Since the day that the bodies were released I slaved on those damned rank ups nearly everyday, I became an absolute king of maximizing my exp, I had worked it all out, got the first medal required for bodies - changed allegiance to sandy, bought rose strap and I.R. Hauberk and have never been back to campaign since. I'm probably mid-rank now or something ridiculous.

We did our first Kirin in a while. We decided to go do Kirin because I said so. That and my BLM assist for Dynamis - San d'Oria, we only use two BLMs for cities and one for Xarc, kept DCing. I took a look at our newer members' gear and holy sh*t was it @#%^ing awfulwith a capital @#%^ING TERRIBLE. So I declared we were selling a pair of W.Legs because the ls members needed gil far more than one person needed to run a little faster.

This should have been an easy win.

Suzaku's first summon. Chainspell, Shadowbind + CS Stun, 4 DD sit there breaking bind after a twenty minute lecture on the importance of not breaking bind. The CS stun is standing too close to the tank for some reason, and 2 Firaga III's get through his CS, killing him, as Suzaku kills the 4 DD that stayed on him, and one of the rangers.

Suzaku's still up when Seiryu is summoned, so I hold him a bit. Somebody hits it with a ranged attack and breaks my bind, killing me. The BRD DCs. They finish Suzaku off, then pull Seryu. The RDM/DRK RRs into Aeroga III. He gets a raise, and eats Radiant Breath. Clearly, this is going to be one of those runs because we have a @#%^ing audience of buyers right?

Byakko pops right as Seiryu hits hundred fists. I bind it, right before it finishes the kite PLD, saving him with 40 hp, Diaga III on him, and Kirin right on his ass. The veteran RNG saves him with a shadowbind on kirin. We rally, Seiryu gets killed, and the other PLD comes to pull Byakko away.

Things are looking up, almost had a scare near the start of Byakko though as Diaga III > Claw Cyclone dropped 2 idiots cold and the PLD to 4 hp. We kill Byakko as me and a RNG, then myself kite Genbu. We've already won.

After that, we just wail on Kirin, though we had to kite him once for a lap of the room to recover from AF since mp was low when it went off.

All in all, 40 minutes for the fight. 25 kiting, 15 killing.


W.Legs dropped. Handed out 750k to all there, save the two first timers that got a leser share. Not terrible for 40 minutes. We took lowball bids on Abjurations since we were over halfway through our 3 hour run time before we changed events, gathered, and got through that annoying @#%^ing portal. Hurray for 1/37 on Kirin room right?

Afterwards, even my level headed wife told them their performance was awful, but commended them on one hell of a comeback. I made them all stay 20 minutes late to fight a Seiryu till they got SHADOWBIND MEANS DON'T @#%^ING TOUCH IT. Seiryu run went well, dropping in a couple minutes.

After that, me and some of the guys lowmanned a Fortitude I farmed up myself, which went so smoothly, though of course no torque dropped for me, that we were inspired to go lowman Prudence. We found we can easily kill Prudence with 4, though it's much, much faster with 6.

Finished the night killing a couple yovra's for a member's gorget and good karma.

Making a Karma thread on the ls site was @#%^ing ingenious. It motivates people to help others, and lets people find help. Since I used my awesome ability to influence people's minds with my high CHR, and gave that lecture about striving to reach a goal of saying yes to helping ls mate 4 out of 5 times it's asked, or 80% for you math failures, people have been spending alot less time sitting on their ass and sucking in WG, and more time farming waters, gorgets, obis, KSNM, ISNM, forced pops, etc with ls mates.

Hopefully you have a WHM who's (1) unweakened and (2) actually knows how to tank things for up to five minutes in that situation.

If (1) isn't the case, your WHM(s) fail.
If (2) isn't the case... well, your WHM(s) fail still, just not as much (learning how to tank on WHM isn't easy, but it's worthwhile).

(If mini-Genbu's below about 30%, and the WHM has either a decent PDT- setup or a good Haste setup [or, preferably, both], this can probably be extended to the amount of time it'll take the WHM to solo mini-Genbu down.)

Really, people need to learn how to do more than just what's normally expected of them. Anything else is a recipe made with liberal fail.

WHM/SCH straight tanking genbu, not only that but stright tanking genbu while healing a PLD/NIN and a SAM/WAR that are fighting Byakko with no other real support.

