Level 60 questionFollow

Just hit level 60 and the various gear guides make me go "wut?" so figured I'd check with the experienced DRGs what gear is right.

EXP TP setup DRG/SAM
Weapon: Dark Mezraq (Avaible substitutes: None)
Grip: Rose Strap (Avaible substitutes: Pole grip, Mythril Grip +1)
Ammo: Smart Grenade (Avaible substitutes: Bibiki Seashell)
Head: Patroclus's Helm (Avaible substitutes: Emperor Hairpin, Walkure Mask, Drachen Armet)
Neck: Chivalrous Chain (Avaible substitutes: Peacock Charm)
Ears: Spike Earring (Avaible substitutes: None, but I can pick up an assault earring)
Body: Jaridah Peti (Avaible substitutes: Scorpion Harness)
Hands: Drachen finger Gauntlets (Avaible substitutes: the level 60 giga bracelets, forget their names as I muled them a long time ago)
Ring1: Rajas Ring (Avaible substitutes: Sniper's Ring, Woodsman Ring)
Ring2: Ecphoria Ring (Avaible substitutes: Sniper's Ring, Woodsman Ring)
Back: Jaguar Mantle (Avaible substitutes: the hp+30 enmity+3 mantle)
Waist: Swift Belt (Avaible substitutes: Life Belt, Swordbelt +1)
Legs: Republic Subligar (Avaible Substitutes: Drachen Brais, please oh please tell me there's something other than subligar I can use soon)
Feet: Leaping Boots (Avaible Substitutes: Mountain Gaiters, Drachen Greaves, been trying to get the acc+3 boots from AH, but I always seem to miss them when they're up)

For solo I switch out the spike earrings with mp+15 earrings, the panties with AF legs and body with scorpion harness.

Also, I got the Thrakon Breastplate and Assault Jerkin, which is better to use when they both become avaible?

The ACC+7 vs. Evasion Down effect is debatable. If you have Mez than I would just use that as it's hard to predict how often the effect will proc and compare them adequately.

Is that getting you a WS one hit sooner? If not, it's not doing anything for you. Pole Grip.

Only takes 4 people to farm these if you have the right jobs. It would only be a WS piece for you, though.

Harness wins. But you'll only be using it for one more level if you have Thrakon. I would stick with Thrakon over AJ unless you really are positive you don't need the ACC at the time, which is rare.

Pallas for Wheeling Thrust, but SFG for everything else.

Can side-grade to Feral Trousers if you can get a pair, but it's not really an improvement. If you Campaign in a big way you can get Fourth Schoss by Lv68.

Can't get spiked finger gauntlets, there have not been any up on AH for a month and I can't seem to find people willing to do the BCNM.

Sadly voyager falls under same problem as gauntlets, while I myself have both THF and SMN avaible, I don't know anyone willing to help

And originally I planned on getting the grand knight lance, but 0 up on AH and as a windurstian I can't buy it from NPC, so went with Dark Mezraq as I can make those myself

EWWWWW!

AF head does not enhance offensive breaths in any way. Wyverns pick out enemy weaknesses in elements automatically with decent success. Helm doesnt improve damage or make them pick better elements. Just improves healing breath trigger when /mage or with hybrid wyvern.

Walkure would be a much better choice for WS. (Though Id prefer valkyrie mask over walkure any day and use it too TP in as well.)

As for a TP head looking at pure DD stats, 2% haste is not going to do much without both haste spell and hasso. 2str is pretty bleh for TP. If possible (its expensive cuz its new) zeal cap+1 is the best option with better mixed stats (Acc3, Atk3, Haste2%). Granted the -enmity is nice, but not exactly game changing by itself.

While talking about enmity, sick of that subligar? Crow legs do well there. Combined with pat helm is -10 enmity. Basically at those levels as a Drg/war, any slot that has really 'meh' DD options you can always put in crow and ride that zerk a little more (*cough* AF gloves if no SFG). It works for mnk/war and it works for Drg/war. If you consistently pull more hate than youd like, the best way to increase your damage may not be through DD gear in crappy slots but the significant -enmity from a few crow/pat helm pieces. Using Pat+crow legs/hands is -14(-16 for HQs). Combined with high/super you can basically go balls to the wall all the time.

If you are not /sam then the STP gear (rose/Ecophoria/Chiv) are not going to make a difference as long as you use penta. (Wheeling it can make a diff but you only need raja+3stp for a 7hit). Whenever your /war using penta, drop chiv/eco/rose for PCC/Woods/Pole. Even /sam, you only need all your STP gear for a true 6hit if using wheeling. For penta keep rose strap and dump Chiv/Eco. Swap them back in if you use Wheeling.

