Best two Atma?Follow

So while I have other jobs I love, Samurai is forever my favorite. Therefor I figured I'd go all out and get both Atma specifically for Sam.

I see 3 that catch my attention, 1 that is obvious.

Obvious: Atma of the Voracious Violet
+50 STR +10% DA +2tp/tick Regain

Now the questionable:
Atma of the Harvester
+40 STR +?% DA and +?% Resist Sleep

or

Atma of the Razed Ruin
+50 DEX +50% Crit +30% Crit Damage

40 STR and more DA% seems amazing for WS but 50 DEX 50% crit AND Crit damage boost is so hard to pass. Especially considering if I play Monk(I know, focus on Sam but still!)

A different Atma you might want to use is Atma of the Would-Be King from Sippoy. With a Regain, Conserve TP, and TP Bonus effect, it's well suited for Samurai.

Idk how much DA is on harvester, but I'd either say that or stout arm for the second slot.

That being said, if you have any jobs w/ a crit ws and you do happen to get razed ruins, your sam is obsoleted and should never see the light of day again, unless you need it to trigger !! for farming.


Well obsoleted in the fact it may not do as much damage as boring jobs sure :p Sam will never be dropped, even if it becomes the new OLD Drg :p

I agree with you 100% Vegetto, I wasn't able to pull hate off of an afk WAR(co-tank) on top tier NMs, when I'm supposed to be the main tank. That's why I was always on MNK most of the time.

But after getting Masamune 85, my SAM became a 50/50 TP/WS Ratio job with RR and VV Atma. The critical damage with aftermath is just too good to pass up. around 700 damage criticals with out ODD proc, and around 1.1k with ODD proc. I had a weird 2.4k damage critical about a week ago. Changing from Razed ruins to a more SAM WS related Atma only bumped my WS average by about 150-200 damage(from 2.7k-2.9k). Unfortunately I can only use parse as a reference because I suck at math. I'm not sure if RR is hurting my WS damage by a lot because of 5hit build , I can't imagine doing 2.7k damage in 4 swings. But whatever lol, back to Gekko and Hiradenotachi +1 atma choices.

Like Veggeto said, If you have RR and a crit hitting job, SAM is obsolete. Until we get an Atma that does TP bonus:Superior, Conserve TP:Superior and Store TP:Superior. A Gekko SAM will never get close to a crit WS job with RR atma. For triggering atma, you might as well bring a NIN with a GK.

I would pick Stout arm for the second slot, specially for Fudo assuming I have Hiradenotachi +1 instead. The Would-be-king atma has a typo, It only gives TP bonus:minor, same as the Demonic skewer atma. DS has STR+20 over WBK, so I would use DS instead.

I'm assuming DA on harvester is at 10%. Still not worth, because Fudo pretty much one-shot mobs so less chance of DA on WS. But +10% still put you to like +35%-40% DA if you /WAR though, assuming they stack(VV+Harvester+/WAR+equip). The same proc rate as OAT weapons, so I don't know, tough choice.

As far as Crit ws jobs and sam being obsolete, I've got a 5 hit koku+1, vhelm, af3+2, heafoc, etc. No Masamune, but I like to think my sam is pretty well geared. my ws do anywhere from 800-1300 on average in abyssea depending on what I'm fighting and defbuffs on it. Bearing in mine I am using an OAT weapon, so while I'm only doing 1k, I'm spamming 1k every few seconds.

Grats again on Massamune btw. Your sam is definitely top tier. I was thinking of going for one myself, since it's the easiest (imo) of the emp weapons to get, but I'm a mnk main, and would love to see myself in a pair of Vereth.

man, the gear out nowadays is outrageous. we would have been like "whaaaaat, why would you ever need so much??" Back In The Day (capitals for self-conscious self-deprecation regarding retired players mentioning "the day"). also, so funny to see askar korazin as the WS body piece for a maximally geared SAM. dissed for so long by forum math gurus (though it's also a funny bit of trivia that zanshin of all things actually made askar body the top tier TP piece in some situations for awhile too, before random pieces of gear obsoleted it).

not that we forum math gurus realized it, since for some reason no one took into account zanshin's effect on the value of ACC for like 5 years (then rose strap came out like a week after the posts that changed our minds and changed them back).

i guess it's not that funny, but it's a bit funny.

When meriting first started, and the the years after it, ACC was a vital stat. I remember MNK's aiming to hit at least 80% acc to eat meat (which was tough early on w/o the gear). Then we got minor gear upgrades which kept allowing us to up our acc a little keeping our haste in tact. Then usukane came along giving MNKs a way of capping acc at merit camps. Then we got Pizza etc etc

Then all of a sudden - BOOM

We get Abyssea + level cap rises

BOOM - Empheareal gear & weapons better than relics

BOOM - Atma's which are better than gear itself.


Yeah, Askar body is great for none usu because acc is a none issue nowadays.
