I agree with you 100% Vegetto, I wasn't able to pull hate off of an afk WAR(co-tank) on top tier NMs, when I'm supposed to be the main tank. That's why I was always on MNK most of the time.
But after getting Masamune 85, my SAM became a 50/50 TP/WS Ratio job with RR and VV Atma. The critical damage with aftermath is just too good to pass up. around 700 damage criticals with out ODD proc, and around 1.1k with ODD proc. I had a weird 2.4k damage critical about a week ago. Changing from Razed ruins to a more SAM WS related Atma only bumped my WS average by about 150-200 damage(from 2.7k-2.9k). Unfortunately I can only use parse as a reference because I suck at math. I'm not sure if RR is hurting my WS damage by a lot because of 5hit build , I can't imagine doing 2.7k damage in 4 swings. But whatever lol, back to Gekko and Hiradenotachi +1 atma choices.
Like Veggeto said, If you have RR and a crit hitting job, SAM is obsolete. Until we get an Atma that does TP bonus:Superior, Conserve TP:Superior and Store TP:Superior. A Gekko SAM will never get close to a crit WS job with RR atma. For triggering atma, you might as well bring a NIN with a GK.
I would pick Stout arm for the second slot, specially for Fudo assuming I have Hiradenotachi +1 instead. The Would-be-king atma has a typo, It only gives TP bonus:minor, same as the Demonic skewer atma. DS has STR+20 over WBK, so I would use DS instead.
I'm assuming DA on harvester is at 10%. Still not worth, because Fudo pretty much one-shot mobs so less chance of DA on WS. But +10% still put you to like +35%-40% DA if you /WAR though, assuming they stack(VV+Harvester+/WAR+equip). The same proc rate as OAT weapons, so I don't know, tough choice.