For reference on STP needs for any 492 delay lance:

/Sam: True6 (wheeling)=11stp. For you that would be Raja/Rose/chiv/Eco.(MUST be full timed even during Wheeling)
/Sam: Ghetto6 (Penta)= 8stp for 3/5 penta (Rose/Raja=9 still 3/5). 7stp for 4/5 and 6stp for 5/5 penta.
/war: True7= 8stp (Raja+Rose=9)
/war: Ghetto7= 5stp for 4/5 penta. 6STP for 3/5. If your acc is good 4/5 should be pretty safe with just raja. The occasional stray hit should fix you up should you miss more than 1. But just using Eco over woodsman gives you a VERY safe 3/5. (You dont need to WS in eco, just TP/Jump in it)

Only one Zeal Cap +1 ever sold on my server making it quite a bit difficult to get a hold of, not to mention the price tag (2m) is far beyond what i'm willing to pay for something i'll be replacing in a few days with walmart turban anyhow oo;

While I love DRG and do want to come off as at least a competent player, 2m for a piece of gear that wont be used very long, sadly is a bit beyond what I'm willing to invest.
Though I may try my luck at having one synthed since I know a few bonecrafters..

Ask a friend to spend CP on the GKL for you and sell it to you.

GKL > Mez. Don't build your setup around an Add effect proc that only might proc.

It's been a very long time since I did any sort of number crunching on this but I think Dark Mezraq's additional effect needs to have something like a 10-12% process rate to beat GKL when Acc is uncapped. I'm almost guaranteed to be wrong though.

Well, wyverns only have about an 80% success rate without AF helm. With AF helm that gets further improved to 100%. Not that it'll somehow make AF helm worth using on WS, but there is SOME sort of improvement from using it.

Welcome to the DRG condition: There are very few AH gear options for DRG.

Rare/Ex gear like Aurum, Askar, AF+1 and Homam have some great choices but from level 1-68 on the AH there isn't much. The Thrakon breastplate is awesome and I really wish SE had introduced this sooner.

Keep leveling, your gear options will be better.


PS Wyvern Breath attacks are laughable (excluding Deep Breathing). SE really needs to buff them.

it is "free" Damage, but unless your fighting EP stuff the resist rate is rediculous whether using the proper element or not. Deep breathing kicks ass for lots of reasons (/mage and /melee), but if they just gave wyverns more macc or somehow reduced mob resistance like they did for skill chain damage a while back, it would really be very welcome.

I would LOVE it if they actually had decent acc on HNM, but id be content if they could just do anything over EM with any reasonable acc.

Maybe if i actually farmed on drg or something i would appreciate it more. But since i kill any easy mobs on thf, as im probably farming, about the only time i see unresisted breaths on drg is evry 5 min through our ghetto "Wyvern Seal".

I wouldnt mind a minor push on pet viability like this to remind us that we arent just drakesbane warriors with a much better version of tomahawk.

Actually, now that im thinking about it, AF only helps the element choice go from great to perfect. Relic increases potency (HP to damage formula). But has either actually been tested for macc by reducing resist rates?

As an addition to that, do wyverns begin to charge breaths the instant you use a WS or is there a slight delay (so that you could theoretically WS in DD hat>Put on AF>Wyvern starts charging proper element breath>Change to relic>Uses breath.

I imagine if there is a delay, it would require either windower to get the timing right with less than 1 sec /waits or to have:
/equip DDgear/hat
/ws "Drakes"
/equip hat AF
/wait 1
/equip Relic

Its been a while since if done anything like that with macros, but im pretty sure the macro wouldnt work right with gear>WS>gear with no waits.

Of course if neither AF or relic increase macc (would lean with relic as its ther for the actual breath looking at teh way healing breath works) then the macro stuff is all moot.

TLDR:
Has either helm actually been tested for reducing resist rates (leaning with Relic if either did). And is there a delay between using WS and wyvern beginning to charge that would allow one to WS in DD hat and slap on AF in time for proper breath?

I assume that this has been tried before repeatedly as many have desired to WS in AF>Relic in the past. I cant possible be on the cutting edge here :P But i dont actually recall any info on resist rates using AF/Relic.

I dont believe there is a casting at all on Elemental Breaths.

Even then, adding a better melee helm at the time of WS might do more than the wyvern breath considering how much wyvern breath is resisted.

If what you mean by this is that it shouldn't be affected by changing equip afterwards to increase, then the way we use healing breath wouldn't work with Saurian/AF. Supposedly equipping those helms after we do WS should work the same with normal breath... but I've never bothered to try.

If you meant something else, ignore me.

I equip Wyrm Armet after WSs. When I use Dep Breathing, you can notice the Armet's aded power.


Also, you cna magic burst wyvern's breaths, so they can not be instant (theyd be too fast to MB.

It does, but the bonus with relic helm isn't nearly as potent for offensive breaths as it is for healing breath.
