Fair point. Seems like none of the new blood here have the same panache the old guard had.

I miss the old guard. We used to have a real soul here in the war forums...lately it's been quiet as a mouse. Sucks. Where'd the talk of the booze and killing and randoms of the day go?

I'm always sad when I come to the meadhall and see.... nothing of interest. I blame vlor (
mostly because I can)

My favorite part of Warrior was the simplicity of the concept. Do damage. That's all there was to it. You do damage to kill things as fast as possible, and you do damage to make sure something pays attention to you to keep it from hitting someone else. Tanking and dealing damage intertwined. If I were still playing, and we didn't get Retaliation and weren't up for this proposed ability I'd still be happy to be main Warrior. Of course, and don't get me wrong, Retaliation is awesome (on paper for me, of course), and the few times you need Piercing or Blunt this new ability will be great as well, but it doesn't change the job. Just makes it sweeter.
Simple job to get into, not super difficult to figure out, and enough finesse to master. The job was right straight out of the box. The additions are just icing.
And this is why my first two jobs were mnk and war. Smashing sh*t is fun.

Retaliation fits perfectly with WAR philosophy. It's not even close to a defensive move. It just makes you getting thwacked very enjoyable and can be abused to kick the snot out of mobs with multiple, weak attacks that piss off shadow users.
I leveled WAR over other DDs like DRG, MNK, DRK because all the mainjob WARs on the game and on this forum seemed so chill with everything while other DDs always had to prove everything to anyone within earshot. The job makes me wish I had spent less time mucking around with mages and cut straight to the WAR chase a few years earlier so I could have been one of those guys instead of just someone who has WAR as yet another 90.
I take pride in the fact that I leveled my warrior using a gaxe from 37+ (I got it to 37 as a sub and hated every minute of that, because I was trying to war/nin back in '05, before knowledge of the epicness of shieldbreak was widespread), long before the 2h update. I also take pride in the fact that for some bizarre reason, in 90% of my exp parties on warrior up til level 70 or so, I was the puller...

I leveled WAR because I had SO MUCH FUN smashing things in the head with a great axe while I was leveling it as a sub for PUP. SCH is a versatile mage, PUP is a somewhat complex job that has many uses, from DD to soloing to even nuking. WAR just smashes things, fast. And it's really satisfactory to do so.
You and I are very much alike, sir, and I respect you for that.

My first job wasn't a thief..oh that was such a relief. Nor was it a monk..or even a mage who uses his club to bonk.
Heavens no ..a ranger? I don't like being far away from danger. A ninja... a paladin..or even a wee dark knight. Those certainly don't signify might.
What was it you ask? It twas a warrior.. it is nothing but the best. All the mobs in the zone.. they know they're going to rest. A Great Axe.. does not simply enhance you..oh no..not nothing more in the least. It does that and more..to turn one into a beast!
To the mobs who dare to ruin our day...to you this I shall say..hey hey ho ho ...a here we go.. we shall come to you to SLAY!

Warriors= awesome nuff said lol
Anywho to be on topic... I rather like that they're staying with the simple concept of " Warrior do damage..Warrior do lots of damage".
...I like this kid. My opinion of the Newblood has been improved.

Loved this post, but this sentence made me LOL ... Don't you go "Berserk?"

Sorry, couldn't resist ... btw, I love reading the WAR forums even though mine is on hold until I can get all of my relevant sub jobs up!
Haha, good point. Although I'll take the low road and say our berserk state is due to too much mead.
There's nothing emotionally pent up behind going berserk. Warriors go berserk because smashing faces is fun, and going berserk means smashing more faces and smashing them harder. There's no logical reason for a warrior not to go berserk.

So if its the mead hall ..why hasn't anyone invented a Mead Axe or a Mead Helmet as of yet? Mead Haubergeon/Harness?
Mead Polearm! Mead Sword! Mead can be used for many things =P
But which would a frequenter of the sacred mead hall do. Invent Mead related things... or drink mead+ induce mayhem and slaughter throughout the land?
What a waste of good Mead.... There are only two things mead should be used for. Drinking, and Drinking to make one into a Mead Shield.

Damn, I seriously miss this game sometimes. Out of all the games I've been playing, noting can quite recreate the feeling of going on a rampage as a FFXI Monk or Warrior.
And I know you guys have missed me! Or at least the ones who've been around long enough to know who the @#%^ I am.
