Hmmm, Shadow BreastplateFollow

I was looking at this piece and thinking it really doesn't get any love. I've seen maybe 5 on Bismarck. While talking about it with a friend, i called it a Byrnie+2 or an Ares's Cuirass-1. He didn't get my logic, so i thought i'd check here and see if i know wtf i'm talking about.

Let's look at some similar pieces of gear:

Now, i'm NOT advocating byrnie+1 on DRK at all. No BAADDDD. Nor am i saying that shadow breastplate is on par with Ares's. Ares's is clearly a better piece. What i AM pointing out though is that this seems to be a pretty decent, SITUATIONAL, overlooked piece, especially if you are unlikely to get an Ares's Body anytime soon. Yeah, ares's has 2 more str and vit and 1 less attack. yes, ares's doesn't have any negative stats and in fact boosts hp and mp, and this has -3 dex, agi, mnd, int, and chr, but unlike ares's, shadow also sports acc+5. finally in place of refresh, it has 2 hp/tic regen. I'm not saying drop everything and go out and get one, i'm just sick of people constantly dismissing it as trash

My LS is full of SAM's that fulltime askar ._. they still get all the buffs while i'm put in the tank party to sometimes get haste

Umm DC's in Nyzul & assaults, and low eva mobs in campaign made situational armor more interesting and worth purchasing...

I'd say Ares, Aurum, Shadow, worth looking into. At the very least, very pretty town gear.

As for 3 mil

2 mil = berk+1
1 mil = plastron

That was my choice, refresh idle piece is nice, plastron fun to wear in special events/Olympics.

Especially if your merited to the teeth.

No point in being in the upper 1% if the tank and rest of the group won't match you. Your just going to end up tanking or face planted, reducing your performance with down time/tanking time.

Match your group, edge slightly above them, don't drown them. Especially in stuff like dynamis where everyone even the rejects get to go.

If you can't tolerate it, do small man events with the elite minority.

In other events, enjoy yourself. Even I have to gimp myself from time to time when it gets too hot for me. And i'm not part of the elite by any means.

got about 30 people ahead of me on that. sh*t's situational anyway. if acc or crits (looking at the dex on em) isn't an issue, then shadow breastplate is a harder hitting piece with 10 more attack than adaberk

but yes, i will be getting adaberk eventually

EDIT: also, Odin's being a greedy bastard. one e body so far for us, lots of m. bodies though -.-

random thought: why the hell doesn't he drop N.body? why is kirin still the only place to get that?

The abjurations odin drops are mostly from ground kings that can't be popped, hence why kirin drops are kirin only still.

It was a solution to not being able to get abj unless you botted the land kings.

As a former "actual tank", I heartily endorse this. The awesome DD's I had to tank for forced me to become the best PLD I could be. Without them, I wouldn't have gotten to where I was. If they take offense to it... just keep doing it. They'll either learn, or your shell will eventually just say, "Can you come on WHM instead? We're going to let the DRK tank."

Learn to tank better on drk. In dynamis outside of demons, its not hard whats so ever. /Sam has Seigan+ third eye or if you have to /nin has shadows. Dread spikes(owsum for mnks,thf PDs) drain, drain II, aspir, stun, weapon bash. Tweak your damage taking set, no reason you cant have fun ripping away at mobs.

If you want to use SE in dyna learn how to properly use it and what times are best. If you have a good whm/healer you could get away with abusing it if you knew what you were doing, and when, not very smart guillo+SE and taking EES and dying instantly.


Aside from SAMs natural buffs, a lot of the time drk gets put on the back DD burner vs SAMs, WARs, maybe RNGs, is because it takes a lot more gear tweaking and imo more aggressive play to really out perform the other jobs.

I agree with Nameless, LR and Souleater really put drk up on top DD platform.

If you really love being on DRK, put a lot of love into your job(like anyjob you level tbh) play it to its fulliest, become a macro~whore(it helps a lot) disect your gear combos and camps/mobs youll be at or upagainst. Make several sets for different events, etc etc. More people will notice you when you're a better player than a better job.

I love showin up to events in 3/5 Black set, and have ppl go ZOMG HOW DO YOU STAY ALIVE!

Then swap into berk+1 and other gear when actually fighting. lol

I honestly did not know pc meant piece. Personally I don't understand why you would abbreviate a 5 letter word which doesn't even really see that much use. I can overlook stuff like "u" when someone is texting or instant messaging because it is used so often and the purpose of texting/IM'ing is instant communication. It's also understandable to abbreviate a longer word or phrase you intend to use often in after you spell it out the first time as it will be obvious what you're referring to and save a good chunk of space, like when I used IM'ing.

That said, I only say something if I'm having trouble understanding what the person is trying to communicate.

In all fairness, we didn't know that before you told us. Or at least I didn't know. Had we known, this argument probably wouldn't have started (although you speak English as a second language better than some do as a first language, so it's a fairly easy mistake to make)

Sorry I overreacted, It was just my first post on this site in over a year. Stopped posting cause I couldn't post without getting insulted so stopped. Then first post on here with, what I thought was helpful information, got graded on my English again. So I snapped. To explain my use of pc. I work in a manufacturing shop. As you can guess, I use the word pc. and pcs. a lot so its automatic for me to type it that way. Same thing goes with ea. = each. Its retarded to abbreviate both of them, but its also habit. A retarded habit.

When I see "pc" I think "personal computer", the only time I can recall seeing it used as "piece" was referring to fried chicken lol
