here's my question, buy upgrade askar body to aurum for TP and WS for 2M or buy heca body(1M) hands and feet (500k each), not including the cost of cursed gear. ...osh*t, that cursed gear is mighty expensive... guess i'll go for aurum, unless someone can convince me that any 1 of heca will improve me moreso.

WS is penta and mostly the same gear, swaps are: nq tarasque mitts, ohat, ruby ring x2, savage gaiters. my ws set is pretty crap. 8/8 polearm. acc is damn near cap for birds, if not there.

in a sea a sky shell, but got no sea access. i figured i'd just wait until this summer when CoP zones go uncapped since it will be so much easier. sky shell i'm in doesn't have a transparent looting system, but they purport to lowman things so it shouldn't take too long anyways, but i can only go to events 2-3 days a week due to school, and i don't really know if i'm gona last with them. really i just have 2M that i've been sitting on for about 3 months and i feel like actually spending it on something. anyways, i can gimp 6 hit w/ askar + rose strap, which i usually do. if i get aurum i can have a true 6 hit w/ rose.

Sky and Sea access,

The DEX mod is so tiny that he only loses one or two points of damage. The real concern is with the loss of about 4-5 points of Accuracy, which is fairly huge on a five-hitter.

I just read up a few posts... if this is for soloing and you are going for -phys/mag damage... buy Hydra over Gavial and Darksteel.. it is lvl 72.. sort of a beefed up version of gavial.

So I just got the Ares's this morning and not sure if they would be best for all WSs or just Wheeling or what. In the near future upgrades that are likely- N Body N Feet

Questions:
1) For hands, shall I use Hume RSE? If str is way to go will save gil for Alky
2) Been thinking about make the Str/Atk ToM polearm, but as it's 480dly cant decide between a) Use Rose strap & maintain 6 hit or b) Give up 6 hit(for example change body to ACP hauby) or c) Maintain current setup

1) Ideally you'd get a pair of Heca Hands for WSs, but as I'm not sure whether or not you're active in sky, this may not be possible. Otherwise, Hume RSE is probably a downgrade from Pallas Bracelets, since all your accuracy loss seems to be getting made up with the MKE head anyway, and you're not approaching the amount of DEX needed to make it a significant factor on your Drakesbane Crits. Alky's would be an upgrade.

2) If you decide to go with a STR+ ToM Polearm, I'd recommend using the Rose Strap over the Pole Grip. You'd be losing the 1.87% DoT from the DA, but that can be made up from the STR and Attack on the new weapon (even with 3 less base DMG). If let it go to a 7-hit, though, then it doesn't become worth it, and you're better off with the 492 Delay weapon.

Replace head piece with Walmart Turban or Askar.
Replace Etheral with a more damage-orientated earring like Fowling or Assault.

Also, for Drakesbane I'd say that switching Bushinomimi with Etheral would be the better choice as I doubt 5ATT is going to beat 2.4%~DA. For the hands, Heca would be best. If inaccessible, reach for Alky.

Ok, been a while since i posted here, thought of making a new thread, but found this instead. Ok, HUUUUUUGE acc problems i think. I dont have access to a parser, but it didnt take a genious to know i had acc issues at birds today, and well, every other day unless rolls/songs are acc, which they rarely are of course.

To start off, i have 20/20 combat merits dedicated to 2 of my other 7 jobs :( , so polearm merits are kinda not happening atm.

I tried crab sushi at birds, but wasnt impressed, of course, eyeballing my acc is a piss poor way of knowing what it is, thus why im here lol.

Most of my drakesbanes were doing around 1200 ish, with a march and min, which imo is crap. of course with double brd or cor and an acc roll i seem to be in the 1500-1700 average.

1) I am currently top tier in my sky LS for Nept Hands/Feet, just waiting for them to drop. Also top tier for Aurum boots in my ZNM LS, also waiting for them to drop.
2) I'm currently on Floor 56 of Nyzul Isle, and I do not yet have Drakesbane. Penta seems to be doing decent dmg at this point until I break this Radiant Lance.
3) Aesir Ear Pendant seems to make the Conserve TP Job Trait Proc very often, I want to say almost every weaponskill. Has anyone tested this by chance?
4) I have some questions about gear options going into 80+. I was wondering if the folllowing would be wise considering Haste/ACC/Crit% on a TP build /SAM (I have 4 Crit merits 8/8 Polearm):

If so, these are all very obtainable pieces for me. The only thing eluding me atm is Love Torque, seeig as there arnt any sea LS around anymore, only Limbus (JoL being one of the harder to do). Also I should note that I don't have any Homam in my build, bc I just got sea acces after this last update. Thanks for your advice.

