I looked through sticky's didn't see anything. Was wondering if any of you blm like to campaign, and what if any suggestions you have to maximize exp/an. I kinda want to kill 2 birds wiht one stone sometimes, and get AN and exp blm at the same time, but my exp and AN amounts from campaign are laughable. If anyone does campaign as blm, what kind of #'s do you see from it?

Best bet is to go in, whack sh*t with your staff, while nuking and healing.

What I would do is during attacking zones, I'd go in, and agaIII > SleepgaII > AgaIII > Sleepga then book it back to the guy, trade in my tag, and then rest up and repeat.

I have two methods. BLM is only 75, so I don't know how EXP compares to other jobs.

Method 1:1200 EXP per 15-20 mins.

Choose an area where there will be lots of people.
Sub WHM for reraise/cures/poisona.
Get tags, put up reraise SS and blink.
Find the mobs that people have pulled to the side.
Tier 4 Nuke.
Drain/Aspir whenever possible.
Rest when mp out.
Repeat.

Method 2:

Go to Garlaige.
Sub RDM for Gravity.
Put up SS and Blink.
Pull a single (aspirable) mob.
Nuke > Sleep> Aspir > Recast Blink (and SS if necessary)> Rest > Nuke before mob wakes
Repeat.

With method 2 the mobs become resistant to Sleep, to the point where ES SleepgaII wont stick. At this point switch to Bind. When mob gets resistant to bind use Gravity.

Taking down one mob nets around 1300 EXP.

From my personal point of view, EXP/AN in Campaign as BLM immensely depends on circumstances.

From level 60+ (when I started to try and level BLM a bit in Campaign), EXP per round was very disappointing on BLM playing as a BLM. Usually netting around 200-450 EXP for a good fight, using my highest Tier of nukes. However, I found that elemental spells got partially resisted quite often and that most of my enfeebles wouldn't stick either. So I finally gave up playing as a BLM and started playing as a WHM (still being BLM/WHM though). Most of my MP was spend curing people, raising them and casting protect, shell, stoneskin, blink and useless stuff like barfira on myself. This jacketed up EXP per fight to around 600 on a good run.

From level 70+ however (and especially at 73 when you get the igqira gear and most of the Tier IV spells), playing as a BLM became possible again. Almost all elemental spells hit for 100% and rarely an enfeeble would be resisted (usually a Shock could cure that). I would still occasionally cure people and raise them, but now most of my MP is spend nuking and enfeebling the mobs. For a good run I have no problem getting 1K+ EXP per run and on long runs I can get up to 2.5K with a single refresh of tags halfway through.

Past week has been very nice because Windurst only controls Fort Karuga(something) and my allegiance is with Windurst. This means the fort is almost under constant attack by waves and waves of Yagudo, most fights take about 15-20 minutes (so easy to cap EXP each run) and I can buy temporary items from the NPC there. If a fight starts (but the mobs aren't there yet), I'd get my tag and a mana and body boost drink. Then cast protect, shell, RR, SS and Blink on me. Use the Mana and Body boosts and cure myself to 100%. Then rest to full MP waiting for the mobs to arrive. When they arrive I try to join some DD who pick off one of the incoming Yags and start enfeebling them (paralyze, slow, blind, poison, BioII and silence if needed). Aspir and Drain whenever they are available. Tier IV or III nukes as long as it doesn't get me solid hate. I try to remove enfeebles cast upon the DD (like slow, paralyze and poison) asap. I occasionally CureIII the DD (whenever I can use Divine Seal on a DD at <60% HP).)

Most of all I try to avoid being killed (huge loss of time and MP), but if it seems unavoidable I'll try to get off a Blizzaga III or Thundaga III into the crowd.

With a lack of DD, I'll usually try to solo one of the elemental avatars the Yagudo NM brings along. To my amazement, these don't melee but just cast enfeebles and Banish(ga) III, which is easily absorbed by SS. Yesterday I even managed to rest up MP to 350+ right in front of a claimed avatar before being forced up again from taking damage. These avatars can be aspired and are very susceptible to elemental nuking (around 750 damage for Tier IV nukes).

