The GreatAxe Challenge LIVESFollow

Well, I guess ill step up and take over. I don't read the forums every minute, only once a day, but ill try to keep it as updated as I can.

For those who are new. The Great Axe challenge was a project by Demos to give away free Great Axes up to level 20 to new players. Warrior's A+ weapon is our Great Axe, and he was trying to encourage it.

TO GET YOUR AXE: Contact your mentor for your server either in game with the name listed below(although i think some of these may not be game alias's), or on the forums here. You must be less then rank 5, and not be on /anon.

We do not hand out neckchoppers, they cost too much.

Please give your mentor time to send it, we all cannot be on 24/7.

Lets try to keep this arguement free.

Remember, we do this to help, no one is forcing anyone to be on this list, or hand out gil they earn. Please do not abuse the system. This is intended to help people go the right direction with their warrior, not a quick way to make 4k.

If theres 2 names between a comma, () = In game Name, No parenthesis is forum name. Without both, forum is assumed to be in game name as well.

I'd be interested in being a recipient of this.

I'm on Fairy...reborn taru after a 5 month escape from the game. I'm going to take Arri through a lot of different jobs, one of which will be Warrior as I enjoy tanking a good bit. I know it'll be an uphill battle, but think it'd be fun.

But anyway, I was debating between using a GreatAxe and Axe/Shield combo when I start this, but if this is available, I'd probably try to keep both on me depending on my role in the party.

Thanks a lot...and I'll try to send a /tell in game whenever I'm looking to start leveleing my WAR. BTW...i'll be more than happy to either return the GreatAxe as I level or pass it along to the next Warrior-to-be :)

Hi, im Viox, im a lvl 8 war. on Ifrit... and i would love to just have a higer lvl war to talk to... i mean sure a GAXE would be more than wonderful.... but i understand if you cant afford to give them away to all new players.. i mean hay, i cant even afford one hardly lol ^_^... but yea any war's on ifrit... i would love a mentor that could point me in the right direction

eh, I dunno.... its so crazy.....

I see lvl 30 WAR/ 11(or 10) NIN, so they basically decide to use their sub as an excuse to skip over Utseumi and just Dual Weild swords. I see G sword, Polearms, swords, anything you can imagine on a WAR... (but a staff and a club so far)

I posted this on the other Gaxe thread, but apparently that one's dead. I'm a monk who has loved xping with Wars cause we complement each other well. As such, I'm all for supporting my borthers in arms.

Pharazon, I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like Aramina was offering to mentor, not request an axe.

Okay, I've been on this list for a long time now, and I have yet to receive a single GAxe request through it. Are people actually getting requests on on other servers? I see the occasional scattered post here asking, but by and large, it seems we have more mentors than we have requests. ... or is it just that Kujata is slow and all other mentors get regular request messages?

I've handed out a fair number of Great Axes to promising but uneducated warriors in-game, but other than that I'm not seeing any effect from this program. Now don't get me wrong, I think the challenge is great. Anything that helps WAR regain its lost respect is a worthy cause in my eyes. I'm just beginning to wonder if we're actually getting through, as the vast majority of new players have never even heard of Allakhazam, let alone the Great Axe Challenge...

Felt this needed a bump. I was once a sword swinging fool and am very glad for the folks that knocked some sense into me.

Updated, and to say how many people ive given out axes on Odin, 2. I'd keep this thread going if it was only 1 ever. As long as thats one less person using the wrong thing.

I swear, every time I ask a question, this thread drifts off the bottom of the page. Whatever. I'm not playing much anymore and will probably be leaving FFXI altogether soon. But I've come to love the warrior job and the people here who play it, so I'd like to have this program continued on Kujata.

If anybody can carry the banner of the GreatAxe Challenge on Kujata, I've got enough gil stockpiled (thanks to Pikko) to finance the challenge for a long time, and THEN some. I obviously can't monitor what's done with it if I'm not around, so this will have to be honor-bound only. If anybody is willing to pick up the job of being Kujata's mentor, just let me know.

The reason i didn't respond to your ideas is, if the demand from this post was much higher, then it is (as sad as it is), i would not be able to handle it. I'm not at a level where i can just roam around with 10 great axes all the time and everytime i see a newb hand them one. If I could, I would.
