Spellcast reaaaaally helps, yea. I try to keep all my main stuff on the first alt/ctrl lines for ease of access and keep other spells on a storage pallet to copy/paste for spell changes (Regurgitation, CW and other nukes I keep in pallet 10 so I can either scroll up or copy them down to 1 or manually hit them there). I usually have the layouts for all of my jobs in a similar pattern too so I can keep some familiarities between them: Stuns/Bashes are always Alt+1/2, pre-WS buffs Alt+2-5, WS Alt+7 and on. Ctrl+1/2 Utsu/Seigan/Third Eye, Ctrl+3 TP gear etc.
Here's how my main pallets are laid out:
Alt
1) Sudden Lunge
2) Quad. Continuum
3) Quadrastrike
4) Amorphic Spikes
5) Chain Affinity
6) Efflux
7) CDC
8) Heavy Strike
9) Delta Thrust/Vanity Dive
10) Benthic Typhoon
Ctrl
1) Utsusemi: Ni/Ocultation
2) Utsusemi: Ichi/Cocoon
3) TP Gear
4) Animating Wail/Haste
5) Battery Charge/Refresh
6) Evasion Gear
7) Whirl of Rage
8) Actinic Burst
9) Plenilune Embrace/Magic Fruit/Cure IV
10) Dream Flower/Sheep Song
That's my standard stuff. The order is out of whack but it makes sense to me, like when your mom used to come in and "clean" your room but you get mad cuz you had all your sh*t exactly where you wanted it and she just messed it up.

Second, that's not how spell animations work. We wrap our arms around our faces and magic beetle shadows and sh*t fly at the targets.
