It's nothing earth shattering but I got these about two weeks ago so I'm going to add my pair of enkidu's mittens to my accomplishments. I took a screenshot of myself wearing them in my unstacked multi hit weaponskill build here. That's what I wear when I don't stack dancing edge or evisceration with sa/ta. The changes are subtle, but I wear my toreador's ring instead of a thunder and my enkidu's goes on my hands because without the first hit critical accuracy is going to be weighted more heavily. Whenever I stack multi hits with a critical I throw on my thunder ring, and sneak attack gets my heca gloves +1 whereas trick attack gets my skadi's bazubands (I still trust the bazubands over the heca +1 in TA + multi hit).
Aside from that I remembered I had only merited the "other" category 4 times to raise critical hit rate. I used 6 merits yesterday to increase my enmity to level 3, and I'll finish the last enmity increase upgrade later. Lastly while it's not exactly a thief accomplishment per say, yesterday I crafted my first Kaiser Shield. That's a tier 0 I have never made before, so it was a boon to finally see it happen.
Edit: Lo and behold my Kaiser Shield sold on the auction house overnight. I wasn't expecting that to happen so quickly. I just logged onto my goldsmith character and it appears it took about half a day to happen. Such quick turnarounds like that are pretty rare so I'm happy this morning.

This officially counts as accomplishments. Just now I went 1/1 on a pair of cursed gloves -1. It's been a while since I've had really good crafting luck like this, and I certainly don't see this a majority of the time, but when it hits it's grand.

My LS has started parsing our Einherjar runs lately. The consistent top DD EVERY time is our rediculous adaberk/crazyman warrior as expected. Hes a beast of a DD if ever I knew one. However, my Drg has also been just as consistently #2 by about 3% (~13%ish vs 16%ish)to said awesome war in the parse every time. (We have all melee /nin as we dont have the support to sport 3x support/3DD parties so we need to survive which hurts drg a lot and am very proud of my performance there as well.)
Anyway, so Ive been pinning to flex my thf muscle in ein, so I brought it today. The results were identical. Me on lolthf behind crazyman war by 3% (13% vs 16% of alliance damage). And it was leeches/Spiders+Corse boss at that (T2). Neutral wave mobs and a bone boss and still kept up.
I am very proud to say that my thf keeps up with our top DD in my LS and stomps out all the other sams/wars/drks/Mnks/etc and suprised a LOT of people (including myself) by pumping out the same damage as my drg and maintaining my #2 status on Thf. Its a great feeling to suprise yourself xD
Huge ego boost to see that my thf still "has it." Its empowering to prove to be a great example of an underdog class in the DD rat race and made me all warm/fuzzy inside.

After a 2 year break I came back to the game. I started off slow, leveling SCH from 1-10 just so I could get a feel for the controls. Today (only my second day back, mind you) I fixed up some macros and took my 71 THF into campaign.
Dinged 72 today. I just learned about the new coffers that drop ancient currency and mostly useless crap from campaign. So I did maybe 3 or 4 battles. I ended a particularly long one in W. Sarutabaruta and rolled on everything, not expecting to win anything. Then I saw that I had top rolls on a log (joy) and a piece of currency, which I figure is negligible and will earn me 7k. Then I had a holy sh*t double take moment, it wasn't a whiteshell... it was a @#%^ing Lungo-Nango Jadeshell. Needless to say, I sh*t my pants. After cleaning up the mess I made all over my computer chair I checked the price: a solid 1.6mil, conveniently the same exact price of a Blau Dolch. As soon as the shell sells I'll be rocking BD/SK which is instant boner material.
I can't even fathom how I got this lucky. I guess after dealing me so many sh*t hands FFXI wanted to entice me back with an absurdly lucky drop only so it could crush my spirits with bone shattering sadness later.

Not a huge accomplishment, but first stage of my new dagger done (on to non-existant bats now...)
I have decided to go for the D38 dagger... just because I think it will be interesting (and I have always liked the look of the Jambya style daggers). It is going to be interesting to see what combinations will get used the most

In that set you're using Toredor+Enkidu+Dusk legs which gives a total of 16Att 4Str 4Dex 14Acc.
You have Thunder Ring/Heca+1 and easilly enough gil for oily trousers. Have you not thought of using these three pieces instead? Their total is:
4Att 8 Str 15 Dex 12Acc.
You value 3Dex more than 6Att by using Pixie over Merman's Earring, which suggests you'd value 6dex more than 12 Att. The heca+1/thunder/oily combo boast 11Dex (and 1fStr) in return for that 12Att (and 2acc).
Edit: I see you also don't use brutal? Is this an Ass Charge WS set or do you not use it for WS at all?

