You know you've been a pld too long when...Follow

When in a party and you hear your voke ready sound <call7> go off and instinctively reach for your Provoke macro only to realize:

A) Some one else is using that call to let people know when they have tp

and

B) you are leveling brd...

Yeeeeah... guilty. v.v

You watch the hume PLD in the intro movie charge right into the leading line of orcs (and summarily get tossed aside) with a huge surge of pride.


Oh, and you remark with wonder that the Elvaan RNG in the intro movie actually hit something :-P

You know youve been a pld too long when...
-you give nin's dirty looks
-you feel completly comfartable lieing face down in the dirt
-if a pty member dies from an AoE attack you feel like giving them gil to compensate
-you feel guilty lvl nin for ballista and begin to wonder if ballista is worth having to touch the nin job

You try to tank in the Dunes as a level 12 DRG, and there's already a PLD in your party. ><

So many of these are so true lol
Here are some, probably have already been added

-When you want to solo tank something, even if its meant to be duo tanked, just to prove you can
-You feel wrong fighting without sword/shield or staff
-You "forget" to put up Utsusemi/Stoneskin while subbing NIN or RDM, just to see some damage done to you
-You know that you have no wheres near as much money as you need to buy some awesome equipment, but still check the AH every day to drool over it
-It feels wrong not ending a conversation with a /salute
-You want to level another job, but if you ever get merits on it, it will go towards your PLD first =p

You know you've been a PLD too long when...

... your shield caps before your sword (happened today).

-You get mad at mages for spamming spells at the start of the battle.

-People start calling you "old man," and referring to you as an "elder" when you're 18 years old.

Umm... I'm proud to admit I do all of that stuff. I used Holy Circle till about level 25. It looks so cool!

Oh yeah.

While helping newbs you equip your Earth or Terra Staff because you think it makes you look Uber. And thats because it does!

~When you were upset by the despawn update because it meant there was no longer a reason to grab links and head to middle-zone to die while your party gets to safety ; ;

~When you go to Promyvion regularly and almost grin whenever someone gets aggro on the top floor, because you can do the above again :D

you know you've been a pld too long when you quit you feel like you've lost a friend.

OMG, that is so(!!!) like me. I laughed like crazy at my job when i read those, cuz that applied to me perfectly when i was lvling pld

You know you've been a pld too long when...

-You put a party together in Kahzam at lvl 27 and purposefully add two dark knights, two black mages and a bard, all lvl 29, just so you can prove to them that they can't even get the mobs to squint at them!
(True story, and made a TON of EXP thanks to the bard's ballads)

-You see the NPC gobs in Lower Jeuno and immediately reach for your provoke macro. (And then get mad when it doesn't work!)
This also works during Halloween in any town =)

-Your friend list consists of nothing but other paladins (except for that sexy dark knight mithra fiance of yours)

-You watch "Return of the Jedi" and KNOW you could off both Darth Vader and the Emperor without Luke's help ;)

-You convert each and every member of your LS to paladins at one point or another once they see how cool the job is...

-You gimp Ranger as your subjob, walk through the Dunes, wide scan for ghouls, provoke them, and lead them to the beaches just so everyone else can watch you dust the bastards!

-You want to only pick up the RSE Elder's Bracers and the Holy Phail for your Galka to improve your MP and equip as much VIT gear as possible and munch on seafood while leveling!

-Wish you could shield bash each and every nin/warr you see, just for the fun of it! (see if they can hold THAT hate!)

-You bougth all of your lvl 29 armor ten levels before you got there just to know it's waiting for you (Only two more to go!)

-You're depressed knowing that you're going to have to eventually finish leveling up your warrior to 37 so you have a clear shot to 75 with your paladin (Warr is currently 32)

-You're trailing 3 gobs you're zoning to save your party in Kahzam, see a lvl 75 Paladin pl, and stop to salute him even though it'll probably mean your death. (btw, made it out with 2HP left, and finished salute hehehe)

-Try to provoke your mother off of the rest of your family during those LONG Xmas dinners, using a knife and plate!!

I'm back. With another reason when you know you've been a pld to long. But this is more of a story. I was playing with DRK in Valkrum lvl 13/6 (war sub). The damage i was dealing was almost the same as my pld did in Yhoator, which is really sad. Well apparently our main tank was a mithra war/thf 13/6 using a GS. Not to mention she had sub-par armor at the time. I was worried she wasn't going to do well. So I pop the old pld macro's ctrl + 4 provoke lol. I tank for a little bit. I was parrying more than she could, and taking the same amount of damage she was. Now war's have higher def the drk's most of the time. But you know I've been pld too long if I decide to just throw caution to the wind and tank as a drk. I have truely succumb to the l33tness that is pld.

you know you've been a pld to long when:

-you try to tank on your monk
-you have an art show project due and you make a life size pld
-you slowly realize that lvling monk may only have been your option so you could pay to lvl pld (daaaaaamn you af armor daaaaamn you!!!)
-you debate making a set of gallant armor to wear on halloween irl

When you're leveling your DRG in the Dunes so you dont have to tank...but end up doing it anyways because isnt because the newbie WAR in your party doesnt get that hes supposed to voke every 30 seconds. >.< Just did it yesterday for 3 levels

(I got bored and decided to browse the other job forums, and am I glad I was bored :P.)

Every good battle, whether I die or just get close, people are so shocked when I'm laughing and saying "Oh yes! Love that adrenaline rush!!"

Heh, I may still be fairly new to this job, but I'm already guilty of virtually everything mentioned before this, as well as all of these:

- after lv 41, you randomly hug RDMs.
- you pull hate while leveling another job; everyone else freaks out, while you laugh...
- you wish for Flash while tanking as any other job.
- while leveling another job you make the NIN tank's life more difficult just to get a sense of revenge.
- you level WHM and astound your party with a 100+ damage Banish.
- you know the cheapest place/person to buy any DEF+ food from.
- you sub WHM as any other melee while soloing, not so you can heal yourself, but to increase your hate...
- you can tank even with a PL curebombing you.
- you see someone get a link, you draw hate to save them... and you're leveling BLM.
- your life revolves around finding a bigger shield.
- you get killed leveling any other job demonstrating proper tanking technique.

Just a quick lil story; I was duotanking with a NIN the other day and we got into a discussion about hate. He claimed I couldn't hold hate without using Provoke. I let him open with voke, let him finish the Elemental Wheel plus Ninja Debuffs, waited... then, one Flash + Shield Bash + Sentinel later, the mob only has eyes for me. =D
