Expert Theory on 6Hit Vs 5Hit Gear StapleFollow

Last time I post this, I promise. But I need some advise on the gear, being the best SAM is my thing. Every SAM in FFXI is working toward getting a relic, or getting the best gear to be the best at SAM. Just asking in expert opinion, which would you believe would be better performance. Ppl always asking for a new 6 hit setup anyway so kinda the same thing ^^b

Biggest Things that stand out for me
6Hit
+30 Attack During TP
+7 Acc
+15STR on WS
+3INT on WS
-35 evasion -5 AGI with +9Enmity <~ can't stand this, got capped parrying but still.
+26% Gear Haste 6HIT
+2% Double Attack

5Hit
+22 Evasion with only +3Enmity (List+12 but doesnt count head bonus)
+18% Gear Haste 5HIT
+3STR+5DEX while TPing- Think 5DEX is +0.5% Crit or something idk.
+20Acc +8Dex while WS (I know it does nothing for Damage but I hate missing WS)
+5 Subtle Blow TPing (not really much to you, but I like it^^)

These are things that will make or break the staple imo. I believe this is the best 6 hit gearset for doing damage and WS for IT+ Mobs. If not feel free to change.

From the looks of it, 5 hit favors Skillchaining with PT, and /DRG since you'll most definetly get a SC every jump/meditate/sekkenoki now. It also is a clear+ 57 Evasion Boost over 6hit which to me makes up for the lower attack and WS, cause clearly, if your a good SAM, your a tank.

6Hit gives you more plain damage in the attack and WS department, which seems to be a clear trade off for survival, kinda like RNGs. I love haste, seeing your character swing a GKT fast is always entertaining.

Anyway, from the amount of haste% added in with the info from FFXIGEAR and added all JA and sub JA's, which you guys think is better to reach for?

I got a tell about the cost of the gear differences, and the 5hit actually cost less than the 6 since black tathlums are freeking 12m on my server compared to 2m for white, and haichiryus are selling for 35m. So its a thing of Difficult to Obtain Usukane body piece, Ekidnu legs, or spending an extra 45m in Cost.

What happens if you miss though and that thing does activate???

If your implying that the 5hit setup is terrible, you should look at the side by side comparisons of attack acc STR DEX yada yada again. The setup is actually better than 95% of the SAM FFXI has to offer. What i really don't get is unless you actually have the 6hit i posted in the example, this 5hit IS GOING TO BLOW YOU AWAY IN DOT HNM'S and everything else a SAM does anyway. If you were to calculate a 5hit 450 delay GKT with the stats VS the 6hit, you'd notice the entire point in me posting it was that 5HIT is always going to get you 100TP faster than 6will. The 6hit setup is as good a haste (36%) Accuracy, and attack your going to get out of just gear and food. If you can come up with another thats better, post it.

My Question was basically, is the less time spent going from 0~100 or 20~100 better than the best equipped 6 hit setup.



They are realisticlly harder, but the whole point in going for any good gear is the challange and the point your playing ffxi imo. If everyone just settled on less than 100K items on AH to make there SAM, 6 hit questions wouldnt be asked and every SAM would be FFXI's version of "gimp." You could also wear Hachiman Domaru if you can't get Usu body (which I'm doing now) your running around with -16 accuracy though.

The 6 hit luxuries aren't things you are just wearing since you can afford them, there there because thats, from what i know of, Top notch gear for TPing and WSing in for 6hit SAMs. If you were to wear anything else your DoT and performance would be worse, they are nessesities.
