Trial 1597 - Unleash Tachi: Koki 300x times on experience-yielding monsters of the Birds ecosystem.

Where is the best place for this?
My first though was colibri's but with tickle not a great idea...

hate to send more people down there but...

birds ecosystem also includes bats. havent tested but assuming SE is sticking to anything over level 56=EP forever, head down to bostineaux oubliette-god i must have buchered that-and slaughter some barely EP bats with signet on. they can barely hit my ranger, and my dnc goes multiple mobs without being touched. depending on your gear/meditate timer 2-3 ws per mob, just wander around and slaughter til you get tired.

Tragopans in Bibiki Bay are super easy to deal with at level 80. I used NPC on Soothing Healer to knock out the last 100. I also did birds on windsday there for another trial. Bibiki Bay is usually empty, but last night when I was doing it though there were tons of people. Maybe they are trying to Crest farm.

I did it in sky. Took a couple hours. Birds were rough during JP time, only killed like 20, since 100+ people there. NA time was only thirty so I rocked the rest out.

@ Sandmaster: I know that before the update I was working on thunder katana for NIN and the funguars in Crawlers Nest [listed on wiki as 51-54] were all too weak for my 80 NIN. The ones the Boyahda Tree [listed 60-63?] were, and still are EP.

Yeah that's what I did. A little bit spread out but enough of them to support 1 or 2 people.

Then I followed up with Crabs in Kuftal Tunnel for the store tp one although now I'm wondering if I should have went for the WS damage one.

If the AF3 armor is anything of an example, these weapons may be upgraded to a +2 version, but who knows.

If anything, it is a nice easy holdover, and doesn't take very long to complete. I've also made about 50 BS, and 35 KS in the mean time, which is a nice chance at a few mil, and a sure chance at 300k.

I'm on the last trial and should have it completed by tomorrow. Currently SAM 83.5; when I reach 85 I'll give as much feedback about the weapon as I can. From the limited testing I've done so far, on EP mobs in no STR gear, the dmg is literally equivalent, the kasha + 10% bonus does pull slightly ahead. Overwhelm by far stacks in Hagun's favor.

Quick story time:

I was meriting earlier for about 3 hours,[guess I should say leveling now, old habits...] in Abyssea Kons. on those lovely Wivres.[Its a great camp by the way, really amazing to see 9 + wivres being pulled, slept, and our THF went right back out to get more, because they would all be dead within a couple of minutes. Very terrifying with all of that mass around you, lol]

Sam1 - full usu, hagun; tp'd in standard r/e: justice, brutal, bushi, rajas, flame, no v belt [WS'd in full usu... wruuuuuu]
Sam2 - me standard turban/haub+1/dusk/byakko/fuma/bushi/raja/swift/etc [ws gear here ]
Sam3 - Pretty much the same as me but he had Ace's
Sam4 - full perle, soboro, didn't check him

With hasso, haste, double march, and 10% haste samba... I literally could not keep up with the amount of TP I was being given. 3 out of the 4 sams in the ally were all still using Hagun, while I swapped back and forth between 10% kasha Keiton, and Hagun. The fourth sam was using full perle and Soboro. DoT was obviously superior for Keiton, WS numbers were fairly even, but any TP overflow and Hagun went !@#$%@#$^@^!#$^ numbers. I never broke 1k on Keitonotachi, but hit 1k+ several times on Hagun at 100-110%, with a high of 1.5k, sitting around 685 attack SAM82/NIN41 at 140ish% TP. All the 200% haguns resulting from sekkanokis were at a flat 1k.

I point this out because many times in abyssea you cannot get a killshot, and your TP must be held. MANY OTHER TIMES IN HIGH HASTE SITUATIONS there is such TP overflow that you miss a hit [or a double attack] and are left with the tp. I'm one of the sams that when allowed to /WAR will voke, and moving to the mob for overwhelm. When I'm /DRG or /NIN, I'm shadowing the PLD or first voker, making sure I move as little as possible, and busting out that overwhelm the first second I can. Even being agressive, with great buffs, and a great backline, not all things are as simple as theory or mathcrafting would predict. A parse is a great tool to judge your own accuracy, your gear choices, your food choices. It can be misleading to apply a mathematical situation in the void, against the actual reality.

Food yellow curry buns [atk down,] full timed hasso as much as I could without being a burden.

TL;DR? -- I'll test the weapon more when it's unlocked. I suspect additional trials will further cement its position ahead of our old compatriot. I still carry Hagun, and I probably always will because I like it [I still have Magoroku lulz.] If you haven't checked out the Wivre camp, do so. Nothing like the ground shaking madly while you and 3 other samurai brethren storm and SC the sh!t out of things and dirty devilish blackmages make them all disappear from your skillchains.

