Added DD Grips to DD section, and Wivre Shield/+1 to XP 10-60 and Endgame Tanking.

Possibly adding Greatswords if this update today doesn't completely diminish it's usefullness.

I've been working out of this guide for the past week without realizing you were responsible for it. =P It's the most comprehensive guide I've seen on any FFXI job ever, by the way; thanks for all your hard work. Right now, bringing up my baby PLD for a voyager sallet run and just finished the cache-nez quest. ^^

kite shield def 20
damage taken -2% (this is magical and physical, like defending ring)


Granted by that level there are enmity shields and such... Still I think this item is very underrated.


And from the haste/fast cast list:

Warlock's Mantle
latent effect: enhances fast cast (same value as loquacious)
(/RDM to activate latent, comes from a BCNM 30)

Well I would like to thank Coda for doing up the guide.

I would also like thank everyone else for the other guides as well.
After reading on how to keep hate. I have chaged my gear around. This works for me very well. So far i haven't had much trouble with keeping hate or if i lost it i got it back fairly easy.

Honor Sword.
Viking Shield.
Happy Egg.
Valkries(sp) mask.
Medevil collar.
Drone/ Buckler earrings.
Brigadine (sp).
Elders gloves.
Woodsman/ Verner ring. I have electrum rings as well if i want the extra mp.
High breath mantel.
Tilt belt.
Kampf legs.
Elders sandles.

Food I am using the Tavsian(sp)Tacos.

Not a bad option for a DD shield, if you're looking to squeeze out every last drop of precious Haste, though if you're lucky the Besieged latent won't often be used...

The Iron Ram set pieces that have been released so far impress me to say the least. From what I've heard we can expect at least two more pieces to be released amid the last 3 ranks, at least. If they in any way reflect the pieces already out it will quite a significant addition. Hopefully the last pieces will share the Set bonus, which would put the elemental def of the set around 20, combined already with lots of Enmity and MDB and HP (albeit lower def than some contemporary endgame pieces, you can't have it all).

Figured you probably want to add the two new Iron Ram pieces to the Magic Defense Bonus gear. The items and levels are:

68: Iron Ram Hose (MDB +4)
68: Iron Ram Greaves (MDB +3)

Also, both pieces will add an additional +10 resist to all elements when worn with the other two Iron Ram pieces (Sallet and Dastanas).

In addition, all the pieces are great for enmity and kiting gear, so consider adding them both to the endgame tanking gear and 60-75 tanking gear.

I've added Aurum and Iron Ram gear, and a couple random weapons.
I also deleted a few items that are incredibly outdated and have very easy to obtain/cheap to buy upgrades, making them completely obsolete.

I still need to add in some Einherjar drops and some more Zeni/Sandworm items.

If anyone has a list compiled of the Zeni/WOTG gear, toss me the link please.
I'll try to get everything updated in the next few weeks.

I'll also put up specific Fire Earth and Ice setups, since those are the most commonly used.

I wouldn't worry too much about Healing, it will eventually catch up and from what I've heard you can spam cure Generals in Beseiged.

Absolutely, I'd highly recommend full DD setup for a Greater merit PT.
I know that some PLDs have done more traditional tanking against them, personally I never had a problem in a DD setup.

Ok, I'm not about to get into the debate of turtle vs. DD-build.
Didn't want to make a new thread either, and this seems the most appropriate place to ask.

I'm just looking for some recommendations for what to pick up as I grind to 75.
Currently 56PLD, have full AF.

Fourth Armet, Cuirass, Cuisses, AF boots+gloves.
Spike Earrings, Woodsman/Jaeger, Swift/Life/Warrior+1 Belt
High Breath/Gaia Mantle, Spike Neck/Parade Gorget

Have:
Haubergeon, IR Shield, Chiv. Chain. Joytoy already.

Questions:
Is Gluttony really -that- important until Mac.+1?
What AF pieces should I glue to my body until 75, other than boots?
RK Chain or Fourth Cuirass?

Am i blind or do i not see a lvl 57 Gluttony Sword on there?

If you update I would add the Gothic gear. STR, DEX and +4 Enmity @ 43, booya.

Did you consider also the Shadow set?
The body alone is +25 atk
