Can easily be solo'd by RDM BLM SCH RNG COR etc, basically anything that can hurt it from a distance. Movement speed+ isn't necessary, though I suppose it helps for getting back into position to cast faster. There's a rock to the south of him (near the martello) where you can basically pin him at the top of the rock by running around the bushes at the bottom. Nuke when it's out of its shell (T1-3 usually) and stay 20' away when it's inside, lest you find yourself deaded by a 6 sec cast -aga4. If it starts casting, just run out to 40' (or let shadows take hits from the AMIIs giving you time to hit it unresisted). Also, it WILL start to go unclaimed after about 30 secs of kiting, so when you see it stop moving, be ready to toss a spell on it to secure claim so that others can't steal it from you.
