One thing ive tend to notice about most players. Advice = Insult.

I had this same discussion with a linkshell bard today who was telling me how he was in a party with a bard as his blm, at level 55. He said he had great equipment, but he had no idea how to use it properly. The bard was doing ballad with a +1 string instrument and hit everyone, and tried to give buffs to the melee with a regular wind instrument... not knowing it wouldn't overwrite the ballad cause its +1 instrument and the other is not (i had no idea it worked this way myself, i never played bard, hell for all i know my friend could be wrong. I know melee and skillschains, support (no thanks))

So my friend tells him he should try to get ballad on the mages only. The guy freaks out and starts getting bad but eventually takes the advice. My friend then tells him how +1 weapons won't be overrided by normal... he FLIPS, leaves the party.

Its getting to the point where its just too much of a hassle to even try and help people anymore. They take it as an insult instead of just advice from somone who wants them to do better then they are.

I'm an Elvaan Warrior on siren and i'm wielding a bee spatha +1 for the accrucy. But i'm not getting any pts because of the sword and i'm now out of cash. Do i quailify for an great axe?

Just want to post that I gave away and successfully convderted someone to a g axe tonight. I saw a lvl 5 newbie walking around with a polearm, and I politely explained to him the benefits of using an axe on a warrior, and gave him a butterfly axe, then using madrigal I helped him speed level his g axe to cap so he could compare it to his polearm :p

After he got it capped, he was pretty impressed with the g axe over his polearm, so I made at least one person change for the better :p

Where Great axe does the most damage depends on what you're fighting. if you're fighting High defense enemys, like crabs in valkurm, the axe will crush the sword. On low defense enemys, low delay weapons will do better. Why not use an axe instead of a sword though? Higher damage, almost the exact same delay, higher skill, and better weapon skills. You can switch between axe and g axe to keep both capped and also use whichever has better results.

An example is when I started xping in Kuftal Tunnel at lvl 51 with my war friend. He has nin and thief subs both fully leveled, and axe and g axe both capped. When we first went in, the crabs were giving more than 200 each, even before the xp chain and had very high defense, so he used a thief sub and relied on his g axe, and was doing 70-90 damage regular hits and 400+ damage sturmwinds, as compared to 20-30 damage axe hits. At 53 though (the next night) their defense was lower now due to us being a higher level, so he went back as a war/nin, and was hitting 40-50 damage axe swings while still only doing 70-90 damage gaxe hits.

You just have to pick the situation accordingly. This is why warrior is so versatile. We're good with both a high damage high delay item, and a low delay, lower damage item, while other dd (samurai, dark knight or dragoon) have to rely on the slow weapons since thats all they're good at.

Hey yo im a mentor for the shiva server and ive been out of it for a while but im back now. Just wanted to let ya know!

If anyone can do it, please send a GAX to "illeuce" on midgardsormr. Im new to this server and I dont have the gil to even get my own EQ, so I cant hand them out.

but hey i am still gonna stick to as many weapons as I can. Axes, G Axes, Swords, G Swords, and polearms. ^^

But man I did Strumwind for 123 which is like timesd my normal damage which is normally like 35-50. And better yet I made a scisson skillchain of 73 damage. ^^

I didn't mean to offend you at all, I really didn't, and am happy to participate in this GreatAxe Challenge. But this offer does cap out when you reach level 20, otherwise things start getting incredibly expensive for us.

As far as my comment about getting a bit personal in your questions and you saying this is just a game? Yeah...it is just a game, but at the same time, I do like to keep my anonymity a bit and certain things such as how much gil I have really doesn't matter. I don't have a problem telling that to my friends, but when you start asking if I'm a girl and how old I am and how much gil I have right away, I take that as a bit intrusive. Sorry if that offended you, but just as it's a bit rude to ask a stranger how much they make in real life, asking in game is something similar.

Anyway, I'm sorry you were above the level for this event, or I would happily support you and get you a GreatAxe. Anyone other new Warriors who are truly interested in trying a GreatAxe to be the best Warrior they want to be, please feel free to send me a /tell. I'm more than happy to help out :)

well i for 1 think this is a great and very kind thing 2 do : )
i now when i first started i used a regular axe, the at lvl 5 i switched over 2 the butterflyaxe and it was like starting over again killing rabits and worms. great job helping noobs

I'm working on soloing my war at level 13. Farming/Practicing my tactics as a non-magic user for when I PT with my static. In soloing would Great axe be better than axe/shield?

I hate to say this but I'm out as far as providing weapons goes.

I must of handed out more than 20 and all was well.

Then someone who I sent an axe too sends me this mssg:

I don't have time to meet everyone in person.

And frankly I don't care who plays a WAR and what they use anymore.

In fact go be a PLD.

I like being different and the less of you that play WAR the better.

never the less, I have no intention of handing out a free axe anytime soon. Maybe if I see a low level WAR who has some odd equipment and after speaking with said player I find that they have true intent to play WAR all the way... I'd prolly equip them head to toe.

But I'm done with the whole "can I have an axe?" : "sure" deal.

Part of what makes WAR so great to me is that there are so few of us.

If there was a whole ton of us... I'd be a monk.

I have great respect for those who are still willing to give out an axe to any one who asks, and I warn those who aim to take advantage of thier charity that I will make the game unplayable for you... right up until they ban me.

It's sad here on Ramuh. I've been a mentor for the GA challenge since near the beginning, but up until now only one person has made a request for an axe.

While playing zone cop in the Dunes, I can count the number of people in one hand I see using GA.

Still here, giving thread a much needed bump.
Currently levelling WHM so as to give my gf a hand with her WAR, (yes, my gf plays, and she plays a WAR also.. be jealous), but am always happy and willing to toss a helping axe towards a fellow WAR.

Caitsith's overrun with rampant Ninja and Ranger fetishists right now.. we could use some more people of intergrity...

On titan, I haven't had to give away any axes for awhile. Everytime I've seen a war below 20 they've had a g axe already. Of course, I don't go hang out in the dunes very much, so for all I know g axes are still a rare commodity there :p
