Full AF except pants.
Relic gloves, feet.
AF3 head, legs.
Grotesque Cesti (buy on AH) or Taurine Cesti (drops from Indrik in AbyUleg).
Haste feet until you're able to cap haste via other means.
Standard melee stuff like Atheling Mantle, Rajas Ring, Brutal Earring.

Get a PDT/MDT gear set (Arhat's head/body, various other pieces). Dark Rings from AbyKon and Twilight Torque are good for general DT.

Get a decent Chakra set. Genbu's Kabuto plus a few other vit pieces (Melee Cape, Warwolf Belt, Tantra Tathlum, etc), along with AF body and relic hands will heal quite a bit in Abyssea.

+2 the AF3 as feasible. The entire set is good, so try to get all pieces.

Unlock Ascetic's Fury.

Until you're ready to get into some more serious specialization, that should do you for most stuff, especially now as we hit level 99.

I'm planning on returning in the next few days, when I reinstall Windows and FFXI. I took a break when the semester was winding down, right when the level cap was raised to 95. A lot of BLaM/BiRDing got me a fair amount of +1s, but I hadn's started on +2s yet. I'm curious what upgrades have come up from support slots.

Anything jump out? Any big paradigm shifts for MNK while I've been gone?

P.S. Any tips on getting a wife to play WHM for you? I've gotten her into other MMORPGs, but some friends confused the hell out of her when I tried to get her into FFXI and I'm having a hard time getting her to give it a second go.
