Empyrean Armor and possible new spellsFollow

They have just released the pics of what the full AF3 will look like, and I gotta say: compared to the detail they put into the other body pieces, ours seems rather lack-luster. (then again, it does seem like it fell a bit flat in terms of aesthetics, imo.)

Looking at the new mobs, what do you think we can hope for from those three new mobs?
I'm hoping for something like Mighty Guard (I can forgive no haste) from the Khimaira, something similar to a normal moves from a pixie, from the Dark Feys (never fought one before, so I have no idea what moves they do normally), and a cone attack move from the new Greater Birds (which looks like they put a Skirmisher's head from Halo: Reach and put it on a Greater Bird's body).

I'd like to see your opinion on these.

I don't think those pics necessarily mean anything at all for blu spells. The only reason they ever did before was because they featured completely new mob types, i.e. the voragean mobs. You may very well be looking at just NMs anyway... like we have seen in other teaser pics that had nothing to do with new spells for us (such as with the iron giant and iratham).
I wouldn't count on new spells from these 3 types of mobs, necessarily.

That said, I would still really like Summer Breeze from pixies (erase, if nothing to erase, regain). Maybe triple attack from Rocs if they were ever revisited.

If you want to guess on new spells, I would wait until the monsters/bestiary/whatever-they-call-it category is revealed on the site. That should show you the actual new mobs, if there are any this time.
Otherwise, I'd expect some more sapped moves from old world mobs. We are still missing a couple empty types, if they feel like going through those. There are some ToAU types they never touched, but would be incredibly difficult without a bunch around to learn from (vampyr, dvergr, orobon, acrolith, etc). Really, who knows what we might end up with this time. Given the last 2 updates, though, I have to say that I am excited to see. I really hope they keep the pace and give us ~6 new spells or so, and have them actually worth using.

Of course... we get no new set points this time... so anything awesome coming through is going to be rough. :P

As for the Empyrean armor set, I really dislike it. It doesn't look like a blue mage to me whatsoever, and all of it just looks really silly. The wings on the hat especially. Makes me think of a fast food worker or something.

I must say the mavi head has grown on me despite the odd turban shape of it that initially looks out of place.

I'm liking the look of the hands they seem cool but the body does seem out of place somewhat, I was expecting it to look like the bottom left pic here (hope link works if not just copy and paste) http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/addon/ex9/index.html with an almost all white theme not sure if that is some other gear or if it was not included.

I'm hoping that new spells once again wow us and get some nice new traits I'd appreciate an addition whereby having multiple set spells of a trait raised it's tier similar to how clear mind goes up the more you set from it's list etc.

As Blue mage lacks native non merit traits other jobs which have these traits pull ahead more and more as the level cap increases while we just have what our sub (most often the non job trait friendly ninja) gives us access too.

I'm aware we get a lot from set spells and there are already issues with preserving balance but if only to take it up to attack, evasion and defense bonus II etc would be a nice boon even in these atma driven zergs we seem to have become attached too ^^.

I liked the mavi head from the start... and while I could think of some improvements for the body (like a belt, or a sash maybe?) I kinda like the way it looks. May not be the fanciest model, but it is unique (i like the scarf thingy too).

On the other hand though, I love the gloves, but they don't seem to match the body.

I have to admit though, with the exception of the the button up collar, I'd LOVE for SCH's body to be ours...

I've always been a fan of the overly ornate Near Eastern themed equipment we've had in the past, so this new minimalist style doesn't really sit well with me, but I look forward to seeing what the stats are.

...And hopefully someone on the art team realizes the body's sky blue looks absolutely awful when the highlight color on the other pieces is bright white.

I like it simply because its different than any gear i have seen in this game. Hope fully we get some sick spells like wind shear from puks or fluid toss from slimes. My guess is they will probably just buff up some weaker old spells like they did for gob rush and Whirl of rage.
Dec 6 aint that far away hopefully we get some update notes over the week end.

That pic looks like ebur coat. (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/File:Ebur_Coat1t.jpg) And I agree that empyrean body doesn't really fit with the rest of set, or blu style in general. It's weird that some empyrean armors follow the AF style, and some go completely off.

I want to wear af3 to go nuke Raubahn. the different look, just makes me feel free of his influence... surpass him as a blue.. etc....

not sure we can expect hnm spells yet(assuming cap@90 in december).
pixies, maybe(they have some nice moves)
as for bird move, i guess you mean stormwind, but we already got a wind aoe in september(leafstorm)

there still are 3-4 empty mobs that don't give us spells(craver, seether, thinker and maybe receptacle), SE will probably continue with that.

there are also some other mobs(djiin, fomor, pixie), then maybe some "almost hnm"(orobon, sandworm, yorva, amphipteres)

but that's just what don't give spells yet, last time we got from bee, gob, arihman, weapon and hipogrypghs that already gave something.

some ideas of what could be nice(trying not to take thoses similar to existing spells) in the old mobs not used yet :
for empty :
-carver -> empty trash(dmg) / brain spike(dmg+para)
-seether -> wanion(give debuff you have) / lamentation(aoe dmg+dia)
-thinker -> empty cutter(dmg)
others :
-djiin -> dark wave(bio)
-fomor -> dancing chain(drown) / foxfire(dmg+stun)
-pixie -> summer breeze(erase or regain) / autumn breeze(heal)
fake hnm :
-orobon -> seismic tail(aoe dmg)
-sandworm -> slaverous gale (earth dmg ?)

and for lol :
-adamantoise -> earth breath (earth dmg) / harden shell (def+)
-wyrm -> drawn in (gather your party)
-yorva -> luminous drape(charm. if brd can have it, why not blu ?)
-amphiptere -> reaving wind(wind shield that knockback on contact...)

ok, the last 4 probably not :p
