So I just finished OoT on the 3DS. Now I'm sad. They need to make Majora's Mask for it SDI!

Anyways, I needs me some Majora's Mask action so I'll need to dig out my old N64 I think!

The thing is it would be so much easier for them to port Majora's Mask onto the 3DS than to make Windwaker for the Wii U.

That said, the PS4 will be doing exactly that - emulating the games.

Nice feature I guess, hopefully they are cheap.

I like seeing the new consoles and such but I never end up getting one. It does sound nice though, to be a part of that online console gaming community and buying games legitimately and playing with friends and all that jazz ... but then I remember that all of that requires money. Money which could be going to all my expensive hobbies. :'(

Related to online: apparently DRK is going to be one of the first new advanced jobs to come out in XIV. Godspeed, new DRK. Make us proud.

FFXIV 2.0 is supposed to be easier on the graphic sides of things than its first release, so you should be able to run it on low settings with an older PC.

I don't know if FFXIV will fail or not, but it will be less like FFXI and more like a modern MMO, in case that makes a difference.
For example, I've heard that while leveling through parties will certainly be an option, leveling through quests will be the optimal method. Of course, leveling should only be a small part of any MMO...

The first phase of beta just started recently, so maybe more information will begin to be available, if you're interested.

For now though, FFXIV is my retirement plan from FFXI. When I have finally had enough of FFXI, I'm hoping FFXIV will be there to catch me because honestly, most of these newer MMOs just can't keep my attention.

Of course, there is also Elder Scrolls Online. My hopes for this one are low, but it could turn out to be amazing.

if other modern MMOs havent caught your attention, dont expect FFXIV 2.0 to do so. It plays just like them...

As an engineer, I too shall ignore it once again.

The singing is better than the brewing, but only because to get to the singing involves lots of drinking, whereas you don't need to drink to brew.

I just bought a Sapphire 7870 XT, which is the best card you're going to get for 250. The XT is key, it's significantly more powerful than a standard 7870. It comes bundled with Tombraider and Bioshock Infinite, power cables and a variety of adapters. Just make sure you have a powerful enough power supply to run it. I had to upgrade to an 850 watt to run it under load.

Good to know and will probably be what I pick up in the end. It's a good thing this one was pointed out, it would have otherwise been lost to me in a small selection of other 7850s.

Built my pc with a 1000W power supply, so that shouldn't be an issue since I'm only looking at one card.


The gpu is sold out on newegg, but this will give me some time to verfiy that mine really is dead. Current one is only a year old and it was working no problem last night, but when I turned on my pc this morning, I had no display. Integrated graphics were enabled, gpu fan is running, but the card isn't listed under the device manager even after reseating the gpu. Unfortunately, my google-fu has failed me so far in similar problems, but I've got a few ideas for tests. Tomorrow, I'll throw the card in a different machine and see if I have the same problem. I find this hard to believe, but it wouldn't be the first time pc parts have failed on me within a year...


EDIT: since we're kind of on rants.... AMD offering two of three free games with their cards... nVidia? $150 for in-game specific content for mediocre free-to-play games



EDIT of shame... turns out GPU still works. Was bored cooking dinner, so thought I'd give my gpu another go, reseated it, turned on machine, and I got video! Good news is I don't need a new card, disappointed because I was looking forward to Bioshock and Tomb Raider.

Unfortunately, the my huge backlog of games and busy schedule are the primary reasons I didn't buy either game. By the time I can actually look forward to enjoying either one, they'll be at least 33% off.

For a ho like you, I'd be shocked and somewhat disappointed if you didn't.

One major reason it wouldn't work here is that Japan's system is self enclosed. One Piece's story doesn't require knowledge of Naruto's, so on and so forth. The big two, Marvel and DC, all their stories are linked to common universes, so you have to take into account what is happening in Spider-Man's story when writing an Avenger's book. Then you have that manga tends to skip out on coloring their pages, and truth be told manga is simpler quality art. It just takes much longer to push out an Marvel / DC book than it does a Shounen Jump chapter.

It's pretty much all canon, which is the biggest issue. Superman's story A can't contradict something in Batman's story B and Wonder Woman's story C, so all three writers have to be pretty much on the same page on details. And that's just three characters solo books, since all three characters are on a team together for story D that has to incorporate story A, B, and C. That's just with three characters and four books. Keep in mind there are many more characters and team up books and specials and alternate dimensions, so on and so forth. Now, there's no reason that story A has to be related to stories B, C, and D and can be off to the side, all that is important is that it doesn't interfere with what's going on in those stories. The big problem comes from "major events," where stories A through D are all connected, and how stories A through D leads into Event Story E.

The art is kind of a big deal, but the biggest issue planning on how these stories work with each other. That alone probably takes like a week. The best example I can give of this train wreck is to suggest reading all the current Batman books. Detective Comics, Batman, Batwing, Legend of the Dark Knight, Batman - The Dark Knight, Batman Inc., Nightwing, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Batwoman, Batgirl ...
