Subjob QuestionsFollow

Depending on what you're doing, there are plenty of better subs now, and personally speaking, I very rarely use /Ninja nowadays at level 99. If I'm doing a lot of nuking (like in Abyssea or Voidwatch), I'll go /Rdm for the Fast Cast and the Magic Attack Bonus, so I don't have to worry about wasting set points to set those effects. If I'm doing a lot of meleeing, I'll set the Dual Wield trait through spells and often times go /Warrior, using Occultation in place of Utsusemi.

It's a good idea to have a number of subjobs leveled and available for Blu because of the varying roles they can cover. We don't have a single, particular niche we cover, but a variety of possible roles we can cover, so having the subjobs to take advantage of that is the best route to go.

The advice above is good. /rdm is great for nuking /dnc for dynamics. I perfer sch for solo or abby though.

It is nice to cure your status is paralised or poisened. It is nice for Reraise. On the dark side its nice for dain, aspir and sleep. In general sch saves me setting spells for points. Having two aspir spells and a sleep, dispil and status cure onhand all the time makes the job very worthwhile.

Having weather like firestorm and windstorm are nice for some of our nukes.

But as others said its all your playstyle

Early on, Ninja is still going to be a decent subjob because you get that Dual Wield early on, and the others only really come in to play when you can set the same level of Dual Wield on your own that you'd get from Ninja normally (up to Dual Wield II). Given how it is nowadays, as far as how people level, I'd recommend maybe focusing on the really important spells at first, then in your off-time, working to learn the other, "lesser" spells that you might have passed up. If you can keep fairly up to date on your damage dealing ones, your heals, and your worthwhile buffs (like Refueling, etc), you can just go back and learn the others later.

Blue was my first Job to 99 after having a 75 Pld years ago.

For the previously mentioned reasons, i use the following subjobs: War, Whm, Rdm, Nin, Sam, and Bst.Also Dnc.
Keep in mind to charm effectively as sub bst, your bst main must be the same level as your blu main. That makes learning spells easier.

If this seems overwhelming, be aware leveling is about 100x faster with field manuals.

And yes, blu is a fine job for your first to 99. I personally got the main spells while leveling, then would go 20 levels without learning spells and spell hunt en mass.
