Yay S-E for all the new NM drops from November update that are awesome for PUP (Lava/Kusha, Surge Subligar, Virtuoso Belt, Headlong Belt, Spurrer's Beret, Setanta's Ledelsens, Birdbanes, Poppet Katars, etc). Boo to the painful drop rates. November proved to be a truly great update for PUP though by virtue of the gear.

Finally got 5/5 pup relic. Took about a year to get the hat, but last night after a good xarc run, managed to grab the hat as one of the three (total) drops that night. Other two being NIN and iirc SMN, wasn't really paying attention.

a) Congratulations! Nice achievement.
b) For other PUPs... It's probably smart to get two H2H merits first before you do anything else, as it raises your base DMG and it's relatively cheap merit-wise (only costs 3 merits for your first 2 weapon skill merits).
The formula for H2H base damage is: (H2H skill x 0.11) + 3. All remainders are dropped. Meaning that for a PUP with capped skill and no faith torque or H2H skill+ Oberon's Sainti:
Merits Skill DMG 0 225 27.75 1 227 27.97 2 229 28.19 3 231 28.41 4 233 28.63 5 235 28.85 6 237 29.07 7 239 29.29 8 241 29.51
As you can see, PUP gets a DMG boost at 2 and 6 merits. If you have Faith Torque or H2H+ Oberon's, you can do the math and check for yourself with your particular H2H skill what the tiers are.

1/2 Belladonna Lost 2 claims inbetween.
1/2 Boompadu died 2x yeah I suck lol kept getting too impatient.
0/4 Hyacinth(sp) lost about 3 claims
0/2 Lamina lost about 4 claims
Competition on the rings has been less than 1-2 people on my server so thats pretty good. Hoping to get one ring out of the way so I dont have to bounce back n forth.

Woo! Congratulations. Got my Odin key item ready to go so I can ditch my nasty old Bellicose Mantle soon too.
Perhaps you could encourage your LS to go for a Dyna-Qufim? Pantin Cape drops from stuff people tend to kill more often there (Stirge, Tiger, Weapon). I'm lucky in that my LS leader likes the Cocks in Buburiumu (hehe), but I know everyone doesn't get that luck. And it's even less likely that you're killing Uragnites! So yeah, for most PUP Qufim gives you a better chance than Bubu that you'll fight stuff that drops the cape.
Of course, I still have never even seen Pantin Cape drop... but one day it will.
