I'm not the one of them 'elite' players whom have an empy weapon on every job. Most of my gear is the best you can buy from the auction house (yay dynamis farming). For awhile now I've been getting lots of 'enhances zanshin' gear drops from stuff like abby. I've also been using the kikugosaku (can attack again off a zanshin). Now that 30% of your zanshin rate in hasso mode gives you a short of double attack ability and increases counter rate in seigan mode, I'm wondering, how common zanshin gear is among other samurais? It seems pretty powerful to me. You also get a tp bonus on the zanshin attack like ikishoten works. With only 3 merits in ikishoten, I get 57 tp off a regular melee and zanshin double attack.
To make a long story short, what are peoples opinions on zanshin gear? Does anybody use a zanshin build? Do I get to sell back my brego gloves now that I have ace's mufflers(i still got a 5 hit)? Any info on this dead forum is helpful.

Zanshin Builds?Follow
If I were to make a Zanshin build, which I'd only swap in for situations where I can have Hasso up, I'd really only use the Unkai Domaru +2, Unkai Sugemino, and maybe Ace's Mufflers if a 5-hit can be maintained (which you say you're able to do). You'd only really want a Zanshin build if you have Hasso up, and you wouldn't want to sacrifice any armor piece that would drop you below capped gear haste.
Now, while the Kikugosaku is an okay Great Katana, you may want to look into getting a different Great Katana before too long. Although it has the high damage to it and the Zanshin boost, it also have a very high delay which is a bit counterproductive since your attack speed will be low. If you get one of the newer non-Magian Great Katanas that are available through Legion, or one of the Magian Great Katanas such as the TP Bonus one, you'll want to make adjustments accordingly for the lower delay to maintain your 5 hit.

Legion is probably out of the picture for me. My group has dwindled to under 10 people in the shell. I did complete an annoying magian weapon when I was just starting to gear samurai. I went for the STP version because I didn't have any of the STP gear I have now back then. I don't look forward to another magian trial.
Is my zanshin gear a bit overkill? It seems better the more I stack. Right now I have unkai body +1(working on +2), the sugemino, mimizari, ace's mufflers, and even a katana strap. I see a lot of people going straight for DA which is a bit confusing since it doesnt give the tp increase a zanshin DA would give or counter protection in seigan.

It's worked well for me, I'm often tanking in dynamis or abby and I only ever die to mobs that spam magic or massive aoes. My damage seems fine. My regular melees are weaker than our war and apoc drk, but I WS and SC way more often and for more damage than they do.

I wouldn't bother using the Mimikirazi or the Katana Strap over something like Pole Grip and Ghillie Earring +1, primarily because the earring's Zanshin increase is so minimal (I believe 1%) and the Katana Strap won't offer you much in situations where Hasso is down. While swapping from a Zanshin to non-Zanshin build depending on whether or not Hasso is up would be a good idea, you wouldn't want to swap grips in those situations since you'd lose TP as a result, and the DA from Pole Grip would do far more for you in a Hasso down situation.

I was actually contemplating this question myself recently. Good to see that I wasn't crazy. Right now I am duoing with a friend on his pup, so Hasso is up virtually the entire time. I may have to look into some of the Zanshin gear in this case.