It's not for soloing, it's a general "oh sh*t!" PDT set that every good melee should have.

Aurum over Askar has 3Str and about 4Att, wont change much. The Askar set also has 4% Double Attack not accounted for in the above comparison.

Basically, if you're uncapped Acc, Perle will win.
If you're capped Acc, Askar/etc will win

I'd concider perle for times when you'd normally swap in an acc ring and ace's over turban/blitz for example.

Now, this was done to -try- and improve my Atk as much as I could figure. My acc is fine. But, my biggest problem is my WS dmg. I don't run a parse, but I have a LS mate that does every so often. Suffice to say my average over 300 battles was 380 dmg. Which makes me sad. Now, I was however only beaten by 2 very well geared drks overall, but I was also 2-4 levels ahead of all the other DD. We were on the black mandies in Abyssea-Tahrongi. Haste every once in awhile and no bard/cor. Also no Hasso, Seigan and riding 3rd Eye as much as possible.

Now, I wanna figure out what I'm doing wrong and need to fix. Cause I just dunno. I have 1 merit in Str, and only 2 in polearm. Pre-update my Drg rarely got any playtime since I'm a career Rdm.

Another little note, I don't wanna hear anything from Drgs that -ONLY- do birds. I rarely fight anything that's weak to piercing unless we go to Limbus and I get to come Drg (even rarer). I'd like to know what I need to improve my general WS dmg that I'm just not seeing. Once I unlocked Sonic Thrust I was doing fairly steady 500 dmg, but considering I've seen people posting much better numbers I'm just saddened even more.

Any help?

Just go ahead and get full perle for TP, for starters. The haste you've already lost on the individual pieces of it you've swapped in are hurting your damage more than gains you're making in other places with it. Honestly, with how easy it is to acquire and how much better it is than most everything else for non-solo situations, excluding some very situational circumstances, we could practically replace most of this thread with 'Get full Perle'. If you have it already, go back to swift belt, you lose 9 attack but that 1% haste and 3 accuracy are almost definitely going to beat it, especially if you're going back to full perle +14% haste to start.

Your WS issues...I have no idea. 380 Average on those mandies is abysmal for Drakesbane, are you sure your friend got the parse right? I don't see any major issues with your WS gear. I guess first off I'd say finish your polearm merits. Your accuracy isn't as good as you think, and my best guess is that you're not landing all of the hits consistently. The 25Acc WS head doesn't mean you don't need more elsewhere, especially and even if you had capped merits.

That's actually a lot more relevant than my answer on the WS issue, didn't even think of that.

I am 8/8 polearm, and have been playing around a little with extra acc gear for drakes. As for CoP, I am on three paths and am slowly moving through it. I have also been soloing Cep-Kamuy lately on BLM in hopes for a Kemas Earring, seems like a good WS and TP earring.

DEX build isn't worth it unless you know targets VIT. Go for

Low level TP set, not quite level 30. Which slots could use some improvement?

since soul/spirt jumps have no special stat mods like regular jump and auto crit, should we be focusing on atk besides crit dmg+, considering that inside abyssea fstr will likely be capped?

Assuming Acc is capped, just concidering the 3% Double Attack and 1% Haste, Atheling mantle beats Lancer's Pelerine in both sets unless you have double marches (1% haste equals 3% DA at about 65% haste). Essentially, Pelerine is only better if you're attack and haste are very high (Read: you're in a zerg).

I'm assuming you use Speed belt? (it's the only belt that would make you 25% with af+1 hat/feet, pearl legs, aces gloves and timarli body.
Assuming we remove Lancer's Pelerine from both sets, the difference in haste will be 24% vs 19%. Assume hasso and haste, no marches: increase in dot from HASTE ONLY: 9.8%.
Drg damage distribution is something like 30%TP, 10-15% Jump, 55-60% WS. Going from 6hit to 5hit is an increase in WS frequency of 20%. Even if WS ratio is low estimate of 55%, that's an increase of 11% total dot.

Purely in terms of the haste vs 5hit, you need one march for the first set to pull ahead. THIS DOES NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE OTHER DD STATS IN THE COMPARISON. The 5hit set also has 3Str and 15ish attack over the higher haste set, but this will hardly contribute at all to your total DoT (TP phase damage is only 30% of you're damage anyway).
