I don't know how many it takes exactly to cap your hate, but a good way to determine your hate without just going and getting yourself blasted by a Tonberry is to go to the Tonberry NPC that would reset your hate and just see how much he's charging you to get your hate reset (but make sure not to actually reset it). If it costs you 6,000 gil to reset, then you have a sufficient amount.

You can get hate from any Tonberry, but it has to be a Tonberry. The offshoot species, the Cryptonberries, will not give you hate.

It's not a full time piece, but it is fairly solid for both TP purposes and for critical hit weaponskills. Jobs that have access to Ganesha's Mala will use that for TP over Rancor Collar, and for WS people often use something like the elemental gorget and Rancorous Mantle (which works under the same effect as Rancor Collar and will not stack with it crit hit wise). It gives the fTP bonus and Accuracy from the Gorget as well as +17 Attack and +5 Crit Hit Rate, as opposed to less accuracy, a bit more Attack, and some Double Attack.

For TP I use it on War, Mnk, Thf, Bst, Nin, and Blu (Ganesha's Mala for Drk, Sam, and Drg, Empyrean necks for Dnc and Pup).

Thanks guys. I am just returning after a loooooong hiatus so I have quite a ways to go gear-wise. I just got my Atheling Mantle last night, so that will be full time now. I've been tp'ing in a paewr belt and rancor collar. I am still using Raging Rush (Before you laugh, I've only been back a week and it was 2009 last time I played) so I've been ws'ing in snow gorget and warwolf. Like I said, I've got a loooong way to go with gear. Next focus is on Ravager's stuff from Abby.

On a side note. Is Upheaval extremely superior to RR? The reason I ask is because I know upheaval is VIT based. I'm hoping to get myself a Ukon at some point which is STR based for Ukko's. I currently have mostly STR gear and not much VIT gear. Opinions? Can I make RR work till then or will I be lolWAR for that?

P.S. Vlor, I bookmarked your reply to Nila when he came back in the spring/summer and have been using that to steer my gearing. So I have tried to read up a bit. It's just that SOOOOOOO much has changed since then.

Absolutely.

In fact, there are specific concerns to be aware of in non-capped accuracy situations (Legion, some Tier 6 Jeuno Voidwatch, Morta, etc.). For myself, I don't belong to a linkshell/group of friends large enough to do Legion and I do other non-capped acc. events so infrequently that I haven't bothered with such as set.

Vlor: do you mind posting your non-capped acc. set and what content you use it for?

I was just tooling around looking at any post that had info on how to gear WAR for endgame. As my gear set progresses I've often returned to this post to look at what Vlor has listed. Vlor, I noticed you favor Claymore Grip over Pole Grip. I thought I remembered people mathing out that +2% DA would trump the +3% Crit Rate (although this was like 2008 and I have no time to dig for it). Or I could be wrong completely. Is the math different now because of available gear and hard/soft caps? I'd try to math it out myself, but honestly, I struggle to find enough time in my schedule to play as much as I'd like let alone re-up my WAR mathing skills (which have sadly become waaaaaay under-leveled). Thanks for your consideration on what might be an obvious question to those who haven't taken such a long break as I did.

Ok, that makes sense. I'm currently building a Ukon (halfway through glav shells) and helping returning ls members get "caught up" by spamming a lot of Abyssea content. But my goal is to start doing Voidwatch in the near future. Methinks I'll buy myself a Claymore Grip with the expectation that it will be an upgrade when I start doing VW.