I'm now working on skilling up staff, so I can melee as well (and hope to hit something), since my staff skills are gimped to embarrassment right now and I can't hit the broad side of a barn even if I wanted to.

I tried to solo a Yag ninja a few times, but usually this ends bad because a) my enfeebles are eaten by the Yag's shadows once silence wears off, b) the Yag builds resistance to sleep rather fast and c) I run out of MP and get pummeled to death soon after. Smiley: laugh

Still, I'm quite happy about EXP as BLM now. A good fight gives me about 1.5-2K, more if I succeed in refreshing my tag.

Nuke.
Melee.
Use Spirit Taker. If you're in one of the lower level zones, run off and Spirit Taker a non-campaign mob. You can get tons of MP for Spirit Taking a worm in Gusta for example.
Use Aspir whenever you can: you can Aspir 90% of campaign mobs, even if their job technically shouldn't have MP.
Use /SCH: Dark Arts, Parsimony, Sublimation all stretch your MP.

Make sure you have "Wings of Honor", if you don't, get on it.

Get a Blackjack, or by the graces of all possible a White Joker, /RDM. Melee, magic at the same time. Mind you, if you try and solo, you will die.

Interchange some of theese acc items with ones you nomally use for blm.
Pole Grip
Brutal Earring <if available>
Uthalam's ring
..etc etc.
Gear accordingly.

Try /bst :) It works wonders. Your pet keeps doing melee damage while you rest for MP. Crawler's Nest[S] works great for this, the downstairs floor has DC Scorpions you can use for pets. Same level scorps are found in Meriphataud[S] also.

Recently I wanted to max out my BLM exp safely, didn't feel like soloing Puddings yet again, so I tried /bst. Got the highest exp I've seen on BLM in a long time, 3700 or so, for roughly 40min fight.

The scorpions ended up tanking most of the time, even with PLDs attacking the mobs. They're that strong.

I can easily get capped EXP on any of my 75 jobs, BLM included. Only thing is that it requires mobs to actually be present at the forts, because targeting the fortifications doesn't do jack anymore.

And yeah, mixing up some melee and magic damage when you have generated the MP to spare a nuke seems to work best.

My method:

Stoneskin/blink/aquaveil

Find the largest group of mobs you can away from any NM boss.
ES/Sleepga
Thundaga III
Sleepga II
Stoneskin/blink/aquaveil
Blizzaga III
Sleepaga (if you can)
Reraise (scrolls save time resting mp)
Thundaga III
Reraise

Find a single a group is working on.
Drain/aspir/bio/blind/paralyze/slow/frost/drown/rasp/poison II

Once unweakened, rinse and repeat... nets me anywhere from 900 to 3000 xp depending on the length of battle and size of mob group.

I get quite a decent amount of exp in campaign using BLM.. rather close to my melee sometimes.

The method I use is as follows:

- BLM/SCH (Reraise, Sublimation, lower casting cost and higher casting speed)
- Melee
- Nuke only Blizzard 4, Store TP on ice staff for Spirit Taker
- After Spirit Taker, switch to Dark Staff for Aspir + Drain
- Nuke only Blizzard 4, Store TP on ice staff for Spirit Taker
- After Spirit Taker, switch to Dark Staff for Aspir + Drain
- Etc Etc.

- When finally Spirit Taker and Aspir cannot keep up the MP loss, Sublimation.

I usually go blm/rdm or blm/dnc and use dagger (I have 8/8 dagger merits and a Blau Dolch tho.)

If Blm/rdm: enspells, cures, enffeebs, nukes etc and use the MP Drain WS.

- Typically gains tp faster than Staff and offers nice DPS so energy drain spam + aspir spam is usually enough to keep my MP up.

BLM/DNC is a nice lil toy for campaign with this setup too. Aspir Samba + Energy Drain + aspir usually lets me go all out (IF an NPC or other ppl are tanking the mobs). You get it all with this one. Melee damage, Magic Damage, Enfeebles, Cures and very little, if any, down time.
