New to BLM - need to know role in Abyssea

Hello,

I have recently hit 99 BLM. I started working towards capping skills and getting +1 Goetia set. I normally run with a static group in Abyssea and I absolutely love BLM. I get to proc and nuke after proc in that group. Last night I was in a pickup for hands +1 and the nin in the group told me, "after proccing please just heal". Is that what BLM is? I will be pretty depressed if I went through all the work of capping ele skill, full BLM merits, and getting gear only to find out we are back up heals.

I am starting BLM soon for myself. In the seal runs I have been on not once have I seen someone ask for the BLM to heal. Was there no WHM or SCH in the run?

I've not seen that either. In Abyssea, when it comes to yellow procs, Black Mage is actually often asked to sub Bard so they can Elemental Seal the needed Threnody, so it's kind of strange that they'd want you to just help heal after you've proc'd. Were they trying to get other kinds of procs on the mob after you proc'd yellow? If so, they may have wanted you to not do too much damage till they got all the staggers they were after.
