Main thf, gov lvling and must have gearFollow

I have always wanted to lvl thf and now that i have returned to the game i'm considering lvling thf

I have tried Gov lvling and it is extremely fast to the point that i see people lvl in fishing gear is that normal?

I have questions that is mostly related to lvling and gearing for thf at the current state of the game ( i used to play in 2005/6 when people lvl in 6 man party )


1) In Gov apart from smashing the hell out of the mob what thf usually do? should i pull, should i try to pull of sata or or SA and not bother sticking TA ?

2) Now that lvling is so fast what gear is must have while lvling ? and when/what do i upgrade ?

3) This is related to question 2, should i take my time and camp LL for Bounding Boots and VE for Empress Hairpin ? or it is not worth it now that you reach very high lvl in no time and these two has no use


I also would appreciate any advice for beginner thf in 2012, although i used to play the game way back it has changed alot.

Not knowing your level, it is hard to tell you what you might be doing in GoV, or where you are at (I take the easy route that most people on my server do. It is hard to get people to go try out different camps T.T)

1)You probably wont be pulling. Most groups kind of move together making sure that each kill grants everyone EXP, thus each kill counts towards the GoV kill. Unless you are in a very small group, don't bother with SATA, but you can SA for a crit and then get behind someone for a TA crit.

2) This is up to you. Do you feel everyone is judging you because you do not have up-to-date gear? There is normally 3 GoV spots, so that gives you 3 chances to gather up gear (unless every time you log, you leave the zone. I do not do this, I stick to the area until I know something better can be done. EXP Cap/page is not lost when you log out in the zone).

3) Again, up to you. Emp Hairpin is nice all around. I've had one for ages, I wore it up until I could wear my O.Hat (I have old school gear :p). As for the boots, I've never had a pair (had Winged, it is the same thing...). You will replace gear quickly so it is not a big deal.

I would say no. I did go gather 2 of mine for THF (Hands and Helm), but I just have not been motivated to go get the rest. Maybe one night when I have nothing better to do.
I only wore the hands until I hit 75, and that was because 1) I stayed in the zone I was in to stay at Book EXP cap & 2) there really wasn't anything too better to wear.

Now if you have gil (buy some good gear, prices will shock you at how low stuff probably is compared to back in the day), have a good LS (or a set of friends) I would say go for it. Also go for the JSE body (Because Haste is always nice).
