I'm really digging drg right now. What should I know? I've never messed with store TP before so I have no idea what that's all about (this is the first time I've ever decided to level a pure DD job in XI-) - what should I macro in for jumps? Anything? Tell me all the secrets I need to know (I've figured out my /blu breaths but advice is welcome!)

Just 36 right now, but I am really liking it. So anything you think I should know so I can play as well as possible would be appreciated.

For normal Jump you want to use the Artifact boots, as well as Vitality since it acts as a damage modifier (not at the expense of Str gear). Spirit Jump and Soul Jump (when you have your Wyvern out) should have +Crit Damage gear since they're forced criticals. You'll also want Lancer's Schynbalds +2 for Spirit Jump, since that increases the amount of TP you get back.

Mmm thanks that gives me some direction to start with. So STR and VIT are good for jump gear?

Regular Jump, yes. High Jump doesn't have the VIT modifier to it. For a lot of the jumps though I also like to throw in Double, Triple, and Quadruple Attack gear in slots to get a potential proc.

great. Like I saw on ffxiah people saying the screamol band could be used in a jump macro. I guess the slow doesn't proc if you just use it during jump? Now I'm annoyed I sold my windbuffet belt to get my brego gloves. On the bright side when people do WoE they often cycle between 12 and 15.

I still don't get X-hits/store TP yet. I'm not capped in level yet, but I know with stuff I have laying around I can get to 25% gear haste or near so with just one AH purchase. I'm guessing haste comes first? Also I figure that before I worry about much if any other gear I want to work on my OAT polearm/stardiver, since most of that if not all of it will be solo or against easy as **** targets I'm not too worried about looking gimptastical.

Also stardiver is the WS I want right? Should I make unlocking drakes a high priority as well?

Forgive me if I'm becoming annoying. I've just been rather surprised by how much I like DRG. When I got penta in the crawler's nest, and got to switch from the royal k. halberd to the holy lance +1 (ugh nothing on the AH), I was like OMGwtf... it was so cool being the person wiping the floor with stuff. I know extreme easy prey etc, but wow. NEAT. I've never played a DD in an MMO

Yes, Slow +% gear doesn't have an effect on delay if thrown in solely on Jump, but you need to make sure that it swaps in and out quickly, since if you get a melee swing in while still in your Jump gear, any +Slow you have (like from Sceamol Band) will affect your swing speed come the next melee round.

Haste comes first, though later on, if you can get a lower hit-build on your job, it's not too bad to sacrifice a bit of haste to make it work, since that reduced number of melee swings to get to 100% TP more than make up for the lower Haste.

Stardiver is a really good weaponskill to have, but Drakesbane also isn't too bad. Inside Abyssea Drakesbane will do significantly more given how potent Critical Hit weaponskills are in there with proper Atmas. Outside of Abyssea, and especially on higher level content/content that has Critical Hit Defense (Morta, some Legion mobs, etc), Stardiver will outperform Drakesbane, since Drakesbane has a significant Attack penalty.
