bit more bitter, dogfish head 90min IPA is good, as is stone IPA. you might want to try some stouts too, like jahva from southern tier (coffee stout-- their creme brulee is good too if you like the dessert), or brooklyn black chocolate stout. both of those are available in the east... offhand i can't think of an "accessible" stout that's available everywhere. if you like liquor (i wrote this in a recent thread to bsphil i think?), great divide hibernation ale has some of the qualities of hard liquor while still being a great beer.

anyway, duvel and la fin du monde definitely; i think the top widely available belgians could be a good intro. 90min is also a lot more flavorful than what you might expect (it's kind of disparaged by beer snobs on the internet for some reason... not bitter enough apparently). you could read my horrible beer reviews and see if any of that sh*t sounds good to you (edit: if you want to try some stronger, deeper things to start with, splurge on palo santo marron by dogfish head or oaked arrogant bastard by stone maybe) or . hmm.

blue moon and hoegaarden would be easier to find than the things i mentioned, and they're pretty accessible, flavor wise (if you like them, allagash white, weihenstephaner hefeweissbier, aventinus, ayinger weizenbock, are some harder to find but better beers that would be natural ones to graduate into if you like the style). what kind of things do you like?

The problem with Beer is the volume it takes up. Do you realize how much whiskey, rum or gin you could be fitting into you instead?!?!

Also Chimay is tasty, Bluemoon, Abita strawberry lager and my personal favorite...Miller mother @#%^ing Highlife.

I am a lover of vodka and rum. Occasionally I drink mikes hard berry too, but that's probably because I'm a RDM.

I'm partial to IPAs, as far as beer is concerned. Especially Dogfish Head 90-Minute IPA. The 120-Minute is @#%^ing fantastic, but as I drink it at about the normal pace of other beers, I can't justify the $6.99/bottle, even if it is 20% ABV.

As far as hard liquor is concerned, I love me some Knob Creek bourbon.