Also, expecting a WHM/SCH to tank a god for 5 minutes is @#%^ing retarded. The @#%^er hit me for ~300 damage with -30pdmg%, Phalanx, and a taco. You're so full of sh*t and/or illiterate it's painful.

Not to mention it's completely dumb as @#%^ since ANY JOB IN THE GAME can just take an action on Genbu and run him around a couple minutes till everyone was ready again.

Yeah... But how is that more efficient than just having someone kite it while you wait on rez? Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that you could hold it for ~2-4 minutes solo as a WHM, but it'd be more efficient to kite it. At the very least, you're conserving your MP pool so that you can jump back in as a healer when everyone is back up.

And yet it shaved at least 60 damage off of Genbu's attack round, and saved me from dying. DA + Water proc left me at about 30 hp after SS + ~300 damage.



Eating 2 hits isn't wise since between DAs, and Enwater procs, he can kill just about any mage easily.

Why don't you go fraps us a Genbu where you tank it solo for 2-5 minutes for us.



And my mule's level 1 BLM can hold genbu for 4 days by simply using his @#%^ing legs FOR FREE.

People like that piss me off, too. They're the main reason I don't play much anymore. I figure if they're going to give me sh*t, when I show up to events I need nothing from then they can go f*ck themselves.

Example: For 6 months I showed up to every Limbus run I was able to. My jobs are MNK, WAR & NIN. I don't need limbus, but I show up to help the ls. Some new guy gave me sh*t about something, I can't really remember what, but I know it pissed me off enough to think "F*ck it" and stop helping. Blegh, pricks.

I would offer a place in my social on asura to goof off and lowman stuff, but asura is a @#%^ing hellhole and I wouldn't do that to you. The only reason I can stand to be here is several of my long time friends started playing again.

That's what kept me on Diabolos for so long but alas, they are all gone now. Everyone else on this server either hates me or doesn't know who the @#%^ I am so I float about crafting and shouting for Nyzul climb.

Im not against doing dynamis/limbus all the boring stuff but damnit...I want to kill HNMs a few times before this ride ends ;_;

I REALLY miss doing einherjar, bahamut, kirin and dynamis tav.

I would love to get a few of those titles...salvage would be cool to try also.

Eh I thought of a bunch of things to do for a 3k ding but I can't really be bothered.

Yay happy 3k. Watched some battlestar galactica, was pretty cool.

also I'm kinda the same aru, I kind of run more for other people than myself - I pretty much constantly try to balance progress and enjoyability for my members. I don't like making people come as jobs they don't want to be on, especially as farming, but they're so loyal they'll play as whatever job anyway ;~;. To be honest a good part of my LS don't need much from sky at all, they just come cause it's fun.

By the way, sky is literally all I do on FFXI now. I got a spare genbus shield for my BLU but it's still on 65 and I have a feeling it'll never escape that level...

I'll be a student soon so I have no idea what I'll be doing. It'll also mean I'll no longer be able to attend sky times (3:30pm in my time) so... who knows.

Also I'll need a damned job. Unemployment is both awesome and sucky. :<

I grabbed the Abj from the last Kirin I ever did, but never bothered to buy the harness. I imagine that it's still sitting uselessly in storage.

Having trouble with Byakko isn't a good sign, but when our main tank and healers were away, and we tried to let the new members play PLD and WHM, and god if it wasn't hell. For 8 days we couldn't take sh*t, it was horrible.

It's a side effect of our recruitment. I sometimes can't bring myself to not accept anyone willing/trying to learn, and willing to level multiple useful jobs. Some of our best members were total gimps that refused to realize they were nowhere near ls requirements to join, but when I interviewed them, would not take @#%^ off for an answer.

I don't mind getting gear for new members that stick around, it just really annoys me when I get people gear, especially a D.Chap that could have been over 1mil in everyone's pocket, and then they douche out and try to stir sh*t and jump ship.

Buy pop items with your sky bank.

Take the shining cloths/behemoth hides/Dingots. Sell them, and buy sky pops (or other pops, whatever.) You can split the money from those items to everyone present, but it ends up being a pretty meh payout, unless you're running with a pretty small group.

Along with selling random craft items, you can also sell any kirin's osodes that drop (a very common drop) and buy more pop items with that gil. I'd let any job that needs it get a hold of one first, but after that it's a nice money item to keep the pop items flowing.

My shell started doing this, instead of paying out incredibly meh payouts, and doubled the number of gods we fought in a regular sky session. Since the point of sky = gear, why not?