I don't use brutal earring in weaponskill at all. The pixie earring is better than the earring for every weaponskill aside from mercy stroke. The math on it is posted here. Basically the brutal earring isn't doing as much as you might think for our weaponskills and the power of our dexterity mods plus the acc bonus is enough to put pixie ahead. Banalaty posted some followup commentary on this immediately after the post I linked to. Pixie is just better.

Apparently Quetz-a-whatever is going to be a nice server to me to start with. Our group ran Salvage last night and am now 1/23 on Freya's (stupid frog) and have my first upgraded salvage piece (aside from Ares body which I will likely never afford). So happy to finally have this awesome piece for my THF. Hopefully SE doesn't make it useless with the level cap increases...

Oily is crashing like the dragon harness did when the mirke was released. I'm not going to buy oily trousers because it's a bad investment and I don't want to take that risk. I also have a cursed subligar -1 in my satchel and my einherjar shell is almost to odin again. The dusk is only temporary.
Third: Take a careful look at my exact charisma/dex amounts. I have 128 dexterity and 54 charisma
128 x 0.3 + 54 x 0.4 == 60.0
That pixie earring is important. It raises my dexterity by two points of accuracy because dex lands on an even amount after it's equipped. It also bolsters my wsc by an additional 1 point meaning one extra point of base damage and 1% hitrate. In comparison to a merman's it's doing more for me. Also 128 x 0.3 == 38.4. The pixie is raising my base D by 1 in evisceration as well (and affects critical considerations).
I have built my solo weaponskill set as I did for a specific reason. It's a lot higher in accuracy than my stacked sa or ta builds, and it keeps attack and base damage at a maximum. The dusk are going to be fitted with a better piece in the near future, but for now I'm not griping over that minor setback.

Oilys are worth the investment as they are the best available SATA and one of the best TA legs. They are not a piece you should consider for temporary use.
Secondly, waiting on an odin/hnm drop is never a good idea. Yeah, you may be next in line, but it still may never drop. I don't consider "I have the Cursed item, I'm waiting for abj to drop" as a good reason for choosing a piece of gear. For example, I've had a Cursed Mittens sitting in Storage for about three years. I upgraded Drg AF+1 hands back then aswell, which I can never get a refund and will be useless after I get hecatomb. However, three years on and they still have not dropped when I've needed them too.
My suggested changes to that set give you more damage for a drop of 3Acc because of the odd Dex total, so at this point Pixie doesn't give you 2Acc.
But whether it gives 1Acc or 2Acc, I still don't understand why you're using it+hollow and not using brutal.
Furthermore, considering stat rounding as you are doing to justify Pixie over Merman's, your WS set has 99 Str because of that Toredor ring. That means that -1str on the ring could well be hurting you be lowering your base damage.
Either way, it might be worth putting Oilys into your WS set anyway, keeping enkidu+toredor aswell. Your current set sits you at 405 Acc with pizza+1, that's just about enough to almost cap you on colibri, but ofc you wont be usign pizza there. IT probably will be just under cap for mamool, and anything harder it definitely wont be capped - although then you could argue that once you start fighting harder things you're stepping into SB/Stab terratory.

I have my dragon subligar +1 for SA and war brais +1 for TA. I never use SATA without a weaponskill. I either use SATA and weaponskill at the start of a fight or I separate sa/ta/weaponskills or stack a weaponskill with one of my criticals according to the situation, but I never use just SATA. Unstacked SATA is a waste and will never be as good as separating sa and ta with their respective crit builds.

I'll be augmenting my desultor tassets with 7 accuracy and 7 attack so I'll have a weaponskill leg which is better than the oily trousers. Consequently the oily trousers are crashing in price because of the ASA augment options. It's the same thing that happened to the dragon harness when the mirke was released. I sold my oily trousers for 2.5 million gil and they're only worth 1.2 mil today. Seeing as how I'll have a superior option to the oily trousers soon I couldn't justify the gil loss in holding onto them. 1.3 million gil is a lot of money to lose to an item crashing in price, and that's money I can spend better elsewhere.

Besides, with the amount of unique augments you can get on ASA legs, I don't see point in making them something that is slightly better/worse or equal to something you can buy off the AH. I didn't get them for thf for just this reason. But if Iw as getting them for thf, I'd probably make them an eva piece, either eva/enmity+ or eva/PDT, as thf eva legs options are terrible.

Finally picked up a Blau for my 72 THF to replace my Behe+1. Using Blau/SK makes me feel not completely gimp when I'm leveling now. Still finding it impossible to get party invites though.

After years of quitting, then playing again, dozens of crappy exp parties, and hundreds of hours of campaign, I am finally THF75. This makes two 75 jobs for me, so I'm happy to finally have some utility as to what job I go as to events.

You will likely not be invited to come to anything if Thief is your only job, so you should start your own group/LS if you want to Thief everything, unless you have near top-of-the-line gear for it. In which case you can claim you are better suited to be on Thief than the other 50% of your linkshell who also have Thief levelled.)

