Get your MND outta the toilet...sheesh.

Healing magic skills substantially quicker if you use Cure in offensive against undead. This is nothing new, but WHM is not normally much of a defensive job, making skill-up more of a "party" situation for us and as we all know, WHMs don't skill up in skill up parties, we haste people.

The advent of Abyssea has given us some handy tools in the way of skill ups and those are called atma that let us go skill up in the peace and solitude that we some times prefer. If you don't want to spent stones on skill, then use up some of your leftover time from events or xp there on skill ups.

In Attohwa [A] near the Martello at F-7 there is a cluster of bones called Schnitters. And bonus, they are not casters, saving us all the non-skilling downtime of managing mages. They con EM -DC at 90.

For atma, I used Mounted Champion, Vicissitude and MM. This gives you 37 HP a tick Regen, 16/tick Refresh(with coat) a stack of VIT and DEF. With a Terra's Staff and a jelly ring, their melee hits were landing in the ~40 range, which allowed the Regen to stay ahead and allowed me to focus on the spam. IF you aren't staying ahead, sub something that let's you use ice spikes and the missed melee rounds will be more than enough to stay ahead of the damage without ever having to cast on yourself.

I made a macro with 6 lines of /ma "Cure" <t> <wait 6> and stood with my back to the mob and had at it. I would also toss in a Flash between macros to skill Divine Magic for Repose as I really like thse to stick wen I use it. The main thing to look out for is to Erase(or Haste) the slow from Horror Cloud as that will mess up the timing of the casts.

Expect 1-2 full levels per mob. Enjoy killing with kindness.

This is a no Schnitter.

I'd considered trying this for a while, but simply never got around to it. Good to see it works well.

Nice tip. Have you capped on these? I'm about 20 levels from cap still (/fume).

I would assume that with the skillup changes (being able to cap on DC mobs), it's possible to cap on these even if they haven't been killed and "leveled up" by a bigger group.

Yes, these will cap you but you need to focus more on the DC mobs once you get inside of 10 levels to cap. They seem to skill you a bit nicer than the EP. The DC will hit you for about 10-20 more hp a pop on their melee attacks, but with Ice Spikes and the paralyzed attacks, you will still stay ahead of the damage without needing to cure yourself. MP is a non-issue.

This would've been so nifty if i had seen it before capping my healing magic... But last night I capped enhancing, the last thing I had to cap, so all my magic skills are blue now :)

OK I'm trying this right now. I took the same atma and have a <bt> macro. They hit quite hard. I have a terra staff/twilight torque/jelly ring/goliard and am on an EP mob. It's perfectly fine but he's hitting me for 45-65 and his standard hit is 54. I've taken off the Orison Body because it has a lot of healing magic on it. The Slash TP move is the only one really doing anything nasty and that's fine.

Edit: /annoyed. Once I hit 350, all skillups just died and there was nothing higher than an EP around.

How about the skeletons near #07 in Grauberg? They are casters, but the most annoying thing they do is probably Ice Spikes, which is a non-factor if you aren't meleeing.

They might do a little more damage to you, but I think they naturally spawn DC to 90 since it's a Heroes zone, without having to be "leveled up" by a bigger group.

I'm going to try this after the maint. I don't have a jelly ring, but I'm hoping tacos + the bikibi seashell and my ASA pants (they're my blm ouch pants; movement speed and phy damage down) will help as well as twilight torque and the atma. If I find they hit too hard, I'll get friends and get a jelly ring. ^^

Been bugging me lately that I don't have any magical skills capped except elemental on blm and summoning magic on smn; hopefully I can fix that ^^.

Would be a nice idea to add this to sticky's, WHM is a popular job and ppl don't like shifting through loads of past threads to find the bit of info their after.

Yeah it would be. I tried it with this gear list:

Bikbi seashell
Earth Staff
ASA pants with -phys damage on them
twilight torque

I ate tav tacos as well as used the atma mentioned here, and they did hit quite hard, but I only had to cure V myself once a skel. A tip as well for those that it isn't working for; When you go there, look for a party that's facing this nm if you're close to cap. If there is one, the skels are likely to be EM to T, so you'll get more skills per skel then. Just be nice and offer to give them the pop item to the NM (bone chips) if it drops for you.

I'm going to get me a jelly ring before the cap goes up tho. ^^ Oh and I capped pretty fast; I'm guessing I was 1-5 levels from cap when I went to try it.

Was added to the sticky not long after it came out ;) There was a bit of a time gap in this thread. If you have other threads you want me to add to the sticky, let me know.
