Samurai was my fav class in game back when I use to play... was wondering how they are now days.
Considering the newer gear that has been introduced since the level cap raised beyond 75, and the new merit WS Tachi:Shoha, SAM is considered one of the best DDs in the game atm. All of the bandwagon SAMs jumped ship when Abyssea came out, and then jumped back on when Shoha came along, kind of funny to watch, really.

I actually just picked back up since about 2008, a few months after WotG came out, so I have been playing catch up on much myself. There are several job abilities that have been added that are beyond powerful. Konzen-ittai is a job ability like Wild Flourish, only stronger. With it, you can self Light with Kasha and Dark with Gekko. I use it with my best friend who has started playing to do a 3 step light that is oblitterating everything we face when we duo. Kozen -> Dragon Kick (frag) -> Kasha (light), have broken 2k damage on the light. Also, if you are opening or an intermediary step in a skillchain, Sengikori will toss an extra 25% damage on a skillchain that is closed by the WS after yours. So there is some more craziness.
In short, I was not all that worried about sam back in the major bandwaggon days of 2005~2008, but since playing it now, I am mainlining Lights into my veins... lol.

Man, I miss my Samurai. I started playing in 2005 and it was my first job to 75. I always loved Meditate lol. But, I left right before the level cap raise was announced. I came on here and saw people with 90SAM next to their name and was like "Wtf?". I miss this game, but I've been out far too long to want to make a comeback. I'll aways miss those days doing things that people don't give two craps about now because the game as surpassed them lol. Noob parties in Valkurm, fighting for camps in Yuhtunga Jungle, when Dynamis Lord was kinda hard, etc. It'd be cool to play like 2007 FFXI..for me I'm saying. It was a blast.

I feel the exact same way. Game just isn't the same.
Samourai is still kicking ass when played right, just like in the old days :) It's just that they levelled the playing field with the other DDs ^^
