Dropping the conclusions to testing in the first post for convenience.
I'm satisfied with the amount of testing I have done, and I've been able to predict the results I've gotten with pretty good accuracy.
Findings:
* Equalizer damage reduction is applied after all other sources of damage reduction are calculated.
* Equalizer damage reduction is a function of the damage to be taken by the hit (after all other damage reduction is applied), auto max HP, and number of Earth Maneuvers.
* Equalizer is least effective on automatons with high HP and other sources of damage reduction.
* Equalizer if most effective on automatons with low HP and no other sources of damage reduction.
New equations for Equalizer:
* 0 Earth Maneuver: (DamageTaken/AutoMaxHP)*.09
* 1-3 Earth Maneuver: (DamageTaken/AutoMaxHP)*.24*#EarthManeuvers
Damage Taken after all other reduction applied. Value assumed for three maneuvers; needs confirmation.
Conclusions:
Equalizer is worthless.
* On a Valoredge with max HP, both armor plates, and Anwig; damage reduction will be ~30HP when taking 1000 damage with two earth maneuvers up.
* On a magebot with minimum HP and no other source of damage reduction; damage reduction will be ~368HP when taking 1000 damage.
At face value, this may seem decent, but when does a PUP keep two earth maneuvers stacked on a magebot?
Other Observations:
* PUP native damage reduction at 99 is 9%
* Valoredge and Sharpshot have native 12.5% damage reduction
* Stormwalker has no native damage reduction.
* Harlequin was not checked for native damage reduction Existing values for Armor Plates appear slightly off, but are more than reasonably accurate.

Test Target: Sabotender in Kuftal for 1000 needles.
Total Damage Taken by Auto: 500 (master in range)
Auto:
SoulWalker, RepairKit 1&2 Only
Damage taken: 455; Stout Servant is giving 9% -PDT
Valor Edge, RepairKit 1&2 Only
Damage Taken: 392; VE native -PDT = 12.5%
Valor Edge, RepairKit 1&2 + -10% PDT Anwig
Damage Taken: 343 Total -PDT = 31.4%;
I calculated 31.5% (342.5 DMG taken) Numbers work.
Valor Edge, RepairKit 1&2 + Anwig + Armor Plate 1&2 + 0 Earth Maneuver
Damage Taken: 271 Total -PDT = 45.8%;
I calculated 46.5% (268 DMG taken) based on numbers from:
Quote:
New Armor Plate Values
Quote:
# Armor plate 1
0 earth mav -5% pdt
1 earth mav -7.5% pdt
2 earth mav -10% pdt
3 earth mav -15%pdt
# Armor plate 2:
0 earth mav -10.2% pdt
1 earth mav -15% pdt
2 earth mav -20% pdt
3 earth mav -25%pdt
0 earth mav -5% pdt
1 earth mav -7.5% pdt
2 earth mav -10% pdt
3 earth mav -15%pdt
# Armor plate 2:
0 earth mav -10.2% pdt
1 earth mav -15% pdt
2 earth mav -20% pdt
3 earth mav -25%pdt
Valor Edge, RepairKit 1&2 + Anwig + Armor Plate 1&2 + 1 Earth Maneuver
Damage Taken: 236 Total -PDT = 52.8%;
I calculated 54.0% (230 DMG taken)
Valor Edge, RepairKit 1&2 + Anwig + Armor Plate 1&2 + Equalizer + 1 Earth Maneuver
Damage Taken: 231 Total -PDT = 53.8%;
I calculated 59.49% (202.54 DMG taken) based on adding Equalizer calculation from ffxi wiki.
Quote:
=IF(#EarthManeuv=0;(DMGtaken/MaxHP)*(0.1);(DMGtaken/MaxHP)*(#EarthManeuv*0.25))
MaxHP = 2276
Observations: Calculated values drift from actual as we add more -PDT (rounding?) Summing all other -PDT before running the Equalizer calculation doesn't work either.
Conclusion: Addition of the equalizer gave an actual -PDT of 1% in my small test.
Has anyone else done any testing on Equalizer recently?