Best guess is either the Soldier Pephredos in Wajaom or the bees at the entrance area of Ifrit's Cauldron.

Yeah every Peph camp in wajom has a Sam there atm, which has been good for me on mnk doing Vermin killer as I you can get an invite and promise not to kill his bees, so i'm gettin the Sam's kills while I kill nearby spiders. The bargin chip is I can keep the sam healed from /dnc meaning he can spend all his tp WSing the bees.

I'm really hating doing the 300 Tachi: Kasha kills on beasts for the last stage of the WS DMG+10%. I've had at least 5 times where I WS and take the mob to 1% and then smack it dead with a regular swing. I have had a couple groups come and leech beast kills off of me. I don't really mind. It does hurt the little XP I was getting, but it keeps them from competing for me on mobs.

Capping at 20% at 99 seems more likely than 90, given feedback on Hagun; my personal wild speculation is that Keito will get Fudo before the other katanas.

The one hive that I know of that very few players seem to go to is the one by the ??? for the ZNM Vulpangue in Wajaom Woodlands, most likely because it's just so far out of the way that most players don't want to take the time to make that trip.

The best place I have found for bird trials (thanks to wiki) was in King Ranperres Tomb. Dire bats, 8-10 spawns and only a few EP scorpions to deal with. On top of that, you can call your NPC and its close to a city. It also seems to be fairly unknown. All the amenities I could ask for.

IMO, i dont do any trials in ToAU areas, i only do them where I can call my NPC. Her healing casting haste makes a huge difference in these trials.

yeah, I wish I could tweak my NPC to just Pro/shell/haste(on me, not her)/Dia.

The silly woman keeps wasting mp on debuffs that don't land and feeding mob tp with her low dmg strikes.

Just wanted to add to this in terms of the Koki on 300 birds.

I went to the Oubliette and was quickly disappointed. 2/3 of the bats were Too Weak. I'm already spending time here, I don't feel like clearing TW to hope an EP will pop.
Not a fan of Nashmau or Sky because NPC can't go there and I love leveling mine to make it seem less of a grind.

So this time I set out to Cape Terrigan to give Cockatrice a try. They are birds and part of a Field Manual for some extra exp/gil/tabs for warp plus Cockatrice Meat sells very well for a decent price. The problem was Cockatrice suck. Even when I turned the SECOND I saw "Readies Petrifying Gaze" I still got Petri with my back turned, which usually lasted 90+ seconds dropping me to low yellow/high orange HP and one time allowed another Cockatrice to come over and assist in killing me. Joy.

So I walked over to Valley of Sorrows, remembering the great exp parties here on Perytons. They are birds and they don't do anything! So now I'm running around H-7/H-8 slaughtering them and Raptors for the Manual as Sam/Dnc with Hasso up full time(no need for Seigan) and next hour I'll do Peryton/Manticore because Raptors require more kills.

Just another idea for people who want to stick to NPC'able areas and fight easy birds that are 100% EP, no TW's.

*edit*
Finished Birds. In the meantime did multiple Peryton/Manticore books getting 1300 LP per hour plus the base kills. Gotta say, any other weapon that requires birds, if any, I will redo here. Cake walk and some nice drops totaling up.

I finished the bird path just earlier. While perhaps a bit troublesome at times, Lesser Colibri worked just fine. No one was hunting them anymore on Valefor, so i had the entire place to myself. Kills were quick, and the whole Feather Tickle thing only took away one WS every 5 or so i threw out. Perhaps i was just a little lucky, but i havent lost an incredible amount of TP to them. I'd like to say the benefit of incredibly easy, fast and plentyful monsters outweight the lost TP every now and then. Also, Colibri resist Koki a little more than Bats who are actually weak against light, so you might get more WS's per mob too.

A place to avoid however is Upper Delkfut's Tower. While described in the Wiki as a good spot to hunt, Floor 12 has a level 85 NM up at almost all times that aggro's and makes picking out bats troublesome. Floor 11 has Giga's who like nothing more than giving you a poke as well. Not to mention linking is a bit problem when it comes to the bats up there. Your main target with Signet on wont be too bad, but the second one will take chunks out of your hitpoints rather fast. I spend my first 50 kills up there, and after a while i just couldn't take it anymore how careful i had to be not to get myself in a dangerous position.

Adding something else, since after Bird is Vermin for the WSD Keito.
The F-6/F-7 area of Attohwa is absolutely a dream. There are more mobs than I can kill before half repop and adds mean nothing. I had 3 Antlions at a time and 3 Ogreflies a few times with no trouble in non-Evasion gear using only Seigan+Third Eye and Drain Samba(not even Curing Waltz)

Crazy easy. Just make sure to Healing Waltz poison, it is harsh.

*edit*
When going 1 on 1, kept Hasso up full time for Haste. Only used Seigan on adds.