Haha, thanks for destroying my starry-eyed optimism. Luckily I don't have my WHM sub leveled for THF (because I quit before ToAU) so I've been doing Limbus as THF lately, even before hitting 75. I'd imagine as soon as I knock out the last few levels of WHM though I'll be doomed to RDM-dom forever.

Or, as is usually the case in my experiance, because on of the senior members will play the event on his alt account (which has cor, rdm and whm) and just dual box his main, naked with armlets/knife/skadi feet.

I really don't mean this targeted at you specifically...but I really am starting to get pissed off at people saying this lately. Yeah they may release gear that may be better than what's out now...but that type of speculation shouldn't hold anyone back from optimizing themselves with what's currently out now. If that was correct justification I guarantee almost no one would be playing atm in anticipation for better stuff...

If I had infinite time then maybe your point would hold worth.
As it is, I see no point in spending countless hours upgrading a magian weapon for a very situational evasion build if there's the possiblity they release something in the next update, especially as all my "spare" time in game is getting my SJs out of the way now befor Eron (s) is filled with people doing subs and MMM is overloaded, on top of money making for ore important upgrades over multiple jobs, or meriting, again for more important upgrades, or leveling synergy.
There's too much to do to justify wasting hours making Eva daggers with the possiblity of them becoming obsolete in a few months.

Part of the problem is that SE blew the doors off of what was considered normal gear progression.
I absolutely agree with you that fear of obsolescence shouldn't hold anyone back because we are already all on that road anyways.
However, what I really dislike is people who think they are "optimizing" and really aren't.

Dude, its not that big of a deal. Its not like he merited flee instead of triple attack. He probably just didn't want to mess with the SA or TA timers. He actually has a valid point, and one that you argue for quite often. You are always telling people that it is foolish to wait for something "better" while not using the absolute best that you can get "now". These daggers clearly offer a better DoT/WS option for thieves. If you don't want to put in the effort, say so, but don't try to rationalize it saying that the patches are going to bring something better so whats the point. I agree with Meldi. Triple Attack is the big T1 merit and he has that 5/5. SA and TA recasts are relatively weaker in comparison. I merited SA recast 5 times and a 50 second timer versus a 60 second timer is a difference of 17% uptime with perfect attention to timers. 5/5 flee merits is 17% more uptime of flee (closer to 25% with artifact feet), and that's one the most useful abilities ANY job gets. I abuse the sh*t out of flee in town as well as in the field whereas sneak attack is only for combat. It's personal preference and as long as you fully merit Triple Attack I don't care what you spend the other T1 merits on because the remaining choices just aren't as good in comparison.
Now I'd like to request we stop this discussion here and now and get this thread back on topic. This is the Thief's latest and greatest accomplishments thread. It is not the place to fight over your gear and merit choices. Congratulations and subtle commentary are well and good but let's keep the heated debates elsewhere. These discussions which take up half a page clutter up the thread too much and overshadow anyone posting new accomplishments to the point they get missed easily. This is one of the longest standing threads on our form and one of the threads I hold most important to me. I'd appreciate it if the derailing stopped.

Yeah there are definitely good secondary benefits to doing the magian trials. Ive completed my dex dakini and have about 80 something more flans to go on my str one with 120 malboro kills left on my first Eva one. In addition to that I've gotten about 7 merits (which have gone to waste since I'm capped on all my jobs), about 10-20 KSs per day (already made adout 1.5 mil from doing o ingot runs) and a few hundred BSs which I have yet to spam and CP to go towards me getting back my GMB (or whatever it's called now) for my rng.
So yeah...magian trials definitely helps ya get other stuff done XD

Excuse me for the derail everyone but I think this must be said.
Noodles. I'm having a hard time trying to understand why you can't just let this go. I'm not going to sit here and justify why I made a merit choice to you because I shouldn't have to. I do have to ask as to why you're just now pointing this out? I've had that in my sig for months now and you're just now noticing it? If you think that you're making me angry for stating my opinion earlier then you couldn't be more wrong. If anything, I'm really starting to pity you.
Even going so far as to post this in the "lolalla" blugartr forums I really don't understand....Do you think I give a crap about what they think as well? Are you really that hurt over what I said that you have to go to another forum to garner support? (which so far, they don't seem to really care either). Keep going if it will make you feel better buddy, but I'm sure you will hit a point in all of this and say "Damn, I've wasted enough time on something so stupid, on to the next thing"...or at least I would hope so.
And for everyone else, I don't apologize much, but I am sorry. Sometimes I forget that stating your opinion on the internet will flip on someones a$$hole switch and ruin the mood for everyone else. I'm sure he will keep going for a bit but I'm just not going to say anything else on the matter and I don't think any of you should either. Just gonna let it go...
