You still lose hate, after you use it the mob will be attacking your wyvern till you get hate back, which has applications if you find you're really getting your ass kicked and need a bit of breathing room.

Yeah, its best used when you know that you are not going to stay alive long enough for your wyvern to heal you. Use Super jump then turn away from the mob once you land so you dont pull hate, then use your trigger spell.

Also useful for avoiding AoEs, same as in a party setting.

I am surprised it doesn't do damage however considering how high you jump and the fact that you land spear first into the enemy.

in super jump you use your spear to break your fall rather than inflict pain. didn't you read the handbook?

Huh?

It doesn't actually hit the mob, hence why it doesn't do any damage at all. >.>

And the reason you jump so high, is exactly why it sheds so much hate. Look up it's description, it tells you that you jump out of the mobs range.

To the OP;

It's indespencable, especially when you are soloing a NM. When you SJ, all hate transfers to your Wyvern. And when you are in a tight situation, it helps to have your Wyvern take some hate for a little bit.

It's useful for when you aggro a Mamool or Skoffin by mistake.
Engage, let wyvern attack once, SJ, disengage, run the @#%^ away.

Also useful for avoiding high-damage TP moves like Eyes On Me. While doing FoV in Xarcabard, I would SJ immediately after seeing the "readies" message. And then laugh maniacally as the Evil Eye wasted it's TP. ^^

I don't disengage until I am forced to when running. That way the mob is 30+' away when it kills my wyvern.

Just a side note for moves like Eyes on Me. If you /blu you can head butt those and it wont cast it. I could pretty consistantly interrupt T's from casting things and almost always would against EM or below. At higher levels I would not trust this as much but so far into the 50's it has been extremely reliable for me.

I super jumped in dynamis after one of the melee's ran up and smacked ifrit(or the smn itself) in the face with a great axe.

Needless to say I was the only one left alive out of about 50+ people.

I'd just like to add that super jump is quite possibly the worst claiming tool in the game.

Thanks for the info!

Sorry about the wording of my original post, but you guys seemed to understand. It was late for me...

I thought previously that I could super jump away from a mob aggro, but it never worked. Now I understand that you have to engage, whack it once, then run away while still engaged, leaving the wyvern to tank. Right?

If the mob kills the wyvern while you are running away (still engaged), will it then come after you?

Yes it will still come after you, but you shouldnt have much of a problem getting to zone even if you have to disengage, snk/inv urself then run.

I think he means the animation. Which is true, you do land directly on top of the mob when you come back down.
