BLU Subjob OptionsFollow

Ok, from what I have seen so far I am going with a handful of suggestions...

DRK

PLD

BLM

WHM

WAR

(In no particular order.)

Seeing as moves will be effected by TP as well as having an MP cost I am diggin’ DRK and PLD very much. Not to sound as if I am jumping on the /PLD bandwagon, but I see a lot of potential in this combo with Auto-refresh and the TP gain from shield. On the downside of /PLD I don't see the shield being used too much if hate is not being pulled, which is why I also am digging /DRK. STR Bonuses, MP and access to ex WSs bring that combo into the light.

For mage sub options, naturally WHM seems like the obvious choice. However, I think that the Magic Attack Bonuses offered by BLM will be far superior. This is taking into consideration the MB capabilities of the job, not to mention that the status effects caused by some of the spells maybe be tied to INT (but just as well may be tied into MND or both).

Anyway it's late, sorry about the pathetic format of the topic, but I'm tired.

Discuss...

Edit: SAM sub for TP based moves. Like duh mad I didn't think of that.

I'd adjust the list and include /sam at higher lvls.........you have a choice between magical attacks and tp attacks so logically it is an option open to you. We really dont' know enough about the magical attacks to know if blm would be good.

blu/rdm doesn't really look like a viable option at the moment. It seems pretty redundant.

Also, this is just a brainstorm, but I am thinking RDM might be the right sub. Right now, RDM doesnt seem to be the "perfect" sub for any job, so I am guessing SE could have created BLU in a way to satisfy this...? I think it is a good compliment. Without knowing stats yet...I expect you would get slight boosts in all areas BLU makes use of. I agree there is redundancy in the jobs but it may make the BLU more well rounded than going down other paths... "some" more MP, A- sword skill + en spells, + magic attack bonus...albeit later than BLM...

Anyway, just some thoughts.

There are bound to be a lot of odd color combinations over the next few weeks as people find out more about what goes well with blue. :)

Anything/WHM is a fine choice for soloing, especially at early levels. I'm not sure it's going to be a standout choice in parties later on, though, since BLUs look like they're going to be more front-line than most mages. Curative power is always welcome, but aside from that, an MP boost, and the other benefits of /WHM (-na spells, bar- spells), it doesn't seem as though it'll add a tremendous amount to BLU.

BLU/BLM could be interesting, since some of BLU's abilities seem to be reliant on INT (I think? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong). But again, /BLM does nothing for a BLU's TP gain or melee capability, which also seems like a fairly big portion of the job (thus my thinking that this is designed as a front-line mage job).

I think /NIN and /PLD have some strong reasons to be viable, at least during some stretches of a BLU's career. With a NIN sub, you can build TP pretty darned fast and can withstand some of the nastier weapon skills you may want to learn. From my very limited experience so far with BLU, they take a lot of damage while learning a new skill; both /NIN and /PLD would give a BLU more survivability through that process. /PLD has the benefit of additional MP (albeit a small amount) and that lovely new auto-Refresh; /NIN has the advantage of requiring no MP to do its thing.

DRK, WAR, and SAM all have their allure, too. More physical power seems as though it'll be helpful for BLUs in a way it rarely is for the other mage classes and each brings something potentially nice to the party. As with /PLD, /DRK will boost a BLU's MP pool over what it would be if the sub were a pure melee job, while WAR is always a great subjob choice for a strong melee emphasis; you don't need as much MP if you just pound the snot out of something, after all. :)

And I don't think /RDM would be redundant for a BLU. There's overlap on some enfeebles, sure, but /RDM would bring a nice spread of skills to the table--namely, more MP than a melee sub, more versatility than a BLM sub, and more firepower than a WHM sub. I think "purple mage" could work well. It might be especially good for solo or duo BLUs (assuming, that is, the job winds up being a good solo/duo class, which is still as up in the air as almost everything else about mysterious BLU).

Of course, I could be totally wrong about all this theorizing, but it will be a hell of a lot of fun playing around with various options and seeing which suit the job best for a given level, party setup, and purpose.

I'm thinking BLU/SMN would work pretty well, BLU gets most of the things it needs from main job, so you'd just need a lot of mp to keep it going, thats where /SMN comes in. Plus auto-refresh at 50+.

Won't matter much due to half skill in dark magic and the fact you can get MP Drainkiss at 41.

I'm probably going to go /rdm after the first few levels, at which I will be /whm, but keep in mind that I am a taru, and while BLU does have the worst MP pool, I'm thinking(hoping?) that I will get by just fine on my taru-ness.

However, I have planety of optionsl aubs to choose from, so whatever. I'm really hoping people will remain open-minded about the new jobs, but we all know how well that goes. =/

Hmm I"m going blu/bst "for those hard to obtain spells".

Really...what did SE expect our exp parties to do...travel for blu spells? What do we normally do when exp??? That's right we fight the same mob over and over until the next lv.

Never have I been in a normal exp party, lv'n off of toneberrys :/

I've done a few lvs as bst/war, bst/rdm, bst/whm...mainly anyjob I did not feel like putting myself through the normal party blues.

i feel that /Drk will be a very good option for Blu, just b/c its the absolute best of both world, it will help out in the DD/melee department, and it will also add MP, not much, but its enough, it will give good str/attk bonus, i also like a few other subs, but when i turn a Blu, i will be a Blu/Drk
