Still, you're buying a server processor. That's just silly. It's like buying a diesel car and trying to race it.
Hyperthreading has gotten better, but still ten years later isn't really applicable to anything but a server and massive parallel processing environment where you have... you know... multi-threaded applications. As it stands you might have two threads in a game, one for the game and one for asynchronous texture streaming, while all the physics and stuff is just being pushed to the GPU.
Raw parallelism thus belongs in your GPU. Get something better than a 650 just for the higher shader/cuda core count, because that's where parallelism actually happens in anything but a server environment and why you don't need a f*cking overpriced hyperthreading server processor. That's why ATI has pulled ahead in performance as well: Games are pushing more and more shader-based effects and microphysics that require lots of parallel processing, so cramming more shader cores in your GPU is garnering more performance than operations per clock (which is the NVidia mantra).
So like a total derp, you're buying that Xeon processor for the supposed reasons you should actually be picking a better GPU.
I was gonna go with just the one line of snark, but realized you're truly making a terrible decision.
